The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has jailed a woman and her two female friends for 14 days and fined each RM10,000 for child abuse, with the victim being her three-year-old biological son.

Judge Norina Zainol Abidin handed down the sentences on the three women after they pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday (Nov 11).

00:00The KL Sessions Court on Monday sentenced a 20-year-old woman and her two friends to
00:0814 days in jail and a 10,000 ringgit fine each for child abuse, with the victim being
00:14her 3-year-old son. Judge Noreena Zainul Abidin handed down the sentence on the three women
00:20after they pleaded guilty to the charge. The victim's mother, who works at a fast food
00:25restaurant, 35-year-old housewife Adiba Mohammed Zaini, and 25-year-old Norazlin Fatin Najiha
00:32Lokman, who is unemployed, were also placed on a good behaviour bond for five years. They
00:38were also ordered to perform 240 hours of community service within six months after
00:45completing their jail sentence. The three women were jointly charged with abusing the
00:50boy by kicking him at an apartment in Taman Danau Desa, Brickfields at 1.40pm on February
00:5723. They were charged under Section 31, Subsection 1 of the Child Act, read together with Section
01:0334 of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum fine of 50,000 ringgit or imprisonment for
01:09up to 20 years, or both, upon conviction. According to the facts of the case, the victim's
01:15mother lodged a police report on November 4 over a video showing Adiba kicking her son
01:21several times in front of her and Norazlin. A medical examination found injuries on the
01:27victim's forehead, stomach, back, arms and feet. A police investigation found that all
01:33three women had abused the boy by kicking him.
