00:00eight to ten weeks, but you know what? That's a loader roster and beggars can't be choosers and
00:04the Warriors right now are rolling, stacking W's and there's a lot to like. There's a lot to love.
00:09Now they got blown out Friday night in Cleveland and you know, 6-5-0 Comcast business text signs
00:14were coming at me about the starting lineup, but I will concede this. The Warriors, one of the
00:19worst teams in terms of points per quarter in the first quarter. So points per first quarter,
00:24the Warriors are on a list with the Blazers, the Spurs, some of the bad teams. The Wizards
00:28averaging just over 26 points a game or 26 points in the first quarter. So yes,
00:33they have gotten off to slow starts, 14-3 in Boston. Of course in Cleveland, they're down 20-2.
00:39The first game of the season at Portland, they couldn't buy a basket. Utah was clunky. Hell,
00:44they were down 34-14 to the Pelicans on the first game of the doubleheader. So slow starts has
00:50been a problem, but I think Steve Kerr found something yesterday with the starting lineup.
00:54D'Anthony Melton gets his first start of the season and this is what we kind of anticipated
00:59in training camp. Can he be that two guard next to Stephen Curry? Because I like Buddy Hill's
01:04role off the bench. I don't want him, I want him coming off the bench. I love that role for him
01:08with the second unit alongside J.K. and I think we have a development there with J.K. and Buddy
01:12Hill coming in with the second unit. That could be a problem for opposing teams. But having D'Anthony
01:18Melton, who's a lifetime 37-percent three-point shooter who could defend as well, I like him next
01:23to Stephen Curry because you need a little more offense with that starting unit to give Steph a
01:27little more spacing to operate because when you do have a front line of Draymond and TJD, teams
01:32are going to dare them to shoot. And Wiggins right now, his three-ball wasn't rolling up until
01:35yesterday. So I like this unit moving forward here with D'Anthony Melton, Steve Kerr mentioned
01:40yesterday that they're going to roll with this five for the foreseeable future. So I'm sure a
01:44lot of people tuned in to portions of Friday night's game and was like, oh, this one's over.
01:49And maybe they disconnected. Maybe they did family night. Maybe maybe they stuck around like
01:53I did. I watched the whole game Friday night and I loved the way that they battled. And in these
01:59games that you lose where there's a blowout, sometimes things can happen that carry over.
02:05I thought Melton's first game back in that game and his ability to make a couple of plays,
02:11some middies off the backboard. I was like, oh, this is a silver lining. Kaminga making some plays
02:18in the Cleveland game. I was like, oh, this is a silver lining. And I thought both guys carried
02:23that over into the game yesterday. I thought Andrew Wiggins battled his you-know-what off
02:28yesterday on the glass. Andrew Wiggins has been fine this season. Had a little bit of slump on
02:33the road trip, 419 from three. But yesterday he goes 204 from the three-point line, but eight
02:38rebounds, five assists. And it's not just the activity. It's not. Yeah, exactly. It's the
02:43energy and activity. He's defending his ass off. And I love that Steve Kerr, understanding that
02:48OKC was going small yesterday, kind of was like, yeah, Looney and TJD love you. This is not a great
02:55matchup for you. Well, TJD didn't start the second half. GP2 did. Yeah. And Looney didn't play a
02:59second yesterday. So you're playing in a matchup. Exactly. This is what I wanted him to do. So
03:04that's what he did yesterday. JK with 14 of his 20 in the first half yesterday. And when he's
03:08getting downhill and he's attacking the basket. Now, I love the two threes where he settled in
03:13and shot a couple of threes. But when he's attacking five more rebounds yesterday for JK,
03:17this role for him with Buddy Hill and JK GP2, those are your first three guys off the bench.
03:23Now we've got to figure out pods is jump shot right now. He's struggling with the jump shot
03:27and we'll get there. He'll have his time. Lindy Waters has also hit a bit of a slump here ever
03:31since he let up the Pelicans. But you get JK and Buddy Hill there and you get GP2 and the minutes
03:37you're getting from Moody is very productive. I got something cooking here. Now maybe Steve Kerr
03:41started to pare down his rotation just a bit. Now, this is where I did the math. So I could
03:46be wrong since becoming a reserve. I've got over 17 points a game for Jonathan Kaminga and almost
03:5352 percent shooting from the field since becoming a quote unquote reserve player. He's not part of
03:58the first five. OK, but if I told you he's going to average close to 18 points a game on 50 plus
04:05shooting, wouldn't everyone be like, yeah, we'll take that. I mean, even in the blowout against
04:09Cleveland, I thought he was J.K. on the Warriors look slow in that game. They're getting blown by
04:15left and right and killed. Garland and Mitchell got two feet in the paint all night long.
04:19Mobley and Allen's length and size really bothered the Warriors in the half court.
04:22They wouldn't let the Warriors breathe. They couldn't get an open shot. That was as impressive
04:26of a win I've seen all season. Cleveland took it to the Warriors. They're still undefeated.
04:30And their problem with Kenny Atkinson. But I thought Kaminga was the one guy on the Warriors
04:35who looked like he belonged on the same floor. He looked like he belonged on the same floor
04:40with Cleveland, with the speed and athleticism. So, look, there's a role for him on his team.
04:46I don't know. Like after the Boston game, I saw a tweet that blew up and somebody tagged me in it.
04:50For what reason? I have no idea. But they beat Boston and the first thing is so.
04:56Can you imagine what the team's going to look like when they trade J.K.? Everybody's so quick. Jason
05:00just told you. What are we doing? Rose wasn't built in a day. We just want to trade to your
05:04point since he's shifted to the bench. J.K., 17.5 points a game, 52.7% from the floor and 45%
05:12from three and everybody. Yeah, 45% from three. I have that as well as what is he doing on the
05:19glass? Well, now there's an uptick in rebounds. He's averaging five rebounds a game off the glass
05:24in these past six games. So J.K. is playing well in his role. Andrew Wiggins. But there was a
05:28return to chef. Seven to 13 from three, 36 points, seven assists, five rebounds,
05:33and he's played at such an unbelievable level right now. Don't you think that having Melton
05:37alongside of him contributed with 1910 and two assists and three steals a like the size is there
05:44and then you have another ball handler. He was hitting the middies and then he obviously had,
05:48I think he had five threes yesterday. But to me, it was the defense. He's so aware off ball. He
05:54jumped multiple passing lanes and either forced a pass to a different direction or just stole the
05:59ball. I think Melton alongside Curry is kind of an unlocker. Well, this is the starting lineup
06:04that I assume was going to happen before what Stradicap was over. But Steve Kerr wanted to go
06:09a little bigger and he went with athleticism and size with Kaminga, Wiggins and TJD and Drabob.
06:14And obviously you needed a little more shooting there. J.T. Bell just lifetime 37% three point
06:20shooter. The only problem is, is his back, right? He missed five games with the back injury. He
06:24missed 44 last year in a regular season with Philadelphia, played it only one playoff game
06:28for Philadelphia. So if his back holds up and you're getting, you're not going to get 19 points
06:34every night, but if you get 12 to 15 and you're getting 10 rebounds from this guy who can guard
06:39at a high level. Now he's not GP2 in terms of defending, but he ain't a big drop off to the
06:45mountain. He's no, he's a problem at the point of attack defensively. So the Warriors did the
06:49thing yesterday. They all scored. Okay. See, in the second or third quarters, 81 to 46,
06:5581 to 46 shafts game went 14 to 24 from three. So when we recap the road trip
07:02four and one on this five game, Brody, when you think about when they entered the Boston game,
07:06their next three opponents was 22 and one. They beat Boston. They beat. Okay. See,
07:10I'm going to give it down with their shorthanded or not. These were good quality wins.
07:14But I think the common denominator again, could it be an outlier? Sure. But the common
07:20denominator in the two wins, I don't fear the bigs on. Okay. See with no Chet and no Hartenstein.
07:26Yeah. Right. Like, so they don't have a big, and then against Boston, like Horford is just
07:3238 years old. That's what I'm saying. And they didn't have Porzingis, but against Cleveland,
07:36what did they have? I had a young stud in the middle. Who's a dynamic athlete. And I, I just,
07:43look, I love these wins. I am not trying to poo poo them at all, but there will be a time when
07:48you're going to need TJD and Looney and maybe another big, no doubt to be able to slow down
07:53these big. So I I'm so encouraged by what it is now. I'm very interested. Hey, the Chet injury
07:59is huge. What does it look like? Well, Hartenstein with that team. Yeah. I don't know. I legitimately
08:05don't know. It could fit. It could not fit. He was a rugged player for the Knicks.
08:09The Warriors are going to have a stretch from December 6th to December 21st,
08:13where they played in Minnesota Timberwolves three times. Oof. All right. Nas, Reed and Colbert.
08:19And Colbert. Yeah. But I bring that up because let me list these next 10 games off. Give them
08:25to me. I believe they're 10. If I'm doing my math correctly, that's three, that's 11 games.
08:30Well, the next 11, Dallas tomorrow night. We know that's a big one. Memphis Friday without
08:35John Moran, possibly. He's week to week with he's got hit. I get dudes banged up.
08:42Did he play the Clippers in L.A.? Did it come back home for Grant Leffman's Hawks?
08:48Then you have a double dip, a back to back against the Pelicans and the Spurs.
08:53Did it play Brooklyn at home? Did he play OKC without Chet? Then you go to Phoenix and who
08:59knows if Kevin Durant will be back by November 30th. He has a calf strain. Yeah, I'm going to
09:02say no. Even though they're saying two weeks, I'm going to say no. Then you get a nice little
09:07two day break before you play Denver in a mile high city. And then you play the Houston Rockets
09:12back at home. So these next 11 games, it's pretty fair. That's 11 games. You know, they're eight
09:17and two now. What if they're 19 and six? Oh, well, then, you know, it's going to happen.
09:24What if the no wait, that doesn't create 11 games. What if they're
09:29say if they go seven and four and those 11? OK, so all of a sudden they're 15 and six.
09:36Well, if they get 16 and six, then we're saying out loud, Chesky and I, that we both believe
09:43this team can make a deep run in the playoffs. Absolutely. Then I'll believe. Now, I already
09:48think that there's something in the air, Phil Collins. But I'm telling you right now, this
09:55warrior team is legit. And if teams want to go small with us, we're going to run them out of the
09:58gym. You can't play small with. No, the only way to beat us is going big. Well, I'm not the only
10:03one. One of the ways to beat us currently is like having the bigs and like Evan Mobley. So unique.
10:10How many teams have that? Not a lot of teams have that guy. But you know what I'm noticing?
10:13So good. Cleveland, they took the forty two threes. I was a season high for them Friday. Now
10:17I don't know what they did in Brooklyn. The only average thirty six three point attempts per game.
10:22Do you think that was the inside out or do you think that was. Yeah, it was it was a blow by
10:25it. It was inside out. And I felt like I could get any shot he wanted. But think about this.
10:29Cleveland shoots going into that Warriors game. They were shooting forty two percent from three,
10:34fifteen or thirty six. Forty two percent tops in the league. Yeah, that's incredible. But that
10:40balance that they play with, I'm saying here you look at Boston was imbalanced. Obviously,
10:45they were efficient for the three point line, but I think you could beat them. The New York
10:48Knicks are starting to get back to balance mid range layups and then some threes about the
10:52matchups. It's about matchups, but it's also about having some balance within your office.
10:56You can't live and die about it. You got to go inside out here at times. So Cleveland's ability
11:00to go inside out and you get two guards in Mitchell and Garland. And I have to mention
11:04Caris Laverne off the bench is a problem. And I'll give you credit. They didn't even have Max
11:08Max Struess. Max Struess destroyed the Warriors last year. They did Ty Jerome, Ty Jerome,
11:14good kid. He looked good somewhere. Steve Kerr was so not everybody's going to be Cleveland,
11:18but man, Cleveland looks good. No, it looks incredible. They look incredible. But here's
11:24the thing, be like, but a two man, you were talking about bounce floor. So like last night,
11:28there's a little subtle plays that happened, but he's been so on fire from three. They overplay
11:33him. Right. And he goes back door with a dream on bounce pass. And it's a wide open layup.
11:37Like little things like that are going to help them. Now they're going to need
11:41some of these, uh, you know, front court guys scoring. There's no doubt about it.
11:45There was a moment last night where I started to worry. Yeah, of course you did. You started
11:49texting. I looked at my phone during our first break of the post game show. It was like 55,
11:55this text, it was off from Joe Shasky. I thought something happened. I'm super fired up. No,
12:02I thought something happened. No, it came out of nowhere. It was like, I didn't hear from
12:06none of you guys. It in the last five minutes, it's all Shasky loses by giving us a play by play.
12:13There was a moment in time where obviously the dorcher chamber and Draymond green were going
12:17at it on the side. And I thought they made way too much of it, the referees and they reviewed
12:22it for what felt like an eternity. He's gone 50 games without a flagrant. Yes. Yeah. 10 games
12:31out. 10 55 to go, baby. You, you weren't thinking they're going to give him even more for the elbow.
12:37Yeah, of course I was straight by green and it's the NBA refs and they stopped playing. You see the
12:42replay where he flailed and I was like, Oh, Oh, I think he's more mature. Oh. And who's your guy
12:49that came to the middle of the table and stared into the camera. What's that referees? Oh, uh,
12:53come on. Pat frayer. Dude, I just stopped with them. No more screen time for these refs.
13:01I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to take some calls here in a second,
13:03but I always want to read people and I think they get the shows mixed up. Uh, here we go.
13:09You guys don't know ish about basketball. Six, six, two. I told you could be, it was that dude,
13:13you hug up on me. You're actually speaking to two of the biggest commedia fans at the station.
13:18Come on. How many times have we been pumping up Kameka on this show? I can't speak for other
13:22shows, but I know on this show, you're talking to the biggest Jonathan Kameka fans. There is
13:27on this show, the morning roast. I love JK. Love JK.
13:32Now there's another guy who used to cover the team at this station who
