00:00Well, one of us got to cover a winning football game yesterday, the other one, um, well, we're
00:18going to get into it.
00:19I don't want to, I don't want to just let, let this all the misery that Will is feeling
00:22over there and all the angst of Jets fans come out before I at least tell you that of
00:27course this show, the all 32 pod with Mike Giardi and Will Parkinson is brought to you
00:31by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of CLNS and game time, best tickets, best
00:36prices to get you in anywhere, anytime.
00:40Um, let's get to the, let's get to the bad game.
00:43Let's get to what happened.
00:44You had some vibes, you thought like, okay, big win over the Texans 10, 11 days ago on
00:49that Thursday night.
00:50Great second half.
00:52Did they finally get it?
00:53Did the Jets finally turn the corner?
00:56Oh my God.
00:57They turned the corner and ran into a freaking sledgehammer.
01:00They got beat 31, six by Arizona in Arizona.
01:04I'm not sure it was that close.
01:06Will, I say this as a friend, it's like a brother.
01:12I'm not letting you go back and get sucked back in by this team.
01:15Yeah.
01:16No, it's over.
01:17It's, it's like at the end of the day, like if maybe they prove, if they go out there
01:21and they went a couple in a row, maybe you'll have a conversation at some other point.
01:23But right now the focus is kind of on, um, you know, what Rogers looks like the rest
01:27of the year.
01:28What, you know, how, you know, how spry does he look?
01:32Does he, you know, does he look good at points the rest of the year?
01:34That makes you, you know, gives you one extra year of a different head coach.
01:39It comes down to this for the Jets and give Arizona credit first and foremost, if had
01:43the beat the Niners this year, obviously, uh, you know, and Bill had Miami with two
01:47of back and then beat a Miami team that was, you know, the real Miami team we've all gone
01:51in the year.
01:52Most importantly, they Jets and Rams two teams with very high expectations, obviously different
01:58the way they've played this year, but, uh, have come into their building and they beat
02:01them by a combined 70 plus points.
02:03And it's been impressive.
02:06Kyler looks way more in control.
02:08I think that he's ever looked, I don't, they've asked him to do a lot less and he's done a
02:12lot more.
02:13And, you know, the specialness of Kyler's game maybe is not quite so special anymore
02:18in a sense where like he doesn't, it's not as crazy.
02:21These highlight plays and there is, they're there for sure, but he's just really, he protects
02:26the football.
02:27They, they've done, they've gotten as the most out of an offensive line of a bunch of
02:31retreads, a lot of Jets retreads and Giants retreads.
02:33I'm sure, you know, at points this year, having Kevin Beecham and Tristan Cologne and Will
02:38Hernandez, isn't exactly a, the guys you would think of a really good offensive line, but
02:44they've done a good job there.
02:45James Connor and Trey McBride was a great pick.
02:47You know, we, we both liked him down at mobile a few years ago and you know, Marvin, the
02:51whole thing, Jonathan Gannon, I wasn't high in the higher, I'll be honest, and he's done
02:56a really nice job.
02:57Uta Baker is one of the best players in football that just knew that going into the scheme.
03:01We don't have really tall Cardinals, but give them their props.
03:02I mean, they're in first place in that division, regardless of what happens tonight.
03:06And I don't know, I think that if you're a Cardinals fan, you're hoping that they easy
03:11schedule remaining, you hope that they can maybe make, I don't know, when nine, 10 games
03:15get in the playoffs and they accelerate that rebuild probably by a year, because I think
03:19they have a hundred plus million in cap space, they'll have, you know, their draft picks
03:23and like, you're like, Oh wow, like this young core, maybe we're talking about the Cardinals,
03:29you know, in a, in a favorable light going in next year, going, Hey, they, the favorites
03:32leaving, you know, going into 2026 or five, like that's, that's the way how good and how
03:37impressive they've been from the jets point of view.
03:40They're probably the worst coach team in the NFL, or they're the worst coach.
03:43I think Conrad just put this on the jets post game.
03:47So I don't want to, I don't want to steal.
03:48I want to make sure I give Connor credit here.
03:49He said a disparity between talent and coaching with the jets is probably the worst.
03:53And it's hard to disagree.
03:55If you right now, if you had just started this season over, you were getting every game
04:00out of Rogers.
04:01You're getting me really good, Gary Wilson, the air brace, all healthy, like all those
04:05different things.
04:07You put my variables, the jets had coached, they're probably seven and three right now
04:10because they're going to be a lack of energy.
04:12There wouldn't be a lack of discipline.
04:14They wouldn't be playing down to competition up to certain games.
04:17Like that's their biggest problem, Mike, is that they, a lot of energy conversations week
04:24over week.
04:25And when the energy is good and when it's bad, it's like, I don't know, man, like that
04:29to me scheme or, you know, scheme Assad and Joe Douglas being one of just a future job,
04:36kind of, uh, cut off, you know, you know, cut off it's down there in order for him to
04:43be able to really make it the moves.
04:44Maybe he wanted, uh, he had a horrible off season as it's played out.
04:49And it's just, I don't know.
04:51There's just so much sun pack with them that, you know, after the season when we do are
04:54kind of a, you know, we dive into each franchise and what they need to do, but coaching is
04:58a huge problem.
04:59The front office is a problem.
05:01And most importantly, I'm just, it's so frustrating because you see some moments from Rogers.
05:07You see moments from this defense.
05:08You see moments from Devante, Garrett, Brees, the offense, I think that every week one unit
05:14either has a good week.
05:15They moved the ball great yesterday.
05:16They moved the ball.
05:17I will ran the ball.
05:18Well, Rogers is getting the ball out quick, but then they get down to red zone and they
05:22got six points.
05:23Resolve doesn't touch the ball in the red zone.
05:25Um, Rogers missing, misses a few reads that he never misses.
05:29And it's like, he's missing them.
05:30Um, I don't know it yesterday sucked and it was, it's just, everything happened for them.
05:36They got this, the chief's block pick, like what the hell happened there.
05:40Right?
05:41It's like, you didn't think that was going to happen that, you know, they didn't get
05:43the Steelers game, but it's okay.
05:44And you know, they get the Colts losing every bangles, losing the one, the one point game.
05:48It's like the jets were happy to be asked to spot out of a wild card game with the Colts
05:52at home and a buy coming up.
05:55And instead it's now like, Hey, you have to go seven and one the rest of the year to be
06:00relevant.
06:01I just don't get it.
06:02Yeah.
06:03It's the, the energy part is interesting because like you said, all these things happen for
06:07them before the game.
06:08And it's not as if they're unaware of it.
06:09I know you're, you're, you know, you're doing your warmups.
06:11You're like, Hey dude, the Colts lost.
06:14Hey, such as, you know, they just blocked the kick in Kansas city, you know, Kansas
06:18city survives, they beat Denver.
06:20And then to not have that energy.
06:21And it's, it's almost become in the last five or six weeks, like something that always gets
06:28brought up.
06:29Now, Claire's are talking energy and that is, that's, that's gotta be maddening from
06:35your perspective.
06:36It's gotta be maddening from anybody who gives a crap down there.
06:38Like why can't you find the energy when you're fighting for your lives and the season is
06:44on the line?
06:45And you know, this is, this has been a deep slide after the two in one start after being
06:48the Patriots on that Thursday night, like you gotta find it.
06:52The one thing I will say, and I think Garrett Wilson sort of spoke to it last night after
06:56the game was that when you're basically, when you're applying like trash, it is hard
07:02to create that energy.
07:03Like if it starts out in that direction and you're like, Oh no, here we go again.
07:08To your point, if Rogers is missing reads that he doesn't make the other guys know that
07:12too.
07:13Like, Oh, well, our quarterback's not totally like for whatever reason is not seeing it
07:17the way he should be.
07:18Or he's not, he's not, he's not making the accurate throws that he should be.
07:21And then sauce gardeners got McBride in the flat and you got to make the tackle.
07:24Right.
07:26Afterwards.
07:27And it's sort of that play shouldn't be the thing that unraveled at all.
07:30But in reality, as we look back on it, you say, well, once that play happened, then it
07:34really went in the wrong direction.
07:36And whether that's lack of leadership, whatever you want to call it in terms of the overall
07:41just sort of falling apart.
07:43This is a team that has a ton of talent, even with some of the guys not playing to the level
07:49that you would expect them to.
07:51And yet now they're sitting here at three and seven.
07:54So one thing, the one thing I'll say is exactly your point place in the division, which is
07:58gross.
07:59Cause there's yeah.
08:00Now in perspective, there's no comparison between the two teams.
08:03The one thing you just mentioned there is very similar.
08:05And I know you use the Yankees.
08:06An example, we talked about baseball, you know, did the Yankees not have good energy
08:11in game three?
08:12No, of course they had good energy, but they couldn't hit.
08:15And it's like, when you can't, and then they went in game four, it's wow, this team plays
08:18so hard.
08:19It's like, Oh, you know, Gary, as you mentioned, Gary Wilson put it, the one thing I'll say
08:23is the encapsulation of the Jets season is very much in terms of today, the reaction
08:30today.
08:31And this is why I are so much on the leadership and I know people want the offensive play
08:35color for the Jets.
08:36And again, we'll get into that in the off season.
08:37But the reason I keep talking about variable or that type of coach, right?
08:42Look at the chargers, um, you know, the, the, the Yankees, I mean, they started the Jets
08:48are very much in my opinion, my brother brought this up and I think it's the perfect example.
08:53The Jets are likely in 2025 going to be the 2024 bets, meaning the 2023 mets were an abject
08:59disaster.
09:00They had expectations through the roof, subway series, blah, blah, blah.
09:04And they just totally created everyone that was supposed to be good at a bad year.
09:07The manager bucks are Walter in this case, but you know, Robert style of like it all
09:10fell apart.
09:11They bring in a new GM, new manager, new head coach, whatever he's, you know, follow this
09:15example and everyone that was bad, you know, the roster is not quite as talented, but it's
09:19a better team.
09:21And I think that's where the Jets are lacking today on social media sauce Gardner, who is
09:24a two time all pro is one of the most decorated players, but on players, but on corners of
09:28the NFL sauce has had a fine year in coverage.
09:31He's been okay.
09:32Tackling it's been is, you know, he hasn't tackled well and it's okay.
09:35And most corners don't tackle well and, and all that stuff.
09:38Now I wrote a, he didn't tell me, no one's expecting that Charles was, but so quote tweets
09:45rich to me and tweets about sauces tackle because at 14, six, the Jets had moved the
09:49ball.
09:50Those first two drives.
09:51And we'll move off this game.
09:52I know because there's more important stuff, but 14, six Jets finally get the first, they
09:56get the Cardinals, the third and long, like they hadn't done that in the first two drives
10:00sauce instead of going low on trade McBride.
10:03That's what you'd usually do as a DB or tried to just fold him up there and wait for the
10:07guys to rally.
10:08And they were about to rally that football 14, six early second quarter.
10:13Actually the games it's right there to be added a sense where it's like, Oh, we get
10:16the ball back.
10:17Hey man, it could be, it could be 14, 13 to 14, 14.
10:20And all of a sudden we're like, Ooh, we stemmed the tide.
10:23He tries to like suplex wrestle, trimming pride down the Cardinals score.
10:29The game is over.
10:30And sauce goes on, Hey, you really think that was what the reason, you know, difference
10:33in the game.
10:34You don't know ball of the least in three minutes, Quincy Williams post a blank black
10:38story in his Instagram with words like to the effect of, you know, it's just a game.
10:43Like don't talk to me crazy or all, you know, whatever, like kind of not threatening fans,
10:48but doing the classic.
10:49We talked about this with the pantry, like, Hey man, just honestly, the best thing you
10:53can do.
10:54And I get into it too.
10:55You get into it.
10:56People tell me this all the time, just get off, get off, get off the internet, put the
10:59phone down.
11:00It's not going to help.
11:01And now it's, everyone is just going to pile on you and pile on you.
11:03And then the next mistake you make, it's going to be five times worse.
11:07It's just this team needs an adult to come in for the organization.
11:11And again, I keep using variable, but I'm just using an example and say, stop, we're
11:16not going to be victims here.
11:17We're not going to be that.
11:18We are going to be grown men, adults, and we are going to play like it because the jets
11:22really played to their talent.
11:24They may be in the spot.
11:25We all thought they would be, but they're not.
11:27And there's no type of leadership from vocal leadership.
11:30I'm not talking, you know, follow me guys, because there's plenty of those guys that
11:34play hard and whatever they need a grown.
11:38This is, I'm the organization, not a player, not the owner, not anybody else.
11:42Hey, we'll talk about it in Dallas at points, talk about it in all these other places.
11:46They need an adult that's on the faces, franchises, the horrible Tomlin.
11:51These are not play callers, Campbell.
11:54These are not play callers.
11:55These are, this is my organization.
11:56We're going to play my type of football.
11:57The jets are not doing that right now.
11:58No, they're not.
12:00It's incredibly disappointing.
12:01And it, as you mentioned, I mean, we already had changed with Robert Sala getting fired.
12:05The whole staff's going to get blown out.
12:07Joe Douglas is probably on his last two, Robert Sala's staff, by the way, for everyone in
12:11like the, Oh, the jets shouldn't have fired Sala, please.
12:14Let's yeah, let's, let's stop.
12:17It's the whole thing.
12:18It's, it's rotting from the head down.
12:20They need to make changes.
12:21We'll see if they make the right changes.
12:23I was kind of going to London.
12:25Yeah.
12:26Well, right.
12:27And Chris, Chris Johnson, you know, maybe assuming that power seat.
12:32I was reading some of your responses to your tweet about the, what kind of coach do you
12:36want here?
12:37Oh, sort of structure.
12:38And it's very interesting.
12:39You got a lot of responses.
12:40We'll get into that more as, as we go along here.
12:42Like you said, when we get into the off season, but, um, the adult in the room is important
12:47and someone who can establish a culture that I think, I forget who said it might've been
12:52Damian Woody could have gone back to Marxist.
12:54Somebody said it was like, it's been since like 2011, 2012, since they blew that group
12:58out that they've had a real culture in which to build upon.
13:02Mike, I was just going to say like, the one thing I think I've noticed, uh, around the
13:06NFL this year is the teams that have that really good infrastructure.
13:11Again, I'm not super high on the Steelers roster at all.
13:14We're not going to talk a ton about that game, but that's, you know, it was a really good
13:17football game, but you know, even though commanders worse roster objectively, they, they, the roster
13:22is not super talented.
13:24They have some of the guys that are holdovers that are good players, you know, into your
13:27defensive line, McLaurin, et cetera.
13:29But they got quarterback, right.
13:31And Jayden's gone through his bumps and bruises, but it's been really good at most of the time.
13:35Dan Quinn, adult in the room, Adam Peters, adult in the room, chargers rosters, objectively
13:40significantly worse than last year.
13:41No Keon Allen, no Mike Williams.
13:43You know, they, they make a bunch of different moves, you know, like it's not, and then we're
13:47defensive football, Mike.
13:49And like they lose, it's like, guess what?
13:53Herbert's playing really good football again.
13:54Quarterback doesn't matter.
13:55I'm not saying it's only coach, right?
13:58Cause Belichick had years where he, you know, he's one of the best, if not the best ever.
14:01And we don't have the quarterback, it's hard to compete.
14:03But Tomlin, Harbaugh, Campbell, the Lions won on the road yesterday.
14:11And we'll talk about this game, but Lions won on the road yesterday, they're quarterbacked
14:14their five interceptions, right?
14:16Like that's because there's an infrastructure.
14:19There's no, it's just frustrating.
14:22And it's just, I look around the league and some of these, these openings that are potentially
14:25going to be open.
14:26And as well as some of these ones that are, they're not going to probably be open, but
14:31certainly could use a change.
14:32It's just like the team reflects the coach and it's not always a good thing.
14:37And it's not just the play callers.
14:39I know everyone's obsessed with the offensive play color.
14:40I get it.
14:42But if you're a Patriots fan, you're open.
14:44Hey, Gerard Mayo.
14:45I want our team to resemble Gerard Mayo's attitude, the way he played as a player.
14:48That's the whole reason you're excited about the higher, right?
14:50Like that's the reason people were excited about Antonio Pierce first, obviously has
14:53not worked.
14:55But I just, you know, like the team's a really good head coaches are good.
15:00They'll get Denver too.
15:01It's just like, yep.
15:02Yeah.
15:03Good head coach.
15:04They're competitive.
15:05They're better out playing their talent.
15:06The Jets are doing the direct opposite right now, unfortunately.
15:07Yeah.
15:08Well, you mentioned infrastructure.
15:09And I think that kind of leads us into our next game Patriots, uh, beating the bears
15:13in Chicago.
15:14A good example.
15:1519 to three.
15:16And just because we're on the infrastructure before we get into the Patriots side of this
15:19thing, Chicago's infrastructure is a disaster.
15:23Ebert Floos.
15:24Now, since how they responded since the Hail Mary, they've laid two massive eggs.
15:29Uh, Eber Floos earlier today, this we're taping this Monday afternoon admitted there's
15:34going to be changes on the offensive side in terms of coordination scheme, the whole
15:37thing.
15:38So I don't know if that means Shane Walters out.
15:39He hasn't announced that yet.
15:40They got a hack at him, right?
15:43Or yes.
15:44Does he get reassigned and they elevate someone else to the play caller?
15:47Um, this would be Eber Floos is third OC.
15:51If they do move off of Waldron in three years, um, Eber Floos appears to be a dead man walking.
15:58You get the quotes last week from TJ Moore.
16:00Does the team still believe in, or does Matt still have the locker room?
16:03I want to say yes was the quote, which means yes means no.
16:06There was sort of more of that vibe yesterday post game yet they have a structure where
16:12not only do they have Eber Floos as the head coach, Ryan Poles is the GM.
16:17They have Kevin Warren as like sort of the executive vice president came from the big
16:2110 and he's very involved.
16:23If you saw the hard knocks, you saw him on the hard knocks.
16:26He's very involved.
16:27And you know what that says to me when they blow out Eber Floos at the end of the season,
16:31you know what they're not going to do?
16:32They're not going to go get a Mike Vrabel or a Bill Belichick because Warren is likely
16:38going to stay involved because he just got there essentially.
16:41And do you think he wants to with now that he's being able to exert his influence on
16:44the organization, you think he wants to change and give all the power to a coach?
16:50No, he's not going to want to do that.
16:51So they're going to try to do the retread or the coordinator, you know, like obviously
16:57Ben Johnson's the name that's been mentioned.
16:59You're throwing if you if you're the Bears, Mike, and I don't know how you feel about
17:03this.
17:04Obviously, it would be taken from the Lions and Ben Johnson.
17:05Schefter had a very cryptic report about Ben Johnson basically being like he's going to
17:09be asked to interview for all eight openings, whatever it's going to be that he like likely
17:14will only interview for the one he knows he's going to get in the Washington thing last
17:18year was really weird.
17:20And that's it.
17:21We don't have time for that right now, but you're paying him whatever it takes.
17:27Like, I'm not even as high on Ben Johnson's everybody else's just because I feel like
17:32I got to see it.
17:33Like, I don't know what he's I just I don't personally know what he's like.
17:36I don't cover the Lions and I'm not in the Lions building day and day.
17:39So it's hard for me to guess I mean, we cover every team, but I feel like you have a rookie
17:45quarterback who's you're on the verge of like, you're my break this dude already.
17:50Like, DJ more like, get it together, man, right?
17:55Like, just, you know, get it together.
17:57That's all I'm saying.
17:58But like, yeah, I feel like they're a team that is they're the team that goes and gets
18:03the offensive play caller because the defense is already in a really good spot.
18:08And you're really just saying, how can we get the best out of Caleb, you know, going
18:11forward?
18:12Are they a Liam Cohen team?
18:13Are they a Todd Monk and team, you know, something like that, where it's like, hey, I just want
18:16to go coach football.
18:17I just want to, I don't need to be involved in, as you mentioned, overarching decisions,
18:22but they're, they're not a good team.
18:24I think we've been on this for a while, right?
18:27Took advantage of a soft schedule.
18:28Yeah.
18:29And then I think, what did we say on one and a half wins over under on Friday, it's probably
18:34really the under now because the Patriots were one of the few, I think there was two
18:38games we thought they'd be favorited and they just lost the easiest game on their schedule
18:43by record.
18:46They're just really frustrating.
18:49Caleb's all his bad habits have come back because, and again, Caleb's a rookie still
18:53at the end of the day.
18:55And we've seen him have these really nice moments, but you know, the offensive line
18:59sucks and the play calling is horrible.
19:02I mean, I can't work with, I mean, just to, to, to illustrate that point, cause there's
19:06a lot of, as you can imagine from where I am, there's a lot of like celebrating, like,
19:11oh, you got the right guy and drank me over Caleb and I'm not arguing one way or the other.
19:15I'm just saying like, there's this whole celebration factor and it's like, well, you
19:19guys lived this last year, the year before, even the beginning of this year when, when
19:24Jacoby was playing, they had four of their five starters out of the game.
19:28Three didn't make the start.
19:29Nate Davis was a late scratch, surprising both their tackles were out.
19:32And then Tevin Jenkins, who is their best offensive lineman goes down.
19:35I believe it was an early in the second quarter and he doesn't return.
19:38So like the Patriots had nine sacks, I think four or five of them came in under 2.1 seconds
19:44or 2.2 seconds.
19:45It was something absurd.
19:46Right?
19:47So like, you're not even giving the guy a chance, but then to your point, the bad habits
19:51are seeping in.
19:52Then there's bad body language.
19:53Cause everybody's got bad body language.
19:55Like guys aren't getting off the ground, right?
19:57Guys aren't getting open downfield.
19:59I've already got a chance to look at the 20 shoes Tuesday and like, there's not a lot
20:03going there.
20:04There's not a lot of, uh, intricacies in the passing game in terms of what Waldron's designed.
20:10Like, Hey dude, run some crossers.
20:11Like run a mesh, dude, do something to create some, some traffic for, for these, you know,
20:17I mean, you have some, some quality receivers there.
20:20Cole Comeco is like completely ignored until the third quarter, which has been a recurring
20:25theme for them, especially over the last three or four weeks.
20:27Like they're just, they are aimless right now as a bad football team.
20:31And I got to imagine it's going to get worse.
20:33Cause I think, and I, I, I didn't tweet it.
20:36It was our chat.
20:37We do a live chat during the course of the game at Boston Westernal.
20:40And I, I early third quarter, I'm like, Oh, you know, just hang on to the ball here for
20:45a little bit because Chicago's ready to just literally pack it and it's over.
20:48And sure enough, that's, that's exactly what happened.
20:50That team had zero, zero fight.
20:53But they would be, if they were smart, they would be in the bill Belichick business.
20:57Bill Brigg, Josh, Josh, you did a lot better with, uh, Mack Jones who doesn't have nearly
21:04the talent, you know, and Caleb's little finger.
21:07Like let's go do that.
21:08A good yellow Brian spot be interesting.
21:13Right.
21:13I see Bill's a good coach.
21:15He's a horrible GM, but yeah.
21:17I just wonder now, like, you know, like, all right, he's lived the NFL thing.
21:21Got fired, came back, had a miserable time with Bill there for that one season here in
21:25new England now has the BC job.
21:27You know, he's got a kid with developmental needs.
21:29Like it it's, it's home.
21:31The son plays at Tufts.
21:33Like he's got all this stuff.
21:34Like, I wonder if now he's just like, look, if I can make this work here, this is where
21:39I'm going to be for the next 10, 15 years and do it that way.
21:44For the Patriots, look, this has been sort of a rollercoaster season.
21:49They went back to, um, what I would call old school.
21:53And by old school, I mean, week one where we're going to run the football, we're going
21:58to stop the run.
22:00They didn't do a great job covering kicks to the toughness point, but like in general,
22:04they're just going to be the more physical team.
22:06They looked at Chicago.
22:07They looked at the tape this week and they found some flaws.
22:10Part of which was Arizona had rushed for over 200 yards against them the previous week.
22:14And they're like, all right, we haven't been able to run the football for almost four weeks
22:17now, but against this team with Billings out, like we can do this and we're going to stick
22:24to it.
22:25And they didn't, it was not a, it was not a virtuoso offensive performance, a 185 yards
22:31passing, 144 rushing, like decent balance, right.
22:34But like shot themselves in the foot a number of times, you had the bad may interception
22:38in the first half, which didn't lead to anything problematic, uh, bogged down in the red zone,
22:43had to kick field goals and not score touchdowns, but generally clean, very physical.
22:50You could see the confidence building while the, the other side was already deflated to
22:53begin with.
22:54And you just kept running it down their throat, just four yards of pop, nothing crazy.
22:57There was no big runs or anything like that, but it was just sort of the, the, the, the
23:02thing that I drew out of it.
23:04And when I talked to Gerard bail about this morning, question about is if you remember
23:08that game where they, you know, remanded a rush for one 25 in the open against Cincinnati,
23:14they controlled the ball on the ground.
23:16They won the trenches, both offensive and defensive lines.
23:19Few weeks later when they keep losing, he said, the quote was, this is not sustainable
23:24to win a football game.
23:25You can't sustain this and be a good football team, which was really basically telling you
23:29that Jacoby wasn't good enough and we need to make the pivot.
23:31They waited one more week, lost the Miami before they made the pivot to Drake may.
23:36But today he said, this is who we are and this is how we have to win.
23:40So I was like, wait a minute, didn't you say this was unsustainable?
23:44And he, and he was like, well, you know, I reserved the right to change my mind, which
23:48absolutely reserves the right to change his mind.
23:50But then he sort of altered the answer as he went along and he didn't talk about like,
23:53well, I'm talking more about the physicality aspect of it.
23:55Like we have to be a team that's more physical than the other team.
24:00And I don't know if they can still do that offensively will.
24:02Cause again, the offensive line is not, they ended up sticking to the original plan.
24:06They kept in when it went right guard, which I was bitching and moaning about, made no
24:09sense to move them to left.
24:11They kept him at right.
24:12They had some success over that right side.
24:14He and Jacob Stamatre Jacobs, it was again, yeah, they claimed off waivers at the end
24:18of August, but he's a big physical human being.
24:21Like you got to run, run behind those two guys, figure out the rest, right.
24:26And patchwork it together.
24:28So I don't know if they can continue to be that kind of running football team going forward,
24:31but I do think there is a chance for them to be more physical.
24:35Certainly they have the capabilities with some of the pieces on the defensive line to
24:37be that.
24:38And I think that's sort of, they got to lean into it and I don't know why they didn't lean
24:41into it for weeks upon weeks upon weeks.
24:44And maybe now, as he said, it reserves the right to change his mind as the light went
24:47on or whatever.
24:48But like it gives them an identity that I think they've been searching for, for, for
24:5310 weeks.
24:54And hopefully this is something that they can build on, need to build on.
24:56Yeah, no, definitely.
24:57I think you hit on a lot of what I was going to hit on with the Patriots, but the only
25:01other thing I would say is like, I guess maybe I've been higher on them than everybody else
25:06in this aspect.
25:07Like there's a good argument to be made.
25:10There probably should be five and five right now, all things considered, um, it should
25:15have beaten Miami.
25:16I, I, I don't, I don't get that.
25:18The Seattle game, I think they should have won, you know, just based on looking back
25:22at it, like you could argue they probably should have two more ends and maybe baby Jacksonville
25:26if they'd started, you know, whatever the way things were going.
25:31It's probably good in the long run that they're winning, losing or winning competitive games
25:34right now.
25:35Just based on the, Hey, we'll have a top five pick likely, but maybe not.
25:38I don't know.
25:39The NFL is horrible this year.
25:40And it's so, you know, they drop out just in the tech of pollutants that they dropped
25:43from one to seven right now, if the season went into that.
25:45So, you know, who knows that don't end up with Travis on or whoever it may be, uh, maybe
25:50in there, but T-Matt from, from Arizona or somebody like that, and you know, that's their,
25:54you know, receiver they build around.
25:55But again, I, I keep saying this, like this season was so much about reestablishing the
26:03new Patriots and not, you know, getting away from the bill Belichick, not like getting
26:06away from in terms of like, they should replicate a lot of what they did under Belichick, uh,
26:11but getting in this new form identity, establishing the coach, establishing the, the, uh, the
26:15quarterback.
26:16And as much as I've found a craft on Gerard Mayo this year, because I, I do think he's
26:21done generally not a good job.
26:23You don't say it's the end credit where it's due, where, you know, this staff was better
26:27than the bear staff this week.
26:28They just were.
26:30And when they do something right, I gotta give them credit too.
26:33We can't just crap on them, but you know, I don't know, long-term van Pelt, there was
26:37a lot of other times I was reading a bunch of the stuff from you guys and other people
26:40in Boston, Hey, this might be a one-year thing.
26:42And then it'll be onto the next guy and maybe it's an attractive job now because may is
26:47established himself.
26:48Hey, we're going to get an influx of talent, offensive line receiver wise.
26:51You know, this is a great offensive coordinator job now, not the worst one in the league.
26:56All that said, I just, the Patriots are just in this weird spot where it's like, it's such
27:03a weird concept.
27:04I think for this organization, this fan base right now that they're winning games.
27:10They won a game like yesterday.
27:11And it's like, where's your excitement level at?
27:13I think like people are excited, but it's also that, like, I just mentioned that like
27:17all of a sudden you're like, Hey man, we might have the quarterback and the number one overall
27:20pick again.
27:21So you kind of were like, Oh man, should we have lost?
27:23I don't know.
27:24I I'm in the business of like, they should, of course they should have won that game.
27:28That's awesome.
27:29Um, you know, go try to upset the Rams or come on to the West, you know, back to back,
27:33you know, East coast games.
27:34Can you get the Rams, you know, next week, you know, rest too.
27:37Sure.
27:38Yeah.
27:39Sure.
27:40Rest.
27:41Hey, they're, they're looking towards getting old.
27:42Like, I don't know.
27:43I, I think I'd feel pretty decent if I'm a Patriots fan right now.
27:44Like there's such a breath, lack of talent, but they've still won three, three to 10,
27:50which isn't great.
27:51But listen, you know, the Jets, Dallas, Miami, all these teams that are supposed to be playoff
27:55teams have won two or three games too.
27:57So I feel pretty decent probably about yourself right now as they should.
28:01Yeah.
28:02I think there's a, look, you can't ignore, you beat the Jets with a good second half.
28:08Then you go into Tennessee and you fall flat on your face and lose to a team that was playing
28:10objectively as worse, as bad a football as any team in the league.
28:15But to bounce back.
28:16And like I said, it wasn't a, at least from an offensive standpoint, it wasn't some great
28:19performance.
28:20You're not going to put the game plan in Canton, Ohio or anything like that.
28:24But like, look, they were weak on the, on the offensive line.
28:27You got nine sacks.
28:28You made Caleb Williams look like, you know, a six round pick, not a first round pick.
28:32Like you had them confused.
28:34You plastered receivers down the field and, you know, Kenan Allen's older and maybe not
28:38the same player, but yeah, you still take him.
28:40He's still a decent player.
28:41DJ Morris, you know, coming off a 1400 yard season a year ago, like a doomsday top 10
28:46pick.
28:47And you were like, you locked them up pretty good.
28:48So there are things to build on now, the key for them.
28:51And I think we've talked about it after each one of their wins or decent performances.
28:56Okay.
28:57Do it again.
28:58Like you don't even like, yeah, you want to win.
29:01Obviously.
29:02I'm not saying you don't want to beat the Rams, but like, okay.
29:04But even if you lose to the Rams, if you play a representative football game that shows
29:08that you're headed in the right direction, I think that's been the thing all year long.
29:12They've lacked the consistency.
29:13In fact, it's usually been, they've just been inconsistent and they were all got awful basically
29:18for six straight weeks.
29:20Now they're starting to find a little bit better balance and a little bit of a higher
29:23level.
29:24And let's see now if the players continue to stay involved and buy in and take it to
29:30the next place.
29:32I think the coaches can give them the kind of plan and the tools needed to have success,
29:36which again, at this point in the season, we haven't seen them do it consistently.
29:40So you know, it's nice to win.
29:43They got victory Monday today.
29:44They won't be back in the building until Wednesday.
29:46Okay.
29:47But then on Wednesday, when you come here, you better be ready to go to work because
29:50the Rams are well coached and they have a lot of talent and their offensive lines getting
29:55healthy again.
29:56And like, that's not going to be easy, even on short rests and an early game for a West
30:00Coast team.
30:01So we'll monitor that as we've done all season long.
30:04Let's hear from prize picks.
30:06I picked not so great this past weekend.
30:09I'm not blaming myself.
30:10I'm blaming, I'm blaming the offensive coordinators that are, that are bringing me down.
30:13Jeez.
30:14Are they bringing me tied down and brought me down with Garrett Wilson, Alex, even though
30:24they won the game, brought me down with Hunter Henry.
30:26Like what are we talking about here?

31:17Speaking of games, let's get to the Sunday nighter where the Lions overcame a 16 point
31:25deficit to beat the Texans 26, 23.
31:29They've now won seven in a row.
31:30They are eight and one.
31:33They're the best team in the league, right?
31:34Even though Kansas city is not, I know I write that's fair.
31:37No, they're, they're not only the best team in the league.
31:41I think I said this, I think I said this last week on last Monday's recap, they should be
31:47a three point favorite on a neutral field against any team in the league.
31:51And the reason I say this, they played as bad as you can play in that first half on
31:55the road.
31:56Pretty desperate Houston team.
31:58Not fully, fully full strength.
32:00Obviously the update, you know, missing Willie Anderson and he goes, I get, no, like I get
32:06it.
32:07Houston's not full, but Stroud is still a really good player.
32:09You know, the Texans 10 day, you know, 10 days to kind of get ready there and Detroit
32:14coming off an emotional division win.
32:15They don't need this game by any means.
32:17It's a non-conference game.
32:19First of all, shout out to the lions fans.
32:21I mean, they'd pack that building.
32:23They take that field goal.
32:24It sounded like a lion's home game.
32:26That's it.
32:27I not only find the lions and again, I know there's some antics with the lions for some
32:31of the, there's some dirty play stuff, you know, you can, we can, again, conversation
32:36for another day.
32:37I want to talk about the positives here.
32:40Jared Goff was as bad as Jared Goff's been since he got to the lions.
32:44I thought I mean, but some of them were like, it was just the most comical, like he wasn't,
32:50it wasn't the wrong read.
32:51It was never, it was just like a horrible throw.
32:54The one he threw on the deep, uh, the deep corner, like great read play worked Rose horrible.
33:02You know, it was just like, I don't know what he's doing.
33:06Um, but that dude stands in there as tough as nails.
33:09He has gotten this mentality.
33:10You don't want to, again, I know I keep RP on this, this, because I know it's because
33:13of the jets, but like golfsman boss, MO, and we were texting back and forth about this
33:19last week.
33:20You know, it's the infamous year quote from the Superbowl from, I guess, what was that
33:232018 or 2019 that golf would shit his pants.
33:27I don't feel like that at all.
33:28Now I actually feel like he just doesn't care.
33:30And he is like, you listen to him talk in the locker room.
33:33It's a different dude.
33:35He's taken hits.
33:36He's, he stands in there.
33:37He, even when he throws bad interceptions, it doesn't like, he doesn't crater.
33:41I don't know, man.
33:43You don't usually see guys mentally change like that.
33:46It's usually a physical tweak, you know, maybe it's a little confidence, like Sandara, right?
33:50Like the O'Connell's tweets, his game a little bit and put him in good situation to got him
33:55confident.
33:56But like, Sam's still going to have his ups and downs.
33:58He's always going to be a little inconsistent, high, you know, high variance.
34:03Awesome mentality.
34:04It's like totally different.
34:05And that's the biggest takeaway for me is like, like the lines, Carlton Davis was awesome
34:10last night.
34:11And like, you know, the defense and off, like we can, things we've already known.
34:15I just feel like golf's year has been such a conference of the second morning football.
34:18He's like, I've been waiting for the game where golf's not 15 to 15 for one 98.
34:25It's like, no, I want to see golf crater a little bit and figure it out on the road,
34:29tough environment, emotional game.
34:32And they find a way to win.
34:34And like Campbell's reactions, but at all, I feel, you know, as, as field goal goes in,
34:39you just said, yep, you're like, yup.
34:41And I was like, yeah, that was, that was, that was pretty cool.
34:47And I think it's a great point because when we're, and we've talked about golf quite a
34:51bit, I, you know, I kind of had for, for weeks been talking about him as the MVP and then
34:55Lamar continues to do what he does.
34:57And I'm like, all right, you probably can't deny Lamar.
34:59And last night's game is going to hurt him in terms of the, cause the counting stats,
35:03right?
35:04The five picks are going to be like, oh my God, Lamar never threw five picks in a game.
35:08I think that's almost more impressive doing what he did than some of the games where the
35:12ball wasn't hitting the ground or basically not hitting the ground.
35:15And of course the game, because to your point, like some bad throws, yeah, some unlucky,
35:19there was a tip here, the ball deflected, you know, did a great job standing in the
35:23pocket moves, got the arm kind of hit just as he was throwing the ball, that ball gets
35:27picked off.
35:28But then to lock in in the fourth quarter, after all that on the road for, as you said,
35:32a team that desperately needed a victory, um, and just like the most irritating, horrible
35:38games I've ever seen.
35:39It really was because, well, part of it is too, like there's just a high level of talent
35:44to good coaches, like just the whole, the whole thing.
35:46But like for him to be able to answer that, take them down the field, it's, I never thought
35:52I would say this, but Jared cough is the killer.
35:55He's got that sort of mentality of what I'm saying.
35:58We'll see.
35:59We'll see if it holds up in January and February again, but certainly they put themselves in
36:03great position to be that footprint.
36:05They should be at home the entire playoff to theoretically speaking, if they keep it
36:09up.
36:10Mike, I thought that one thing we talked about from Houston's perspective, going into this
36:12game, what do they need to do?
36:14And I said like, Hey, look, look good in this game.
36:17Like you don't have to win.
36:18And in some ways you first half first half, you go, okay, that's a great way to respond
36:24adversity.
36:27The Stroud conversation is going to, I, I'm not, I know I sound like a CJ Stroud hater
36:31and I really am not.
36:32I said he's one of the top seven best quarterbacks in the NFL and I still feel that way.
36:36I think he's a lot closer to seven though, than two or three.
36:39And I know that doesn't sound like a big difference.
36:41I think that is, there's that, there's a step and CJ did a million podcasts all summer.
36:47He did a million podcasts during the season.
36:49He took a million shot air shots, Aaron Rogers and all these other guys and Brady and it's
36:54like Stafford's my guy and this is my guy, you know, just talking with this irrational
36:59confidence, which is what makes CJ great.
37:01One of the things that makes him great, but also it was kind of like, dude, like you guys
37:06went 10 and seven and like you won one playoff game against Joe Flacco.
37:10That's like, let's just a little bit on it down just a little bit.
37:16And I, I think he's been pretty bad for like a pretty large number of games for what we've
37:23seen this season.
37:24Like, I think he had some nice moments.
37:25He was really good early on, but it's kind of some of those ones early on Mike, where
37:29I was like, Hey, you got really lucky to get away with one or two against India member
37:33week one.
37:34He had, even against new England, he had one or two where you're like, what are you doing?
37:40Last night to point a guy, keep going and then throw it and under throw it was like,
37:47what was that?
37:49Look, you know, not for nothing, three and 3.8 yards per by the lines did a good job,
37:54but I don't know, Joe mixing them 46 yards and 25 carries is brutal.
37:59He got extremely frustrated and yeah, they'll get better when, when Nico comes back and
38:04you know, they get the offensive line healthier for sure.
38:07I get it, but it just shroud not taking care of the football mixed with, you know, our,
38:14our, uh, our boy calling some of the, some of these just, you just, it's so predictable
38:20and it's like, it's a bad combo right now.
38:22And I just worry with Houston where like, I think they'll win the division.
38:25I don't hear any of these things.
38:27I just, something to me is like, they didn't take the, that step I kind of was hoping.
38:34And it's a, it's going to feel like a missed year if they don't go further than the year
38:37before because shroud like so early on in his rookie contract where it's like, Hey,
38:42we gotten spent on this guy and this guy and this guy.
38:45And man, like there's going to be a year older and tonsils a year older next year.
38:50And it's like, damn, like did we miss this prime, prime window?
38:53We still have a really big window, but you know, you don't say, I'm not trying to overreact.
38:56I'm just saying it's like, ah, it's not quite what I was expecting.
39:00Yeah.
39:01I would say two things.
39:02One.
39:03So last year they kind of came out of nowhere.
39:04Right.
39:05Obviously no one expected like a CJ is a talented kid, but no one expected them to go 23 and
39:09five, you know, touchdown interception and, and just have, you know, a year that many
39:14people who forgot Dan Marino's rookie season, we're talking about the greatest rookie season
39:18in NFL history, but like, right, exactly.
39:22But he was really good.
39:23That the point being, he was really good.
39:25They took people by surprise.
39:26Demico did a great job, 10 and seven.
39:29They make the playoffs, the whole thing, everything changed this, this off season.
39:33Now you became the team that other teams want to beat.
39:36Now you're the game that teams look at their schedule and say, oh yeah, Texans think they're
39:41all that, or, Hey, we're not that good, but this is an important, like let's show people
39:45that we're better than people think we are.
39:47That becomes the game.
39:48And then they've had, you mentioned the injuries and losing digs is a problem.
39:50And now having Nico gone for five games, they, they, I mean, Nico was playing as good a wide
39:57receiver as anybody in the league before the hamstring got hurt.
39:59So those are problems you have to deal with the injuries over the course of the season.
40:04They haven't done an awesome job with that.
40:05And then I continue to hammer Sloic is a problem.
40:09It's not like it became a problem at the end of last year.
40:13And I thought second half, like where were his answers to the lion's answers?
40:18It feels like he has his script and he has a handful of plays that he likes.
40:24And once they'd been used and seen, I don't know anything else.
40:28It's like, oh, let me go to the sheet and turn the page.
40:32What's right.
40:33Yeah.
40:34It's like, give me something like, or, or, or, you know what?
40:36CJ, just go make something happen.
40:37Like, and that's not going to work.
40:39He's got to mature.
40:41Someone's going to make a mistake.
40:42Cause there's probably going to be seven or eight openings.
40:45Someone's going to hire him.
40:46And I'm just saying, unless he changes and shows me something over the last seven games
40:51and likely the post season, he's not ready yet.
40:54Not saying he can't be, I'm just saying he is not proven that he's ready, but he was
40:58a hot commodity last year, interviewed for a bunch of jobs.
41:01And again, everybody likes the offensive coordinator with the tight pants and like
41:05this, you know, like the, the young guy that could, yeah, right.
41:10But like, just be careful, just be careful.
41:13Cause I just, the last thing quickly on this, I just want to quickly hit, like when encapsulates
41:17the Texans this year is like, and it was last, it occurred last week, but I can't keep forgetting
41:23about this.
41:24Like we're running back past the CJ routes or running a fade route.
41:30Yeah.
41:31Second and goal from like the nine down 11 points.
41:36Like I, I just, I can't, I still can't believe that happened.
41:40And I felt like that encapsulates, like they ran all their plays, right.
41:44One stop was working.
41:45Some of us were just like, F it.
41:46Like let's, it's like, I'm not saying he's made hack it.
41:49I'm just saying it's a lot of the same where it's like, well, it works.
41:51You're like, Oh, it's not that bad.
41:53And when it doesn't, you're like, literally, what are you doing?
41:55Yeah.
41:56Like, yeah.
41:57Show me averaging one yard to carry.
41:58Maybe try something different, right.
42:01And they shuffled their offensive line yesterday a little bit to try to, you know, as we talked
42:05about on Friday, the interior of that offensive line had been struggling.
42:11It was better past blocking, but not great.
42:13Still four sacks, 13 hurries, according to pressures, according to next gem sack by your
42:17own guard.
42:18Yeah.
42:19Not, not awesome.
42:20How about the Steelers who are now seven and two after beating the commanders 28, 27, a
42:29couple of things here that stand out to me, but first I just got to go back to the Russell
42:33Wilson thing.
42:34I guess when Mike Tomlin decides to do something, just trust it.
42:38I'm just going to be okay.
42:39He must know something.
42:40They're like, Oh, you know, I thought Russell's Washington.
42:42He might still be kind of washed, but it's worked.
42:46Their offenses look different.
42:49Russell was not awesome yesterday, although I saw some people at the argument and I think
42:54I can kind of get behind it.
42:55That maybe it was his best game in the three games that he started because he made a lot
43:00of big plays when it mattered, including the, the game winning touchdown pass to Mike Williams,
43:06who was the formerly of the jets and couldn't find a real place for the jets needed that
43:09fifth round pick.
43:10Yeah.
43:11Well, I just, I guess this is another place infrastructure, right?
43:17Just trust what they do there and maybe it won't lead to January success.
43:21It's been a while since they've had that, but when it comes to regular season and consistency
43:26and sort of getting this team is overperforming in my book and they're seven and two right
43:31now and they're in first place in a division that has arguably the best team in the AFC
43:37and in Baltimore.
43:38Yeah.
43:39First of all, there's more than one on the road.
43:40Um, they got Baltimore this upcoming weekend and that's going to be, you know, obviously
43:45we know Steelers Ravens and you know, that's how it's going to be.
43:48But you know, after that at Cleveland at Cincinnati on Cleveland, like you can make an argument
43:53that they should be 10 and three, even if they lose this weekend, you know, and look,
43:59I think we all kind of thought eight, nine wins since it's the Tomlin kind of MO, right?
44:04Just not never bad enough to take never really good enough in this recent era of Steelers
44:10football to be a true contender.
44:11And I still don't know that they're a contender.
44:13I think both these teams we talked about a Friday are a year ahead or maybe a year,
44:18you know, two years ahead.
44:19Maybe in Washington's case of like where we kind of thought they'd be, we thought maybe
44:22the Steelers transitional year quarterback kind of weird.
44:27The defense is a little older than you'd probably like it to be for like a future window, but
44:32the offense is a lot younger and Hey, they just, you know, fire moves and pickings.
44:37It'll add, you know, they didn't get IU, but did they go get, you know, whoever the next
44:41guy's going to be?
44:42I don't know.
44:43I think we kind of were like, Hey man, like they're, they're a solid team.
44:47They don't beat themselves at all.
44:50You know, 37 minutes time possession, not a ton of turnovers.
44:55They run the football well enough.
44:57Obviously they play really good defense and it's not even like they're special on defense.
45:00They're just like, they don't beat themselves.
45:02Like I don't, it's the NFL is so much about not beating yourself and they don't, I do
45:08still think it's like, it looks like he got that first down.
45:11I'm still kind of confused there.
45:13But you know, Washington, some of the things flared up yesterday that you're worried about.
45:19Special teams was obviously an abomination defensively.
45:23It's like, can they get the big stop when they need it?
45:27Obviously they didn't kind of just a lot, a lot of more would help their, a lot of more,
45:31you know, but like, yeah, to your point, what they had yesterday, it wasn't good enough.
45:35Yeah.
45:36Don't look like it was on the bill.
45:37Right.
45:38Um, no, I, I don't think this is a devastating loss for Washington by any means.
45:42Gene was fine yesterday.
45:43I don't know.
45:44This won't go in his hall of fame of, of best games, but it just, you know, it felt like
45:49really the Steelers were like, Hey, like we're just, again, I keep saying that we're not
45:54going to beat ourselves.
45:55Like we're, this is who we are.
45:59Uh, this is what we do.
46:00And you know, the fields, Russ for fields thing has worked out great for Tom and like
46:07it could have gone a very different way.
46:09Right?
46:10Like there's a good argument to be made.
46:11Like they shouldn't know what being the jets, but they did, they ended up running them off
46:13the field in the second half.
46:14And it's like, Oh, maybe that move worked even though Russ was pretty terrible.
46:18And then like the giants shoot themselves in the foot eight times and pressure to beat
46:21the giants.
46:22But like, Hey, now we're going to our bi-week and regroup.
46:25Should we be in the commanders?
46:26Probably not, but it doesn't matter because we have, and now it's like, it gives Tomlin
46:30so much equity in that locker room, even though he already had so much, you're just like,
46:35man, like this guy, like going to Russell Wilson in 2024 and it's working.
46:41They won for fields.
46:42They won with, with, uh, with Russ.
46:45I think the expectations have at least changed in my opinion, like they cannot miss the playoffs
46:49now.
46:50Like now they, they can't just be nine and eight.
46:52They can't just be 10 and seven.
46:53Like they got to probably be an 11 or 12 one team at this point.
46:56Right.
46:57And it's probably, I think it's them going like five and three, five and four the rest
47:00of the way.
47:02Uh, you know, unobtainable by any means.
47:05And if you're Washington, like, okay, crappy loss.
47:09It's not crappy.
47:10Cause it's obviously a competitive loss.
47:11It just hurts.
47:12Right.
47:13Cause he felt like you had a shot there.
47:14You were going to hit the ball back.
47:15Johnny Newton goes offsides.
47:16I'm not sure why anyone, it's just like, I can't, they're obviously we're not going to
47:20run a play there.
47:21This is Mike Tomlin who doesn't beat himself.
47:23He's not going for it on fourth down at the midfield with a minute left to help the one
47:27because he knows if he doesn't get it.
47:29Yeah.
47:30Johnny Newton's awesome.
47:31Like, yeah, really good player, but it's just, it stinks.
47:36Um, Washington's got a tough, and this is going to be an interesting stretch now where
47:42in a set like Philly Thursday night, you got a rebound.
47:46We just talked to that Chicago, a younger team, the younger quarterback, kind of, they
47:50saw adversity after that, you know, after that really tough loss against Washington
47:53and they've cratered.
47:54I expect the opposite of Washington.
47:56I actually expect they play the U S well every year.
47:59I expect them to show up any Brian Robinson back.
48:01I do think you'd miss him.
48:03But yeah, no, these are, these are two good teams.
48:05I still think they're in that tier two of contenders, but listen, seven and what a commanders
48:12are seven and three dealers are seven and two, whatever, and Baltimore Pittsburgh seven
48:17and two versus seven and three polar opposite version of football right now.
48:21But I'm excited.
48:23Russ versus Lamar.
48:24We're what year is this?
48:28Yeah.
48:29Just quickly a Steelers defense, Alex Highsmith got hurt yesterday with the ankle and Dante
48:34Jackson, the corner guard Highsmith, the bigger one there, although Jackson plays a lot for
48:38them interested, he'd not come back in the game.
48:41So we'll see what that is.
48:42I was like, did he tear his ACL?
48:43I was like, what is going on?
48:44It looked bad.
48:45Yeah.
48:46Preston Smith though, who they made the trade for gets a sack.
48:48Obviously TJ is fantastic.
48:50Hayward's been fantastic.
48:52They held the Washington.
48:53I was going to say the, what they used to be called 60 yards rushing three sacks of
48:58Jaden Daniels and 13 quarterback pressures.
49:01I would also just put it on your radar.
49:05The cliff Kingsbury factor.
49:06If you go back and cliffs tenure with Arizona averaged 25.1 points per game in the first
49:11eight weeks of the season.
49:13Second half of the season dropped to 20.
49:16I don't know.
49:17I didn't want to bring it up.
49:18I was hosting because obviously the Jets were playing the Cardinals this weekend hosting
49:20my other pod and Johnny venerable who, who covers the, uh, the Cardinals as well was
49:25like the whole fear is like, Hey, Kyler usually starts really well.
49:29And that was the cliff years.
49:30He's like, this team's different.
49:31And we obviously saw that, but yeah, I, I would be very wary of, um, I'm just, I think
49:36he's a good offensive play call like, or I, I not, I'm not convinced I would hire cliff
49:42as a, as a NFL head coach, but it probably will get a job because if it keeps trending
49:47in this direction, he's definitely going to be one of those, uh, tight pants people
49:51that we talk about getting a job, uh, this off season, uh, a reminder to, uh, frequent
49:56game time.com.com.co, excuse me, game time.co.
50:02If you want tickets to anything we're talking about, obviously tons of games going on right
50:05now with all the sports involved, NHL, NBA, NFL, college football, et cetera, but concerts,
50:10whatnot, they've got this, uh, filter game time picks, which takes out all the fluff
50:14to show you.
50:15Only incredible deals on great seats.
50:16So you don't have to waste time searching through thousands of tickets.
50:19I told you guys this last week, Celtics at home against golden state.
50:23I'm like, why am I not going to this game downtown already doing some TV went on the
50:28game time app.
50:29Bing, bam, boom.
50:30I got tickets.
50:32I saw Steph Curry and the Warriors beat the Celtics.
50:34That's neither here nor there.
50:35I still love Steph.
50:36So, I mean, I guess I could handle a little bit, but back to the matter is great prices.
50:42Easy to do.
50:43Bing, bam, bam.
50:44I got in there.
50:45Loved it.

50:55Download game time today.
50:57What time is it?
50:58Oh, it's game time.
50:59Last game we've got on the docket, San Francisco squeaks out a 23 20 victory over the Buccaneers
51:05who now fall to four and six head to their by the Niners five and four have Seattle next.
51:12I said, what other game do you want to do?
51:14You said, how about San Francisco?
51:15Are they back?
51:16Will, are they back?
51:19Yes.
51:20From the aspect of, I think McCaffrey just adds such a different element to this team.
51:25I still don't think, I still think they're much, they're just not the same team that
51:31they've been the last five years.
51:32And that's okay.
51:33They're still, they're physical.
51:36They're going to get right at the right time.
51:37I feel like this is one of those as of two years ago, I believe I'm not mistaken, where
51:41they kind of started off wonky and then all of a sudden they won what they ran off like
51:4411 in a row or 12 in a row before that NFC title game.
51:48I could see it happening.
51:49Like we've seen it happen before.
51:51There's no reason to think like cigar.
51:52Now they got their guys.
51:54Is Debo the same player?
51:56No.
51:57Is Iuke obviously not being there a huge, yeah, obviously the offense, you know, like
52:02there's a lot of reasons to poke holes in it, but the core pieces are still there.
52:06And again, McCaffrey has this different dimension.
52:08The Bucs are really hard out every week.
52:12I'll say they're back because I think there was a tearing point this week where it's like,
52:17Hey, they lose this one.
52:19You know, what is McCaffrey?
52:21What if he comes back?
52:22Doesn't look right.
52:23And they could, I don't know, maybe they would go eight, nine or nine and eight and just
52:26miss or something like that.
52:28They had to study the ship.
52:31These have been two brutal losses for Tampa Bay, two games where you go, geez, like three
52:37really.
52:38It's like, Hey man, like this was a really, a really tough part of our schedule, but like
52:41we had to get at least one or two and we didn't get any, um, Bakers is worth every penny.
52:48I know he turns the football over like a madman, but, um, worth every penny that team embodies
52:53him and really tough under man team that it's found a way.
52:58I think the Bucs have got a bright future in that sense where it's like, Hey, I know
53:02we're kind of in that weird, you know, after officers, older after officers, maybe a little
53:07too young, but they draft really well.
53:09Uh, the GM and the head coach are in sync with what they want and the Bucs are going
53:14to be competitive every year.
53:15I just, for the Niners, I felt like the kiddo catch was incredible.
53:20You know, obviously Purdy looked good.
53:22Um, they made their kicks when they needed to.
53:25Um, and again, yeah, that's just one of those games where it's like, Hey, should we have
53:29won that game?
53:30Probably not.
53:32I don't know, but they did.
53:34And now it's like, okay, deep breath at the, by we got McCaffrey back one on the road,
53:39beat a good football team.
53:40Now let's, let's go on a roll here.
53:43We just, we see them do it too many times for me to doubt them again.
53:45Do I think there's good?
53:46No, I think I, you knew both had them like 10 wins, 11 wins.
53:52I still think that's probably where they end up.
53:53I think I had them as a wild card and Hey, there's getting the class again.
53:57They do.
53:58Um, but yeah, I, you know, then the stiff arm.
54:02And the whole thing from Baker.
54:03It was a fun game.
54:04It was just a, that one, it's like window yesterday was really good game after really
54:08good game, competitive teams versus competitive teams.
54:10It was, it was fun to watch.
54:11Yeah.
54:12I didn't love this like coming in and then it certainly hit back with some good stuff.
54:18Here's well, two things I wanted to bring up.
54:22So they had the three missed field goals.
54:24They also muffed the punt return and then Moody ends up kicking the game winner with
54:28barely squeaks in there.
54:30But during, after one of the misses, I'm sure you've seen the clip by now, Debo Samuel
54:35going over to Moody.
54:37He said he was going to encourage him, the long snapper sort of intervened because I
54:41guess Debo kind of came at him a little bit harder than you would think someone was going
54:44to encourage him.
54:45And then Debo basically, so like kind of semi choked round right in the face.
54:52So it was interesting.
54:53Debo said like, you know, it's not a character for me and Jake and I will squash it.
54:57Don't worry about it.
54:59That said, locker room was closed for 30 minutes.
55:02The NFL rule says between 10 and 15 minutes, the locker room has to be open.
55:05It was closed for 30 minutes.
55:06So I don't, there's been no other reporting, as I mentioned, we were recording this on
55:10Monday afternoon about what was going on in there.
55:13I expect that there will be some more reporting about that, but just something interesting
55:17to kind of file away like, Hey, they won the game, they're five and four, they should be
55:21feeling better.
55:22They're in a better position than they've been in obviously.
55:25And they got Seattle next.
55:26But just something that you, as we go into the season and you get further and further
55:30in, is there something going on in there that we don't know that, that maybe is, I don't
55:35know, causing some sort of issue in there.
55:39And I will say the other thing is, and I had to kind of crack me up, Shanahan lies all
55:43the time, like, like, and sports fibs, like we, you know, like, no, this isn't like, but
55:48like, you know, I think they knew that Christian McCaffrey wasn't going to play in the opener.
55:53And in fact, I think they probably knew he was going to be gone for a long time.
55:56And of course, then that became like a 90 minutes before he's an active and oh my God,
55:59what happened?
56:00And it turns out he's got double, you know, Achilles tendonitis and goes to Germany and
56:03do all these different things.
56:04But then this week, he's like, yeah, we're going to ramp him up.
56:06McCaffrey.
56:07He wouldn't take him off the field, practically 13 rushes.
56:11But they had him.
56:12Yeah.
56:13I just had him in the, in the, in the plan, like nonstop, and maybe that was game script
56:16and they saw that it was really important to get the win.
56:18But just guy hadn't played football in two and a half months and he was like, Nope, Nope,
56:23you're going, we're paying you.
56:24You're, you're, you're making 15 million a year and you make our off the passing game
56:28somewhat six or 68 just opens up so much more of them.
56:31It's not even just to him as a runner, right?
56:33Like, no, it's for, for guys like Pearsall, I mean, like absolutely a hundred percent
56:38like changes, changes the ceiling of that offense when he's out there because it does
56:42create a lot more space.
56:43I mean, Pearsall, who again, I liked, I do believe I tweeted, he was going to be a first
56:48round pick and people like they're nuts, ended up being a first round pick 70 days after
56:52getting shot.
56:54His score is a 46 yard touchdown, ends up with four catches on six targets yesterday
56:58for right around 70 yards.
57:00So you know, they're, they still have some good skill people, even if they're missing
57:04IU can, and you know, Debo is not the same guy.
57:08So that's going to put a wrap on this edition of the all 32.
57:11I am Mike Giardi.
57:12He is Will Parkinson.
