00:00:00Does it have an intro?
00:00:01Hello everybody and welcome into a brand new crossover edition of Patriots Beat and Patriots
00:00:08Daily.
00:00:09It's been a few weeks.
00:00:10Alex Barth with you, with Brian Hines from Patriots Beat, Taylor Kiles, Mike Kadlik from
00:00:14Patriots Daily.
00:00:15And it just, it felt like time for a check and we've hit a couple inflection points in
00:00:19this season.
00:00:20The trade deadline, the midway point, we're four games into the Drake May era now, essentially.
00:00:24So we're going to kind of do a two part show here.
00:00:28We're going to just start off some trade deadline reactions.
00:00:30I know you guys did a show yesterday, Mike and Taylor, but we've gotten a little more
00:00:34information since, since the immediate aftermath, the trade deadline, me and Brian did our show
00:00:38on Monday.
00:00:39So we even talked about it.
00:00:41And then we're going to get into mid-season awards, mid-season, I'd say it's more superlatives
00:00:46than awards.
00:00:47But we'll get into that.
00:00:48You can't give out awards at two and seven.
00:00:50Later on.
00:00:51You can't give, that's a, that's a good way to put it, Mike.
00:00:53You can't give out awards at two and seven.
00:00:55And for that, if you notice there's those little circles underneath, I've joked for
00:00:58a while about doing a Tony reality type thing where I give these guys points and take points
00:01:02away based on their takes.
00:01:04I think I figured out a way to do it.
00:01:06It might be a little bit of a headache, but Mike with an early lead here, but do not react
00:01:10to the points as I give them because the show is going to get derailed so fast.
00:01:15I'm giving the points.
00:01:17That's the rule of law here.
00:01:18We'll see.
00:01:19I guess we'll do like, like, like around the horn at the end where whoever wins gets like
00:01:2330 seconds or something, but let's get started, Mike, since you're in an early lead here from
00:01:28the open, I guess we'll start with you, your reaction to the Patriots, more or less standing
00:01:32pad at the trade deadline.
00:01:33They moved Joshua Uche.
00:01:35Let's not forget that that was a part of this, but since then, no moves sounded like they
00:01:39maybe had some calls yesterday, but it didn't end up doing anything.
00:01:42Yeah, it didn't necessarily surprise me.
00:01:44I thought, you know, when, when Uche was moved, I thought that was the one that made probably
00:01:48the most sense at the end of the day, a guy who was on an expiring contract, probably
00:01:52not in this team's future plans as was seen by him only signing a one-year deal this offseason.
00:01:57I mean, as far as KJ Osborne, Tyquan Thornton, I think those were the big names that kept
00:02:01being floated around, but you know, if teams don't want to give anything up for those guys,
00:02:05you're not able to trade them, right?
00:02:06Like a conditional seventh, the seventh, whatever it is, like it sounds, you know, given the
00:02:10fact that they weren't moved, like those weren't even options on the table.
00:02:14And so we'll see what happens.
00:02:15John Mayo said that there could even be some addition by subtraction in that room down
00:02:18the line.
00:02:19I feel like everybody's kind of in the mindset that KJ Osborne could end up just being released
00:02:24straight up from this team.
00:02:25He's been a pretty, pretty good pro and maybe they do him a favor that way.
00:02:29But besides that, I didn't know how much sense, you know, going for a veteran and sort of
00:02:35rebuilding at the deadline made.
00:02:36I wouldn't have been shocked if they did anything, but I think standing Pat made the most sense.
00:02:41There wasn't really, at least I don't think too many moves for him to make that would
00:02:44have made sense.
00:02:45Taylor.
00:02:46It didn't really surprise me.
00:02:48I thought maybe Taekwon would get moved.
00:02:50Maybe KJ would get moved.
00:02:52But one, the players that were moved from teams and went somewhere else.
00:02:56Almost all of those players went to teams that are at least in the playoff race.
00:02:59It's typically how this goes.
00:03:00Not a lot of players that want to get treated to two win teams.
00:03:03And then when it came to adding talent, I understood people being disappointed because
00:03:07like not everyone has the time that we have to go through all the candidates for them
00:03:11to potentially bring in.
00:03:12And you just want something fresh.
00:03:13I totally understand that.
00:03:15But it's kind of like free agency where mid season, like Gerard Mayo said, it's not the
00:03:19NBA.
00:03:20It's not baseball.
00:03:21The NFL, it's much harder to get these talented players because there are so few of them on
00:03:25the planet, especially at those premium positions.
00:03:28And again, it's really hard to bring those kinds of guys in.
00:03:30And when it comes to shipping guys out, there weren't a whole lot of options.
00:03:33The guys that we heard about were names that you've seen Anderson kind of confirmed Patriots
00:03:37weren't really considering moving them.
00:03:39Like Gonzo said, yeah, I didn't think I was going anywhere.
00:03:42Like they knew I'm sure the team had open dialogue.
00:03:45The only guy that I thought maybe was Kendrick Horne.
00:03:48But just because he has really good perspective on it and they have a lot of bodies in the
00:03:51room.
00:03:52I agree with Mike.
00:03:53I think KJ Osborne is probably going to end up getting released at some point.
00:03:56I'm kind of surprised it wasn't today, but I don't really know what their process is
00:03:59there.
00:04:00And Taekwon, we said it yesterday, not to be disrespectful, but he's kind of a warm body.
00:04:04And you do need to make sure you at least have guys available in case someone else gets
00:04:08hurt.
00:04:09I'd rather that be KJ Osborne, but he is a veteran who has so much experience in the
00:04:12league.
00:04:13It makes sense to try to let him have another opportunity with another team.
00:04:16Brian.
00:04:17Yeah.
00:04:18Just echoing those points, like for as much as we would have loved, like the Montez sweat
00:04:22deal that Chicago did last year, that was the one we kind of pointed at similar situations.
00:04:27We would have loved them to get a talent like that to build with, but it just didn't seem
00:04:31like that player was available on the market that this go around and you can't just manufacture
00:04:37trades out of thin air, right?
00:04:38You need two sides to make a deal.
00:04:39So it didn't seem like that deal was out there to be made.
00:04:43And then the receivers, you know, once I think Mike Reese had at first and this Sunday
00:04:48notes that maybe KJ Osborne could be released.
00:04:50It's like, why should any team really have incentive to go out there and give up anything
00:04:55of value?
00:04:56It seemed like, like what a Tredavis white go for a seventh round pick swap.
00:05:00Like it seemed like if there was going to be a move, it would be something like that
00:05:04for KJ Osborne.
00:05:05So not too big of a surprise again, maybe one of them gets released the subdition by
00:05:11or addition by subtraction comment by Mayo was kind of interesting this morning.
00:05:15So yeah, maybe there's a move just to free up some of that log jam there down the line,
00:05:19but in terms of trade, nothing too surprising.
00:05:22Yeah, I'm with you guys there.
00:05:25I'm a little surprised they didn't move Osborne or Thornton.
00:05:28And I look, is that going to make or break Elliot Wolfe's tenure as general manager?
00:05:32No, probably not.
00:05:34But I, there were reports that there were multiple teams interested in Osborne and I
00:05:39do believe that.
00:05:41I know they were kind of getting after Bert today on 98, five Albert career about multiple
00:05:44teams being interested in Taekwon.
00:05:46I can see that as a stretch and look, the reality is Taekwon is under contract for another
00:05:52year.
00:05:53He's probably guy you can move in the off season when teams have a better idea of what's
00:05:55going on Osborne.
00:05:57I think because of the production he had in Minnesota as like a compliment, a true complimentary
00:06:02wide receiver to two more top of the depth chart players.
00:06:07I think you look at teams around the league that would see value in that.
00:06:11Now what is that value?
00:06:12Is it a sixth round pick?
00:06:13Is it a seventh round pick?
00:06:15I'd rather have that pick in my pocket when it comes down to making a trade in the spring.
00:06:20And maybe that's one pick I have that another team doesn't have to offer, right?
00:06:24Or something like that.
00:06:25So I think not moving Osborne is a missed opportunity.
00:06:29I didn't expect the bigger trade.
00:06:30I just did.
00:06:32It never felt like the situation was there.
00:06:36These were older guys like DeAndre Hopkins, older, Mike Williams, older.
00:06:40I wasn't super interested in Deontay Johnson, even though he went for what he went for.
00:06:45Maybe taking a flyer on a guy like Jonathan Mingo, but again, you have Taekwon Thornton.
00:06:49It doesn't really help you.
00:06:50So I never thought that move was there.
00:06:53Not an Adam Phelan guy?
00:06:55Not now.
00:06:56No, that never made sense to me.
00:06:57That never made any sense to me.
00:07:01The other thing I'll say, just because I know people were tweeting at me yesterday
00:07:05about this, is I do think it's...
00:07:09So I never expected DK Metcalf to move yesterday.
00:07:11I really wasn't expecting it.
00:07:13I would have been shocked.
00:07:15The fact that Schefter had to tweet he wasn't getting traded to begin with, maybe I'm trying
00:07:23to read between the lines a little too much.
00:07:25Maybe I'm looking for something I want to see.
00:07:27I think the fact Schefter had to tweet that he wasn't getting traded tells you that there
00:07:31is enough buzz behind the scenes that it's not all well and good between DK Metcalf and
00:07:36the Seattle Seahawks.
00:07:37And that's the best news possible for the Patriots.
00:07:40That guy being available this off season, that's the guy they need.
00:07:43That's the guy, blank check, you take the first round, pick off the table, whatever
00:07:48else you want.
00:07:49That's the guy you go get for me.
00:07:51So the fact that it's not all roses in Seattle and maybe they're not the best of friends
00:07:57right now, DK Metcalf and this new coaching staff, this new front office, good news for
00:08:02the Patriots, something to monitor.
00:08:03But I wasn't expecting him to get traded yesterday.
00:08:05So people were like, oh my God, are you okay?
00:08:09Players like that don't, and that's part of the reason I don't think I'm as upset about
00:08:12the Patriots deadline as some people.
00:08:13I never expect anything at the trade deadline.
00:08:17Marshawn Lattimore is about as big as I think you're going to get at that period.
00:08:20So I don't know if you guys have any reaction to that or we can move on.
00:08:24Did anyone move that you would have, like, was there any deal done or move that was made
00:08:28that you would have done if you were the Patriots?
00:08:30Like you're not giving up a third, fourth and six for Marshawn Lattimore.
00:08:34I mean, maybe like what Baron Browning go for like a six, like Baron Browning, I would
00:08:41have been in for a six on the inverse Taekwon Thornton and Jonathan Mingo aren't that different
00:08:46in terms of their player makeup.
00:08:48Like why couldn't the Patriots have fleeced the Cowboys instead of the Panthers?
00:08:52Like that's one where a fourth for that guy, a fourth for something, a pick swap.
00:08:57I would have just been like, you know what?
00:08:59I will, you know, fifth, right?
00:09:01Move up.
00:09:02I was going to say there's a little bit less tread on, on Mingo's tires than Taekwon.
00:09:06I think he's a year older or maybe even two years or two seasons older, if you will, Taekwon
00:09:11is.
00:09:12So I think Mingo is kind of still unknown where I think we kind of know what Taekwon
00:09:15Thornton is.
00:09:16So maybe it's harder, but like you said, instead of a fourth, okay, do a fifth or a six.
00:09:20And I'm, I'm down to fleece.
00:09:21You guys just like that's, if that's the market for totally unproven young receivers, I absolutely
00:09:26would have been on that.
00:09:27All right, well, let's get to these.
00:09:28I think we're going to call them superlatives.
00:09:30I know we put awards in the title, but I think we're going to call them superlatives like,
00:09:34you know, the high school yearbook, that sort of thing.
00:09:36But we'll start with the, with the pretty obvious one.
00:09:39Brian, we'll give you a chance to play catch up here.
00:09:41Who has been the Patriots MV or most valuable player, best player, however you want to define
00:09:45it.
00:09:46Who's been their MVP for nine games.
00:09:50Why am I playing catch up?
00:09:51Did I miss something?
00:09:52We'll get the points down.
00:09:54I'm honestly like trying to do it as fair as possible, but you're one point down through
00:09:59the, through the opening segment.
00:10:00So actually wait, sorry, sorry to cut you off since we're breaking segments.
00:10:03I think we have a friend we have to hear from and then we'll get into this.
00:10:06Yeah, we will do, and sorry I'm behind here, but we will talk about prize picks.
00:10:11We also are going to have a prize picks lineup coming out on my Twitter for tonight's Celtics
00:10:15versus a warriors game at TD garden, Jason Tatum's revenge game against Steve Kerr.

00:11:00This sports season, I think Justin Jefferson will get more than 83 and a half yards next
00:11:04week.
00:11:05Lamar Jackson, more than one and a half touchdowns.
00:11:07Cook up those hot takes with your friends and win real money this football season.

00:11:25After you play that first $5 lineup price picks, run your game.
00:11:29All right, Brian, who's Patriots MVP through nine games.
00:11:33All right.
00:11:34It may be surprising.
00:11:35I'm not going to go with quarterback that wears number 10.
00:11:38I'm going to go Christian Gonzalez MVP through nine games here.
00:11:43He's been, it was an interesting training camp, right?
00:11:47Because there was some chatter that maybe, you know, he's taking, I don't want to say
00:11:51step back, but you know, he gave us some catches in training camp enough to put the antenna
00:11:56up a little bit.
00:11:57But once the regular season started, he's been amazing.
00:12:00The receiver gauntlet he has gone against and shut a lot of those guys down just so
00:12:05good.
00:12:06You know, honestly, they should probably lean more into having a lockdown corner, like play
00:12:11more man to man, rely on that and just, you know, build the defense around Christian Gonzalez
00:12:16here.
00:12:17So he's been awesome.
00:12:18And so I'll go Gonzalez for MVP Taylor.
00:12:23I don't want to repeat picks.
00:12:24I mean, you can, if you want to do this, I'm going to use my, I'm going to use this platform
00:12:29to, you know, hide somebody else who may not be getting quite as much attention, although
00:12:33he is lately that's Anfernee Jennings.
00:12:35Now, Anfernee, I think has been the most consistent player on the team, regardless of which side
00:12:40of the ball, regardless of what position the run stopping ability for him.
00:12:44He's one of the best in the NFL.
00:12:46He leaves the NFL right now in run stops, despite the fact that he actually missed a
00:12:50game.
00:12:51And now we're starting to see now these and every down player more of the pass rush upside
00:12:54where he's never going to be Matthew Judon, you know, or Chandler Jones or any of those
00:12:57guys.
00:12:58But I think the scheme stuff where you have him knife inside and Keon White loops around,
00:13:02I had some sex with some success with that.
00:13:05Sometimes when he's looping inside the pocket, like different things where he doesn't just
00:13:08have to be, you know, some multidimensional rush or you just put him in positions to succeed.
00:13:13But one, I know the video they just dropped was pretty cool where you hear him kind of
00:13:16being more vocal.
00:13:17Like there's one point where I think a coach was like, Hey, if they covered, I was like,
00:13:21Hey, if they score, we're going to go celebrate.
00:13:23He was like, Oh, they're going to score.
00:13:24And then got up and everybody followed him.
00:13:26Like, I think that's really cool.
00:13:27This team has really needed that kind of leadership and I feel like his stock is rising.
00:13:31So, you know, most consistent guy, obviously Gonzo is on a whole nother level, but I think
00:13:36Anthony Jennings in terms of like someone you can rely on is kind of in that conversation
00:13:40as well.
00:13:41Mike, what do you got?
00:13:43Thank you guys for giving me the Patriots best player.
00:13:45It's Drake May.
00:13:46It's number 10.
00:13:47It's easy.
00:13:48We talk about it.
00:13:49Most like they're the award MVP.
00:13:52I just got knocked two points for that.
00:13:53We're not allowed to talk about it, but MVP in sports, it's, it's the most valuable player.
00:13:59It's the person who adds the most value to your team, value to your roster.
00:14:03And that is without question, Drake May.
00:14:04They hit on the quarterback.
00:14:05He's completed 65% of his throws this season.
00:14:08He has 95 rushing yards last week.
00:14:11Not on design runs either.
00:14:12He's able to extend the play.
00:14:13He's making things happen.
00:14:14His footwork looks a lot better than we thought it all would be.
00:14:18I think at this point in time and I just think that they've, they hit on it.
00:14:22It's it's the hardest position to hit.
00:14:25I think right now they don't have, they have questions on a lot of places on the roster.
00:14:29Drake May is not a question for this team.
00:14:31He is an answer and he is the most valuable player I believe on this team.
00:14:35Yeah.
00:14:36So I'm a big, like MVP doesn't mean best player thing.
00:14:38I'm a big put the emphasis on the word value.
00:14:41So I'm honestly going to go a little bit with each of you there.
00:14:44I think their best player has been Christian Gonzalez.
00:14:47I think if we were to, you know, give each player a Madden rating, right?
00:14:51Christian Gonzalez should have the highest Madden rating on any player in the team.
00:14:53He's been really good.
00:14:55The most valuable players, Drake may, because you see what he brings when he comes into
00:14:59the game, the nothing against Chico Versette, but what he is compared to the replacement.
00:15:03I mean, it's night and day.
00:15:05It hasn't turned into wins yet, but the product looks completely different, but which player
00:15:10on the Patriots is most likely to be a pro bowler and all pro.
00:15:15I actually think it's Anthony Jennings cause he has the production.
00:15:17The production's outstanding.
00:15:19And I know, Oh, box score watch or turn on the production means something, especially
00:15:24at that position, especially on a team that can't get any sort of production from anybody.
00:15:29So a guy coming out to lead the league in run stops when I mean, teams can probably
00:15:36triple team, block them if they wanted to.
00:15:37And I don't know that anybody else will step up and make one blocker and then two other
00:15:42polars like it's, I'm sorry, I just love Anthony Jennings.
00:15:44It's so fun.
00:15:45No, you're good.
00:15:46So like to be doing that, it's is impressive.
00:15:50And that's not to say, don't think like Gonzalez is necessarily playing a pro bowl caliber,
00:15:53but he's had his slips and there's other good players at that position.
00:15:58Anthony, if we were to rank each player on the Patriots, where they rank at their position
00:16:03league wide, right, Anthony Jennings would probably have the highest number of any player.
00:16:10If that, does that make sense?
00:16:11Cornerback gonzo.
00:16:12Yeah.
00:16:13There's a lot of good corners.
00:16:14Fair enough.
00:16:15I just think there's a lot of good corners.
00:16:18Yeah.
00:16:19If you're talking about like pure run-stopping edge defenders, like then Anthony Jennings.
00:16:24Yeah.
00:16:25For what his job is, I'm saying for what it's, yeah, obviously there's some elite pass rushers.
00:16:30Marcus Jones, punt returner.
00:16:32Yeah.
00:16:33Maybe.
00:16:34That's one.
00:16:35I mean, he has given them some pretty big momentum swings.
00:16:37Yeah.
00:16:38Like I think they've scored on two of his returns that were like the big returns.
00:16:41But the biggest thing with Jennings is just like, he doesn't make mistakes every week.
00:16:44I'm kind of looking for like, you know, is there, is there anything that teams start
00:16:48doing better?
00:16:49And it's, unless it's the end of the game, like, you know, against the Jags where they're
00:16:52literally completely gas, like the dude never messes up, but yeah, it's.
00:16:59Taylor's all geeked out.
00:17:00All right.
00:17:01So let's move on to the next one.
00:17:03So this is kind of like, like one a one B, which player has been the biggest surprise?
00:17:08And we're going to start off with which player has been the biggest surprise in a good way.
00:17:11And then we'll do, I guess, like let down player, which players been you know, the,
00:17:15the biggest letdown, but we'll start Taylor.
00:17:18We'll start with you.
00:17:19Biggest surprise.
00:17:20Positive.
00:17:21I'm going to go with the dairy and low.
00:17:25Really?
00:17:26I mean, this dude was a lightning rod for controversy going back to last season when
00:17:31he was, when he got the starting job in training camp, I feel like we were just on the dairy
00:17:35and low watch every single day of it's like, oh my God, he's still out there.
00:17:38But then it was like day by day at the end.
00:17:41And you're just like, wait, I don't think I complained about the dairy and low once
00:17:43or saw him lose egregiously.
00:17:45And then I think last weekend was the first sack that he gave up in a game that he admitted
00:17:48was not his best.
00:17:49Now that's part of it.
00:17:50You could see it on the tape.
00:17:51He made multiple errors, but at the same time, if you told us going into the season, even
00:17:56with the time that he missed, the, the dairy and low would have given up one sack through
00:18:00nine games.
00:18:01I think we'd all, even I would have been like, that's crazy.
00:18:03Like that's cap.
00:18:04I like him, but you're doing too much.
00:18:06So yeah, what he's done in past protection, even being somebody that you can remotely
00:18:10say, potentially he's a bridge.
00:18:12If they do end up drafting somebody in the first or second, you don't have to throw them
00:18:14in, but Darian could probably hold down the fort and then this kid can kind of learn behind
00:18:18the scenes or whatever.
00:18:20So yeah, there's been a few players that really surprised me, but Darian is definitely up
00:18:23there.
00:18:24He's been a much better than I think anybody expected.
00:18:27Mike I'm going to go cash on booty 13 catches, most yards per catch on the Patriots this
00:18:33year with just over 15.
00:18:35He obviously had the long touchdown and maze debut against the Texans.
00:18:40And he's someone who is starting to build a little bit or a little bit, excuse me, of
00:18:43a rapport with Drake may.
00:18:45I think you see it in that play where, you know, the game ends last week on the, on the
00:18:49interception across or down the middle, whatever, but Drake's going to cash on booty.
00:18:53That's his guy.
00:18:54When he needs it, you've seen it on a couple of deep throws.
00:18:55Now when, when he needs to go get a guy on that latter half of the field, he's going
00:19:00to cash on booty.
00:19:02The other thing with that is why I think it's a big surprise is Alex van Pelt told us a
00:19:05couple of weeks ago, they didn't see cash on booty as, you know, really I'm not completely
00:19:10quoting him here, but anywhere close to a starter.
00:19:12And now all of a sudden he's playing a majority of the reps for this, this offense.
00:19:16And someone who there was, he's had a lot of hiccups and ups and downs throughout the
00:19:20first 18 months of his NFL career, but he really seems to not just put it all out there
00:19:25when he's playing or excuse me, when he's being targeted through I guess his his targets,
00:19:30but he's also, you know, no block, no rock type of guy where he's kind of trying to lay
00:19:34people out and he's doing all the right things.
00:19:36And I think it's really impressive what he's done.
00:19:37So I'd say that that is the most surprising good on this team, Brian.
00:19:42I was on a Vidarian low too.
00:19:44I mean, this guy was unplayable at times last year, especially on, on the right side of
00:19:50the line of scrimmage.
00:19:51He was, you know, showed some promise on the left, but I remember if you go back to training
00:19:55camp member, the first couple of padded practices, Caden Wallace on the left side, we said, this
00:20:01is looking pretty good.
00:20:02And then they have, I think it was a day off and then they come back and Vidarian Lowe's
00:20:06at left tackle.
00:20:07And we're all looking around on the Hill and we're like, what the hell are they doing right
00:20:11now?
00:20:12Putting Vidarian Lowe out there and fast forward, like two months later, we're like, Drake may
00:20:17can't see the field unless Vidarian Lowe is playing left tackle, right?
00:20:20Like, so credit to him.
00:20:22He learned how to use his hands, like Elliot Wolf said, and you know, he's been much better
00:20:27as a pass protector.
00:20:29Is he stopping me from drafting a left tackle early in the draft?
00:20:33Probably not.
00:20:34But if he's your backup or as Taylor said, your bridge tackle, uh, next year, I'd be
00:20:39pretty comfortable with that.
00:20:41And he's under contract still.
00:20:42So good, good performance from Lowe to start the year.
00:20:46So Lowe's a really good answer, like I think he's kind of the default, but I'll give you
00:20:50one more.
00:20:51I'm surprised none of you guys, well, I'm not surprised Brian didn't say, but besides
00:20:54that, Drake may, Drake may came right in to what is objectively not a great situation
00:21:03for starts in.
00:21:04You have people saying he might be a top 10 quarterback in the league.
00:21:07Look, I didn't dislike Drake may as a prospect by any means, but I mean, this has been something
00:21:13that there really hasn't been really good, really fast, right?
00:21:18The turnovers are an issue.
00:21:19I'm not going to sit here and say, but like compared to what I expected in terms of growing
00:21:23pains, this has not been the first pick he threw against the tight.
00:21:27Like I was expecting that a lot.
00:21:29And that was one, right?
00:21:31He's much more of a factor than his legs than I thought he would be, especially given they
00:21:36won't run him by design.
00:21:38So I, not that I was expecting him to be bad.
00:21:42It's a little different than very low, right?
00:21:44Very low went from what we thought was bad to good.
00:21:47Drake made me went from what we thought was good to maybe great, but just the, the gap
00:21:51there for me is significant.
00:21:54So maybe that's thinking a little bit outside of the box, but honestly, I think Drake may
00:21:58has been the biggest surprise for me for this team so far.
00:22:01Um, can I throw in one honorable mention?
00:22:03Yeah, go ahead.
00:22:04It really does deserve it to Quail and Roy.
00:22:06He's not been like perfect by any means, but this is a guy who I don't think fans even
00:22:10really will know his name.
00:22:12If you're like, all right, who's been playing nose for the Patriots.
00:22:14People would say Devon gotcha.
00:22:16It's been him.
00:22:17And he's been impactful.
00:22:18His first two games, he has a sack in each one and he's top 10.
00:22:22I think run stops and total tackles among interior defenders.
00:22:26He's not even a full-time player.
00:22:27I'm sorry.
00:22:28That's insane.
00:22:29Like you, he may get blown out of his gap every once in a while, but I feel like every
00:22:32week you've seen the mistakes happen less and less and gotcha raved about him saying
00:22:37like he's a really smart duty ask questions.
00:22:39So I just wanted to give my boy a shout out because he's really been a good player and
00:22:42I don't hear anybody talking about him.
00:22:44Well, I'm for what it's worth.
00:22:46We're going off of Devon gotcha shout outs.
00:22:48He compared Drake may to Josh Allen.
00:22:50So, and we know how everybody, but me feels about Josh Allen.
00:22:53So I assume that's high praise.
00:22:54Even if I lose a point for Jaqueline, I mean, we're talking about like the future, like
00:23:00the star quarterback in the dairy and low, just coming out of nowhere.
00:23:04And then like, yeah, the second run stopper, I don't know.
00:23:09He has more sacks than anybody on their defensive line.
00:23:12Not named Keon white.
00:23:14That's actually a good point.
00:23:15All right, there you go.
00:23:16You got your point back.
00:23:17It's a good point back.
00:23:18I wasn't aware.
00:23:19All right, let's move on to, let's go the other way now.
00:23:22So I don't know, like, so I'll actually start with mine because I was going to say surprise
00:23:27bad.
00:23:28We'll call it biggest disappointment.
00:23:29I wasn't totally surprised.
00:23:31I didn't think it would be this bad, Joshua Uche.
00:23:34This is a guy that took a, a prove it deal to come back.
00:23:37Matthew Judon gets traded, clears the way for him to play like a leading role.
00:23:43And just it, it was rough from week one.
00:23:45He just never was able to establish anything.
00:23:49And again, I didn't think he was going to come out, like match Josh match Matthew Judon.
00:23:53I didn't think he was going to be even a double digit sack guy.
00:23:56I thought he'd get to eight or nine.
00:23:58I thought he'd give them something.
00:23:59And it got to the point where he was unplayable and they ended up trading them.
00:24:03So that was the biggest letdown for me when they, when Judon got traded and bar more went
00:24:07out, you know, we talked about who's going to step up, who has the biggest opportunity.
00:24:11I don't know that anybody was given a bigger opportunity on this team than Joshua Uche
00:24:17this year, just based off the circumstance of the roster.
00:24:21And he didn't, he didn't make the most of it.
00:24:23So some of that you could say is the scheme.
00:24:25Maybe some of that isn't on him, but just Joshua Uche as, as an asset to me came up
00:24:30a little short.
00:24:31All right, Mike, we'll start with you here.
00:24:32All right, well, I'll go with the, I'll go with the obvious one now that I go first.
00:24:37And it's, it's because I thought that he was going to be a lightning rod almost immediately
00:24:41for this offense.
00:24:42And it's Jalen Polk.
00:24:43I, one of my bold predictions before the season was that he would be, he could, you know,
00:24:47near a thousand yards.
00:24:48I thought he was going to be as he was towards the end of campus starter immediately.
00:24:52And he looked that way.
00:24:53He scored the touchdown from Jacoby early on and it looked like, all right, here we
00:24:57go.
00:24:58This is, you know, we're, we're starting to get something.
00:24:59And then all of a sudden it's just taken a terrible turn for him, dropped passes, wrong
00:25:04routes.
00:25:05And that's obviously hurt, which is, you know, that's, you know, that's not really on him
00:25:09necessarily.
00:25:10But then he comes back last week, he plays nine snaps, he has penalties on two of them.
00:25:14The mental hurdle thing happens.
00:25:16And this is somebody too, who was regarded as, you know, we, we talked about, I remember
00:25:20Taylor, we were doing our draft shows, like it felt like a big character draft for them
00:25:24where, you know, not necessarily the superstar, but you know, there's no question marks here
00:25:28on guys that are going to come in and compete and say the right things and do the right
00:25:31things.
00:25:32He was regarded as that coming out of Washington.
00:25:34And there was a lot of chatter with the, I got the best hands in the league and all that.
00:25:39It's just, it, it hasn't gone well for him so far.
00:25:41Now, do I think you can turn it around?
00:25:42Yeah, I do.
00:25:43But right now it's, it's really bad and it doesn't look like it's getting much better.
00:25:47So he's my bad, Brian, I'll go a little off the grid on a little disappointing and go
00:25:55Elliot Wolf.
00:25:57And I will say, it would be silly to expect them to rebuild this whole thing in one offseason.
00:26:08None of us were expecting that going in.
00:26:10He'll be here next off season.
00:26:12He'll have the money, the draft capital to build this back up.
00:26:15And he's got the quarterback that he can devote all these resources to building around Drake
00:26:20May.
00:26:21The job gets a little easier.
00:26:22You hit on the quarterback and there were some good things he's done.
00:26:24He drafted Drake May, which if you gave me access to the phone lines, I could have made
00:26:29that pick.
00:26:30Some of the extensions he made, you know, Christian Barmore being, being the top one,
00:26:34like some good moves, his first big trade, the Matthew Judon one nailed that out of the
00:26:39park.
00:26:40Like Matthew Judon is not the same player down there in Atlanta.
00:26:42Atlanta didn't even pay him and to get a third round pick for that big hit.
00:26:47But some of those minor moves, you look at his free agency class, Chucks, a core for
00:26:53Nick Loverett aren't on the team.
00:26:55Armand Watts isn't on the team.
00:26:56KJ Osborne might not be on the team at any moment.
00:27:01Now we don't really know how that's going to look.
00:27:03You know, Jacoby is on the bench.
00:27:05He technically, you know, that's what you expected, but Antonio Gibson is struggling
00:27:10to see the field.
00:27:11Austin Hooper, a depth tight end talkie talkie was hurt.
00:27:15He's struggling to see the field like he missed on a lot of those minor moves.
00:27:19And then if you get to the draft beyond Drake May, are you feeling confident about any of
00:27:25those guys right now?
00:27:26And you don't want to give up on them nine games into the, into their rookie seasons.
00:27:30But you know, Mike just talked about Jalen Polk, the rookie lineman aren't, aren't seeing
00:27:34the field.
00:27:35And you know, injuries has been part of that.
00:27:36Jayvon Baker can't get on the field.
00:27:38The late round guys are what they are.
00:27:39So not, you're not out on Elliot Wolfe.
00:27:43I'm not out on Elliot Wolfe, but some of the minor moves, some of the things he has done,
00:27:48it hasn't looked great in, I don't know, maybe just the confidence level going into
00:27:52next season.
00:27:53Isn't as high as maybe it was when he first got the job.
00:27:55All right, Taylor, you held it in.
00:27:57I'm giving you a point for that.
00:27:58Go ahead, respond, and then we'll get your pick.
00:28:01Honestly, no, I respect what Brian had to say.
00:28:02I'm not going to take time and go against that.
00:28:04That's for another show.
00:28:05I will say like Polk would have been the easy pick there, but I just want to do a little
00:28:09bit different.
00:28:10The repeat pick.
00:28:11That was good.
00:28:12Also real quick on Roy.
00:28:13I looked it up.
00:28:14He leads the Patriots in sacks since week five, when he started playing.
00:28:21I think that says more about the Patriots than it does about Roy.
00:28:24It does.
00:28:25It does.
00:28:26A hundred percent.
00:28:27My choice.
00:28:28I think this one was so obvious that we didn't even think about it because we haven't seen
00:28:31him much.
00:28:32Sidney?
00:28:33So he was someone that we thought was going to be a starter.
00:28:36He was the starter at left guard until he got hurt in training camp.
00:28:40And we have not seen him play in a space where it seemed like they wanted him on the
00:28:44field since.
00:28:45He was a fullback last week.
00:28:47The only other times he's gotten in were when somebody was struggling or got hurt.
00:28:51And again, you thought left guard, he's at his natural position.
00:28:54Last year he was good.
00:28:55And it's odd because he seems to have regressed.
00:28:58But then you see like Vardarian Lowe has been so much better.
00:29:01Michael Jordan has played pretty poorly the past couple of weeks.
00:29:04Might have lost his job.
00:29:06We'll see what happens.
00:29:07But, you know, at least there was a point where you're saying he's playing way better
00:29:10than any of us thought as the first person signed in the offseason, which usually ends
00:29:14up being one of the guys that gets cut.
00:29:17So yeah, I just think I've been really disappointed.
00:29:19I even said when DeMontre played and started like two or three weeks ago, it should be
00:29:24Sidney.
00:29:25Like, yeah.
00:29:26And when he would tackle, you don't love that, but it doesn't really make a whole lot of
00:29:28sense for somebody who you thought was going to take a big step to not even be someone
00:29:33they want to see the field.
00:29:34It's so bizarre.
00:29:36And I think that if he had taken that step forward, this offensive line would look completely
00:29:40different.
00:29:41He and Lowe would have had a summer plus, you know, multiple games of starting experience
00:29:45next to each other.
00:29:46Maybe he makes Ben Brown's job a little bit easier, like all these things.
00:29:49So yeah, by far and away, I even forgot about this when I went on early edition and answered
00:29:55the question.
00:29:56I didn't even think about it because I haven't seen any city.
00:29:58So but yeah, that's that's been really.
00:29:59So let me ask you this, Taylor, acknowledging that we haven't seen a ton of them.
00:30:03So there's not a ton of go off.
00:30:05Is he is the bigger problem that he's regressed and he's not playing well, or is the bigger
00:30:09problem that the coaching staff has quit on him and given up on him and won't put him
00:30:12on the field?
00:30:13I lean more B, but yeah, I mean, they clearly want laid into play.
00:30:18I think that's definitely part of it.
00:30:21But behind the scenes, like why?
00:30:23What is he doing?
00:30:24If he was playing well, why wouldn't they play him?
00:30:25It's not like they've got, you know, dealer's choice of all these linemen who are playing
00:30:29super well.
00:30:30Like almost everyone has struggled to some degree outside of Lowe and when you like no
00:30:35one spot is safe.
00:30:36I don't.
00:30:37I'm hoping that a lot of these spots are honestly different by the time we get to the end of
00:30:40the season.
00:30:41So I think it's a little bit of both.
00:30:42Like when it's this kind of situation, I don't think it can be one thing like, yeah, maybe
00:30:46they're just like this guy's not doing enough.
00:30:48We'd rather go with our guy like the one that this regime picks and the one that like Scott
00:30:52Peters and Alex Van Pelt had a say in Leighton being selected.
00:30:55They didn't have a say in anything about city.
00:30:58So I think that plays a part of it as well.
00:31:00All right.
00:31:01Let's hear from our friends at game time.
00:31:03And then we got a couple more superlatives we want to get to and we'll look ahead a little

00:32:20Download game time today.
00:32:21What time is it fellas?
00:32:23Game time.
00:32:24Yeah.
00:32:26I'm glad everyone did it.
00:32:27Not just Taylor.
00:32:28I thought it was going to be just me.
00:32:31I'll give I'll give everybody a point for that.
00:32:33Um, and then my phone goes, we, we have, uh, for whatever, when we were putting these categories
00:32:40in, we were talking about this earlier and I wrote in rookie of the year because it seemed
00:32:43obvious.
00:32:45Do we need to do rookie of the year?
00:32:46Because even if we do rookie of the year, besides Drake may like, who are we going to
00:32:51talk about?
00:32:52Right?
00:32:53We talked, we talked about Polk has struggled.
00:32:56Cade Wallace has been hurt.
00:32:57He'd probably be my pick by default.
00:32:59Um, late Robinson's probably number two, Marcel style, especially he's like late Robinson's
00:33:05been bad.
00:33:06Jayvon Baker.
00:33:07Can't get on the field.
00:33:08Joe Milton hasn't played a snap.
00:33:10Looks good.
00:33:11Dressed as the third quarterback.
00:33:12So maybe he gets it for that.
00:33:13So we're just going to skip, skip it.
00:33:17Hopefully somebody emerges that we can come back to this at the end of the year.
00:33:19We'll just all like a knowledge that it's, it's, it's Drake may cross the board.
00:33:24Still insane that Marcella style is the second most impactful rookie.
00:33:28Like there's no reality where anybody would have guessed that going into this season.
00:33:32No.
00:33:33Um, so let's go to, this is the last one on the first half and then we have a couple on
00:33:37the second half.
00:33:38What, what is your biggest question?
00:33:43Second guess from the team and the, and this can go back to camp.
00:33:46Like your, your biggest question, your biggest second guess, your biggest, what do you have?
00:33:50Um, of the first half of the Patriots season, Brian, we'll start with you.
00:33:56It's kind of a unique one, but I question it every time they do it and it happens a
00:34:00lot and it's the end of half management.
00:34:02It is a disaster and they get, it's, you know, Barth, we were saying, cause it happened again
00:34:08on Sunday.
00:34:09Like it just keeps, it's rare that it happens so much.
00:34:12Like they've had like six or seven opportunities in a two minute drill, which you know, you
00:34:16don't see that much and they keep messing it up and they keep messing it up on the same
00:34:21way early.
00:34:22You know, Mayo called it a carbon copy when they do the run run and then incomplete pass
00:34:26and they have to punt back.
00:34:28And now, you know, Sunday against the Titans, they go 14 yard pass, nine yard pass their
00:34:33second and one.
00:34:34And I see people tweet in the screenshot of the defensive front and they're like, Oh,
00:34:39it was fine to run the ball there.
00:34:42Who cares about the yard?
00:34:43Like you are moving the football well through the air.
00:34:46If you throw it twice more, you're probably going to pick it up.
00:34:49Or the way Drake may was running the football, you know, with his legs, he's going to pick
00:34:52it up.
00:34:53Like, you're not worried about the yard there.
00:34:55And then you go into heavy and you just try to run it like at Tavondre sweat and Jeffrey
00:34:59Simmons.
00:35:00Like it, it is a disaster and it's, you know, Barth, I'm stealing your rant here, but like
00:35:05you say, you either have to score or take the ball to halftime.
00:35:09You can't punt.
00:35:11And it feels like every time except one and a half, they are punting back to the other
00:35:16team.
00:35:17So every time they get the ball in this situation, which again is a lot, I question it and they
00:35:21just keep messing it up and botching it.
00:35:24Brian quoting me to myself to earn points.
00:35:26It's a little bit shrewd.
00:35:27It's a little bit sneaky, but it worked.
00:35:29Taylor, what do you got?
00:35:31I'm going to go with what if Kate or what if Chuco Corp or had just stayed at right
00:35:35tackle?
00:35:36If he stays at right tackle, because I spoke to him the last day that we all saw him in
00:35:42the locker room and I talked to him, I was like, you know, I know it was rough.
00:35:46Game and he took accountability.
00:35:47He was like, yeah, I opened up too fast, but he also was very clear that like I'm not comfortable
00:35:51on the left side.
00:35:53And obviously we have no idea how deep his decision to retire went.
00:35:56I'm sure that wasn't easy, but I mean, I don't know how much height there was really on the
00:36:01team going into the season.
00:36:02I know they were excited, but like huge, clearly maybe it felt like more of an outsider because
00:36:06he really wasn't picking it up and didn't feel that consistency.
00:36:09You would kept him on the right side and just developed him and put Mike and when he went
00:36:13to the right guard, maybe would have had stability on that right side.
00:36:16Obviously injuries, we have no idea, but Chucos has been healthy throughout his career.
00:36:20Mike and when he was been healthy so far and knock on wood, maybe you would have had that
00:36:24continuity and maybe your run game would look better.
00:36:26I know I kept saying in the preseason he and when he were such a weird fit because it looked
00:36:31like a tight end was sitting next to him when you, because he's like half of him, but still
00:36:35at some point the chemistry starts to get involved and then you can improve.
00:36:38So I feel like if he had still been on the team that would have solved a ton of problems
00:36:43and made it less of a rotating puzzle piece every week and who's going to be a right tackle
00:36:47who's going to be a right guard.
00:36:48Where's the one who this week, the poor guy has played number different.
00:36:51I don't think he spent three straight weeks at the same position.
00:36:53So you know, that's a tough spot to be in.
00:36:55I feel like maybe troops would have stayed if he had known that he would have been able
00:36:59to be in a position where he could thrive.
00:37:01Good one.
00:37:02Mike.
00:37:03I'm going to go with taking Jalen Polk at the top of the second round.
00:37:07I just think that you never know what kind of, uh, or what offensive tackle prospects
00:37:12were there at the time.
00:37:13I can't remember off the top of my head.
00:37:14I know Patrick Paul went like 15 picks later, 20 picks later, and it was basically everybody
00:37:19we expected to be like Guyton went that first round group went, but we're just ahead of
00:37:24them.
00:37:25They at 34 and take a lad.
00:37:26Yeah.
00:37:27That too.
00:37:28It's it's, you could have had a different receiver.
00:37:29You could have had an offensive tackle.
00:37:31You could, uh, instead of trading up from the forties to 37, you could have went all
00:37:35the way into the back half of the first round the night before and taken one of those tackles.
00:37:39Anything but Jalen Polk.
00:37:40And again, I, I, I said it before I'm not out on Polk.
00:37:44I think he can turn this thing around, but as of right now, the wide receiver group with
00:37:48Kendrick Bourne, Keishon, booty, Demario Douglas, they'll probably be fine without Jalen Polk
00:37:52right now.
00:37:53And you could have some extra depth.
00:37:55You could have some, uh, someone else at tackle playing better, even a guard, right?
00:37:59I mean, there's just been, there's been too much back and forth along the offensive line.
00:38:03They're probably going to start their ninth and 10 weeks this week, ninth combination
00:38:06in 10 weeks.
00:38:07And so you didn't, yeah, you needed Polk, but it's not working out and you could have
00:38:11got some better help up front.
00:38:13So mine is sorry, Taylor, go ahead.
00:38:16I just had a question.
00:38:17So I'm, I'm lifted up really McConkey's productions come from the slot.
00:38:20Would you still want him and pop on the same team?
00:38:23Obviously like there's ways you can get creative, but at the end of the day, that's two slot
00:38:26receivers and we talk every week about how they really only have season slots.
00:38:30So, and he's been more productive, but I know we have that in hindsight, but would
00:38:34you want two slot receivers that you basically kind of have to play on a consistent basis?
00:38:38I would've went tackle.
00:38:39Yeah.
00:38:40I would've went tackle.
00:38:41If you have to go receiver.
00:38:42My, my second guest there is I don't love Keon Coleman really just get more aggressive
00:38:47and go up and get Liggett, right?
00:38:49Yeah.
00:38:50If you're talking about trading, you could have moved one of those fourth round picks.
00:38:54If who would you rather have Xavier Liggett period or Jayvon Polk or Jalen Polk and Jay
00:39:00Vaughn Baker, right?
00:39:01Or, or, or Jalen Polk and Lane Robinson.
00:39:03Can we combine them?
00:39:04Well, don't test me.
00:39:05You know, I wanted X.
00:39:06Don't do that to me.
00:39:07No, but that's what I'm saying.
00:39:08People came on our show and told us that the Bills basically trolled the Patriots and we're
00:39:11like, Oh, you want to trade up?
00:39:13Hold one sec.
00:39:14Hey Carolina, want to screw these boys over?
00:39:16Like they tried.
00:39:17Well, I mean, it's karma for what the Patriots did to the Jets a couple years ago, but yeah,
00:39:21like it's, you know, if it's me, sacrifice one of those fourth round picks, move up,
00:39:25get Liggett or maybe a tackle up there or somebody that's what I would done.
00:39:28My biggest second guess though, surprise, surprise and Taylor, I'm actually going to
00:39:32extrapolate on, on your take, just the inability to put together any continuity on the offensive
00:39:38line and the continued mixing and matching and insisting on playing players out of position.
00:39:44And like right down to last week where you just have to get Laden Robinson in the lineup
00:39:48guy can't pass block at all, but we got to move our best lineman out of position when
00:39:52we're facing an elite defensive tackle to get this rookie fourth round pick on the field.
00:39:56They might like Laden Robinson a little too much.
00:39:59You know, they're, they're trying all these different guys that left tackle.
00:40:01They had Zach Thomas out there at one point who they just cut, they moved Caden Wallace
00:40:05out there.
00:40:06He got hurt.
00:40:07I just did the, I think Scott Peters has done a really good job in player development.
00:40:12The ability to put five guys together is not there.
00:40:15Like it, it took them too long to find their best five.
00:40:18They kind of found it by default and then still went away from it to go back to what
00:40:22we'd seen had been a worse combination, or at least not a worse combination, but a worse
00:40:27setup.
00:40:28Mike going, went to it.
00:40:29Right.
00:40:30Tackle is not as good for your team as Michael and went to it.
00:40:32Right.
00:40:33Guard, especially when you're going up against a couple of elite defensive tackles.
00:40:36So the inability to just figure out anything upfront, if they could have just put five
00:40:41up front and stuck with it, develop Caden Wallace as a right tackle all summer, instead
00:40:46of moving him to all these different places.
00:40:48Now you have him, you have on when you have Andrews and he got hurt.
00:40:51I get that.
00:40:53You actually did do a good job with Ben Brown.
00:40:54You have your center, uh, you have Michael Jordan or city.
00:40:56So at left guard, you have low at left tackle.
00:40:59Now you maybe have like a group, but they had to try all these permutations with Leighton
00:41:03Robinson and cross training Caden Wallace.
00:41:06I get cross training lineman.
00:41:07I get that.
00:41:08There's like some value in having guys ready, but if they're not ready to play their primary
00:41:13position, if they're not truly ready to play their primary position, what good is it to
00:41:17be like?
00:41:18Yeah.
00:41:19But like if we need him to be our third guy over here, at least he can do that.
00:41:22I don't care.
00:41:23I don't care at that point.
00:41:24So Taylor, you look annoyed with me.
00:41:26I'm sorry.
00:41:27I hate, I hate being this guy, but I will only push back against that last week.
00:41:30I completely agree putting Leighton in there with Jeffrey Simmons.
00:41:33You keep calling a game record.
00:41:35Maybe you wanted to run the ball.
00:41:37Not a good enough reason.
00:41:38That was a really poor choice outside of that.
00:41:40How many other times were you really saying, Oh, why would they go with this combination?
00:41:43Because I feel like we talked about the cross training and that day where they were mixing
00:41:47and matching and we're like, this looks insane.
00:41:49I got hurt like that weekend.
00:41:51And then it completely flipped everything around.
00:41:53The only guy I feel like who's been out of position consistently is in Wenu.
00:41:57But when he was at tackle, he didn't give up a sec.
00:41:59So like, is he out of position?
00:42:00Yes.
00:42:01But at the end of the day, like you didn't want to put DeMontre Jacobs out there.
00:42:04You didn't want to put Leighton Robins in your fourth round pick.
00:42:06But now it's gotten to the point where, okay, for whatever reason, he looks unplayable right
00:42:11now in Trey, because he's gotten to play another guy who is out of position, but also they
00:42:15have a Darian Lowe.
00:42:16He is their left tackle.
00:42:18He's actually kind of coming along and is solid with Mike and Wenu.
00:42:20So outside of the Leighton Robinson decision, I just don't really think there were a ton
00:42:24of times where I was just like, why would you put this guy in there?
00:42:27Just like, oh, somebody else is hurt this week.
00:42:29Oh, somebody got hurt in the game.
00:42:31Yeah.
00:42:32You have to mix everything just to try to, you know, just keep people where they are
00:42:34supposed to be.
00:42:35But also, you know, keep your, keep certain guys in good positions.
00:42:38Like that's the thing.
00:42:39It's frustrating.
00:42:40It's weird.
00:42:41It's weird to me because like you mentioned Trey Jacobs, he's done a good job and he's
00:42:45come along and he's developed in Brent.
00:42:47Ben Brown has developed pretty much everybody, but Leighton Robinson has developed.
00:42:50I thought even Kate Walsh was showing some signs, but it also feels like they're half
00:42:54assing the development sometimes.
00:42:55Cause like, they're not sticking.
00:42:57They're not just like DeMontre Jacobs.
00:42:59You're our right tackle.
00:43:00It's week to week with him.
00:43:01Right.
00:43:02And these other guys moving them around, think about how much more they'd be developed if
00:43:04they just stuck guys in certain positions.
00:43:06Right.
00:43:07So it's just a luxury they haven't had.
00:43:10I might've forced it if I was them.
00:43:12All right.
00:43:13Let's look at it.
00:43:14I don't know if you guys touched on it on Monday's show.
00:43:17Just a quick questionable decision.
00:43:18I won't go on for long, but having your offense go into the wind and overtime the other day
00:43:22was inexcusable.
00:43:23What are we doing?
00:43:26That is stuff that is like, yes, rookie head coach, first year head coach, you're going
00:43:29to have bumps in the road.
00:43:30But that is one of the things we're like, and the answer where, well, the wind changed.
00:43:34Okay.
00:43:35Well then change your answer before overtime.
00:43:36Like it's, it's not, I don't want to say it's not that hard, but that's something you have
00:43:39to be on top of as head coach.
00:43:40And obviously it's not make or break for the season, but that was very questionable and
00:43:43it's a good point.
00:43:44That's it.
00:43:45That was, I mean, you can't, it's inexcusable period, full stop.
00:43:47Yep.
00:43:48It's inexcusable.
00:43:49Let's look ahead.
00:43:50The second half of the season.
00:43:51I got a couple for this.
00:43:52The first one.
00:43:53And Brian, we'll start with you and what's become very close with the points.
00:43:58What is the biggest question you're looking at?
00:44:02You want to see answered in the second half of the season from the Patriots.
00:44:06So they Elliott Wolf draw now entered the season saying we need to lay the foundation,
00:44:11right?
00:44:13We've even called this kind of year zero in a way, right?
00:44:16You got to get answers moving forward and you would hope some of those come from the
00:44:21rookie class.
00:44:22And if you look outside of Drake may, I don't know if you're confident right now, penciling
00:44:28anyone into the starting lineup for next year right now.
00:44:31So I'm looking for one guy, just one guy in that rookie class to finish the year strong
00:44:38and say, okay, we are confident.
00:44:41That guy can play a role for our football team next year.
00:44:44Whether it's Jalen Polk, you know, gets back on track and show some good chemistry with
00:44:49Drake may maybe Jayvon Baker who ran two routes and he got open on two routes.
00:44:54So we'd like to see more of him.
00:44:55Maybe he gets more time and something happens there.
00:44:57I would imagine it.
00:44:59If any of them, it's probably going to come with one of those two linemen, right?
00:45:02They keep, we just said they keep wanting to play late and Robinson looks like he might
00:45:06be back in the lineup this week.
00:45:08So maybe something happens there or Caden Wallace when he comes back for injury, but
00:45:13I just need one of those guys to beyond Drake may to feel confident about going into next
00:45:19season.
00:45:20Taylor.
00:45:21Biggest question is, can they reestablish the ground game, but Darian Lowe talked about
00:45:26it today.
00:45:27They had a very good ground game.
00:45:28That was what they wanted their whole identity to be.
00:45:30And again, the offensive line, not being able to have chemistry and all these rotations
00:45:34that has something to do with it.
00:45:36But then when you're talking about the Darian Lowe and Michael Jordan, the only two guys
00:45:39who have any real significant chemistry, or at least the most chemistry along this line
00:45:43are the ones who are blowing assignments consistently getting split on doubles, not giving enough
00:45:47help on combo blocks and either letting that guy through or not being able to reach the
00:45:52second level fast enough.
00:45:53And then the play gets blown up at the line of scrimmage and all these running backs have
00:45:56to get 123% of the yards after contact.
00:46:00You cannot go through the rest of the season with no run game and ask Drake made a drop
00:46:03back 45 times a game or 50.
00:46:06You just can't.
00:46:07So this is not sustainable.
00:46:08I think they know that.
00:46:09I think that we've seen that they still are trying.
00:46:12Like everyone got so mad at them for going under center and running the ball.
00:46:15I looked into the early down play calling.
00:46:18There were a couple of packages they use with like the full back package.
00:46:21They got to it from different looks.
00:46:23I kind of liked that when it became clear they were just running into a brick wall.
00:46:26They tried the RPO stuff, but then you're running on light boxes when they're too high
00:46:30and throwing every other time.
00:46:32But even when you're running into like boxes, you can't get any movement like that.
00:46:35You cannot play that way.
00:46:36You are putting the offensive line and Drake main impossible position.
00:46:39So my biggest question is, can you figure it the F out and finally give your offense
00:46:44some breathing room and some flexibility because you're playing a lot of good defenses and
00:46:48this year you cannot be one dimensional.
00:46:51Mike minds the flip side of that on the defensive side of the ball and can they shore themselves
00:46:56up against the run?
00:46:57And there's been a lot of excuse excuses, I guess built in is the right word because
00:47:01they've had a lot of injuries, right?
00:47:03Juwan Bentley has been up for most of the year.
00:47:04Kyle Duggars been out a couple of times.
00:47:06Uh, drill peppers.
00:47:07His situation has not allowed him to be in the game either.
00:47:10So they're, they're nursing themselves on defense a little bit.
00:47:13Christian bombers, obviously not there either.
00:47:15But at the end of the day, after they were called out for being a soft football team
00:47:18for not being able to run the football and not being able to stop the run.
00:47:21Yeah.
00:47:22They want a game against the jets, but they still let up four yards of carry the last
00:47:25week.
00:47:26They let up 4.3 yards per carry.
00:47:27Tony Pollard runs wild on them.
00:47:29And so I just, they go into this season and the question marks and the questions are all
00:47:34about the offense because the defense is fine.
00:47:37They have cornerstone players with, uh, Christian Gonzalez and you know, we already talked about,
00:47:42uh, Christian Barmore on those guys, but it has not been the defense we've seen in the
00:47:46past here.
00:47:47Bill Belichick talked about it all.
00:47:49These guys are not tough.
00:47:50And he mentioned how that's not the defense.
00:47:52I know it comes from the top down.
00:47:54So I just want to see if they can shore themselves up enough where you don't have to make drastic
00:47:58changes on that side of the football going into the next season.
00:48:00The offense can be the focus and the defense is going to be trustworthy enough.
00:48:04So I'm going to go sort of along the line of what Taylor said.
00:48:08Just extrapolate a little bit again.
00:48:10I need to see something from Alexander Pelt as a play caller.
00:48:13Look, he's done a great job with Drake Mays development.
00:48:15You can't question that.
00:48:17Like physical development, mechanical development.
00:48:21Is this the guy we want designing Drake Mays offense?
00:48:25So far, I just feel like there's too many opportunities left on the table.
00:48:28And I know some of that may be due to the personnel he has at his disposal, but the
00:48:32whole point of a guy like Drake May, he's supposed to be so dynamic that almost everything's
00:48:37on the table, right?
00:48:38That you have a ton of options just because solely of what he can do.
00:48:42And maybe it's not the end of like year one.
00:48:47Maybe this is something where he goes into year two on the hot seat.
00:48:49I'm not saying that I'll be ready to necessarily fire him at the end of year one.
00:48:55There needs to be, we need to start seeing a little bit more from this offense.
00:48:59We need to start seeing some more creativity in the run game.
00:49:01Brian, to your point earlier, the two minute drills have to improve, have to be better.
00:49:07You got to see ways for them to unlock some, you know, pop Douglas.
00:49:10It still feels like there's a lot of untapped potential there for his, you know, relationship
00:49:15with Drake May and his chemistry with Drake May.
00:49:17I hate using this term because I just think it's, it's the term is vanilla.
00:49:22I think the offense has been a little too vanilla.
00:49:24I think with the quarterback, like Drake May and look, I get it early on.
00:49:28You don't want to overload them and it's only been four starts.
00:49:30So I'm not necessarily ripping him for not having done it, but Drake May is going to
00:49:35make, what do we have?
00:49:36Eight games left.
00:49:37So he's going to end up making 12 starts by assuming he stays healthy by the time we get
00:49:39to the end of the year.
00:49:40Don't make me do math on the year, but I think it's 12 like he should.
00:49:46The offense should look a lot more sophisticated by starts 10, 11, and 12 than it does right
00:49:50now.
00:49:51So again, building towards something, but build towards it.
00:49:54If it still looks like this later on, uh, I'm, I'm, I'm going to be a little nervous
00:49:58about where he's at as a play caller.
00:50:00And he's somebody that definitely goes into the spotlight, at least goes into the spotlight
00:50:04going into year two, really coaching for his job.
00:50:08I don't know if you guys have any thoughts on that.
00:50:09I'm with you.
00:50:10I know Taylor's been back and forth on AVP, but I think the way Alex portrayed it makes
00:50:14a lot of sense.
00:50:15He's like, he's done.
00:50:17He's done some good.
00:50:18Like you've, you've heard me give this rant.
00:50:21Sometimes we talk about coaches.
00:50:22We're like a guy can be a really good offense coordinator.
00:50:25That doesn't mean he's going to be a good head coach because there's another level that
00:50:28comes with that.
00:50:29I think this is that a step down.
00:50:31I think Alex van Pelt is a really freaking good quarterbacks coach.
00:50:35Really good.
00:50:36I don't know that he's an offense coordinator though.
00:50:37I don't know that I need to see him do more that what comes with that promotion, what
00:50:42comes with that next step and not just offense.
00:50:44I know he's an offense coordinator in, in Cleveland.
00:50:48I agree that there's more that he could do.
00:50:51Like he's not a McDaniel.
00:50:52He's not a Shanahan.
00:50:53He's not one of these guys with all these innovative little things in his philosophy
00:50:56with motion.
00:50:57Even he does it deliberately.
00:50:58So you're never going to see the Patriots under his offense have like one of the higher
00:51:02rates in the league.
00:51:03Just not going to happen.
00:51:04Now I will push back.
00:51:05Like I know Nate Tice has explained how with motion at the snap, it's a little different,
00:51:09but motion hasn't been giving offense as much of an advantage.
00:51:11It's actually a small disadvantage that you have when you use it.
00:51:15So I don't think it's an end all be all, but at the same time, it's hard to see other
00:51:18offenses using it effectively and be like, I wish they did that.
00:51:21It just made life a lot easier on guys.
00:51:23But like looking at last game, so many execution errors where it's like, what play do you call
00:51:29when everything you call guys are like screens, dude, there were so many times that I saw
00:51:35either someone missed their assignment on a screen where it's like, there's someone,
00:51:39the angle where this receiver is going, you have a defender coming that way.
00:51:43Why are you taking the least dangerous person and letting your guy get blown up?
00:51:47Well, there was one, I think it was a screen.
00:51:50I texted Evan about it.
00:51:51I don't remember if I texted you.
00:51:52Cause I needed to text somebody who was there where they go screen right.
00:51:57And the Darian or I don't remember, it was the Darian lower Michael.
00:52:01I think it might've been Michael Jordan.
00:52:02Somebody on the backside, like instantly just goes up to the second level.
00:52:06Like they pull the backside guard on a screen to the second level, which like, I'm like,
00:52:11even if that is your assignment, that's illegal.
00:52:13I assumed it was a blown assignment, but I, that play honestly was like seared in my
00:52:17mind the rest of the day, watching a guard on a, it was a running, it was a halfback
00:52:21screen.
00:52:22So all the actions flown to the right.
00:52:23And you have this one, I, again, I think it was Jordan on the left side, go up and essentially
00:52:28block the left outside linebacker, nowhere near the play.
00:52:31And I assume somebody's wires got crossed cause it was, it was bizarre.
00:52:36So yeah.
00:52:37I mean, when you have things like that, it is going to put a cap on it, but yeah, it's
00:52:41like, you can't execute.
00:52:42Like if you can't run the ball, you can't run screens, you can't run RPO screens, you're
00:52:46running dropbacks and Kendrick Bourne is slipping and not running his routes to the right depth.
00:52:51It's like, yes, he could be better, but you're seeing so many plays where it's like, if you
00:52:55just did one thing better execution wise, this would be fine.
00:52:59Also, I think we should quickly compare like right this week, they're playing an offense
00:53:05in a kind of similar position, a rookie quarterback, they have much better receivers and you know,
00:53:09a new offensive play caller, the bears offense is actually trash.
00:53:13Like it's, it's not even close to any of the bad that you've seen Alex van Pelt.
00:53:17Yes.
00:53:18He has some issues with play calling, but honestly there is no play caller, the Shanahan's
00:53:22the McDaniels.
00:53:23They all have some glaring flaws when it comes to time management, not an excuse because
00:53:26they also make up for it for a lot of things.
00:53:29But like I'm talking Shane Waldron is what people think Alex van Pelt are.
00:53:32It is terrible.
00:53:33You have four receivers in the same area on some plays.
00:53:36Caleb Williams has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.
00:53:39When you look at efficiency metrics, whereas Drake may has been near the top, not been
00:53:43perfect, but at least ABP is putting Drake may in positions as a teacher and as a coach
00:53:48where he can have some level of success.
00:53:50So I just want to throw that out there as well.
00:53:52Van Pelt has not been great, but he's not as bad, nearly as bad as people think he is.
00:53:56So again, I don't think I'm with you.
00:53:58Like, I don't think it's been great.
00:53:59I don't think it's been terrible, but it goes back to the, what is the big overarching theme
00:54:02of this season, which is, are they better in December than they were in September?
00:54:07And I threw four starts and again, I get it.
00:54:10Like you're easing the kid in.
00:54:12I don't know that the offense has progressed as rapidly as I maybe thought it would, especially
00:54:17since Drake may is playing so much better early than I thought he would.
00:54:21And it's like, all right, when are we going to go from, right?
00:54:24It's AVP one Oh one right now, right?
00:54:26It's the entry level course.
00:54:27When are we going to get to two Oh one?
00:54:29When are we going to get to three Oh one?
00:54:31And if players aren't executing it, it sucks.
00:54:34And maybe that limits you some, but at a certain point, if you go 12 weeks and you're still
00:54:39having these core execution issues that limit you from installing more at a certain point,
00:54:45that does start to reflect on the coaching staff.
00:54:46So I just, I, I just, I, it could be worse, but it, it, if it's still like this in January,
00:54:54then there's a big problem.
00:54:55It's not a big problem right now.
00:54:56It's a lowercase P problem.
00:54:58If it's still like this in January, it's a capital case P and that's what I'm looking
00:55:01for.
00:55:02Do they improve that?
00:55:03All right.
00:55:04Last, uh, last superlative here.
00:55:06So among players that we didn't talk about a ton, at least we didn't talk about a ton
00:55:11in like a great light, right?
00:55:14Who has been ho hum, so, so not great.
00:55:19That's going to break out and it's going to establish themselves.
00:55:21We talk about this improvement, right?
00:55:23Finish the year strong.
00:55:24When Bill Belichick would do end of season grades, he'd heavily weigh the end of the
00:55:27season.
00:55:28What have you done for me lately?
00:55:29Sport?
00:55:30Who are we going to get to at the end of the year?
00:55:32And it's like, yeah, he didn't have a great first half.
00:55:34I don't care.
00:55:35He was so good in the second half.
00:55:36I'm really excited for him heading into 2025 Brian, we'll start with you.
00:55:40This one was tough.
00:55:41Honestly.
00:55:42I'm surprised you're not saying Drake may, I thought every answer is going to be Drake
00:55:49except for the bad ones.
00:55:50Yeah.
00:55:51Yeah.
00:55:52Uh, I'm going to go kind of a different rookie and this was inspired by Hunter Henry, who
00:55:56should have got probably some love earlier on this show.
00:55:59All right.
00:56:00But, uh, he mentioned they got to do a good job of getting Jaheim Bell going today.
00:56:05And that's a guy that they've seemed to try and get more involved slowly as we're going
00:56:12forward here, just in terms of snap counts.
00:56:15And then on Sunday against Tennessee, they throw them, you know, a screen, get them a
00:56:19scheme touch.
00:56:20That's how, that's how you want to get him involved.
00:56:21The guy with that skillset.
00:56:22So he's not going to take over for Hunter Henry, right?
00:56:26Like he's your security blanket, Mr. Reliable tight end one.
00:56:29But if he could bring you that a different dynamic to that tight end room with some of
00:56:34those scheme touches, we see him at full back.
00:56:36If you can, I'm waiting for him to leak out of the backfield and hit an explosive play
00:56:41action.
00:56:42They're just not calling much play action or succeeding on play action.
00:56:44But uh, yeah, Hunter Henry said they got to get him going.
00:56:48So I would like to see a little more Bell and they seems like they're headed in that
00:56:52direction, but now we just got to see the production follow.
00:56:55I'll add to that before you guys go, cause he was going to be my pick too.
00:56:57I said this since the draft Bell's unique skillset, not somebody you're going to have
00:57:02full go come September, especially when you're installing a new offense, building it up for
00:57:06Drake may all of that.
00:57:07But he is somebody who should get more involved as the season goes on.
00:57:11And yeah, I want to see Jeanne Bell get more.
00:57:14I don't know that he's going to be like this true breakout star.
00:57:17Like I kind of described setting this up, but I do think he's somebody who becomes a
00:57:20more regular presence in the offense and it's going to happen gradually.
00:57:24It won't happen overnight.
00:57:25It won't happen in one game, but I think gradually you start to see more of Jeanne Bell getting
00:57:28involved as, as we go through the second half of this thing, Taylor, I'm going with my prediction
00:57:33from the beginning of the season, Jayvon Baker.
00:57:37I said that he was probably going to end the season as their most productive receiver and
00:57:40no one's really made it much of a competition.
00:57:42I think that if he is who we think he is, he's probably going to get that just off like
00:57:47his first five chunk plays and end up being one of the most productive guys.
00:57:50But the fact that like Jeanne Bell, clearly Jayvon is someone they wanted to get more
00:57:54involved.
00:57:55You know, he misses curfew after the Germany trip.
00:57:56The fact that he was not only active, but a part of the game plan the next week told
00:58:01me that something changed behind the scenes and he was more locked in.
00:58:04Like you mentioned, he only ran a couple routes last week, but he got open on both and they
00:58:08were the kind of routes that you want your ex receivers in the Drake May offense to run.
00:58:12It's the corner post or the Dino post.
00:58:14It's the deep in cut where it's just like literally that's a concept.
00:58:17It's one guy goes deep.
00:58:19One guy goes intermediate.
00:58:20Pick your poison.
00:58:21Read the safety.
00:58:22If he bites intermediate, you go over his head.
00:58:23If he goes deep, hit it over the middle and hit your guy in space like that's what this
00:58:28offense needs.
00:58:29They need that X receiver.
00:58:30They, I know Keishon booty has been that more.
00:58:33Jalen Pope was a failed experiment.
00:58:35I still think that booty is better as a Z.
00:58:37I think he's got that kind of more dynamic skill set, although he can, you know, moonlight
00:58:40as an X as well.
00:58:41I know he and Jayvon actually practice at both roles, but I think if you put him in
00:58:45the lineup and he plays well and he has the rapport that he always talks about with Drake,
00:58:49may how, Oh, I almost got him to, you know, come to Alabama because we were boys like
00:58:53that.
00:58:54Like if you see that chemistry translate on the field, it makes everybody's job easier.
00:58:59Helps you offensive line because you have that easy button X where you don't have to
00:59:02hold onto the ball.
00:59:03It's just beat your man one-on-one let's go.
00:59:05And then if you have that, then you can rotate Jalen poke in the slot a little bit.
00:59:08If you want or at C Keishon booties jobs easier to Mario Douglas, maybe he gets a little less
00:59:13attention thrown his way in critical situations.
00:59:15So it's gotta be Jayvon for me.
00:59:17I'm really hoping this is the week that we actually see some passes go his way.
00:59:22Mike.
00:59:23So Baker was going to be my answer, but I'm in last place in the point system.
00:59:27So I need to pull something out of my ass.
00:59:28And so I'm going to go with the combination of Alex Van Pelt and Ben McAdoo to be a breakout
00:59:35candidate here.
00:59:36And now we talk about a potential, uh, you know, play calling change and don't think
00:59:41that Alex Van Pelt is going to be fired necessarily just yet.
00:59:44And I got an, I got a point deducted, which is awesome.
00:59:46You set that up.
00:59:48I thought that was going to be something epic.
00:59:49No, I mean, I think that there's an opportunity that they break out play calling wise and
00:59:53whether it is Van Pelt figuring it out on his own or whether that is, Hey, let's, let's
00:59:58get Ben McAdoo in here and slick the hair back and throw on some shades to give the
01:00:02guy a goddamn play sheet and maybe let him call some plays as well.
01:00:06Maybe something happens with the offense where it starts to get that much better as the season
01:00:10goes on.
01:00:11So again, I think Jayvon Baker makes a lot more sense.
01:00:13Taylor, you echoed exactly what I had written down as far as the, you know, the, uh, the
01:00:18London issue and the fact that he was, you know, he's starting to get ingrained to the
01:00:21offense a little bit more.
01:00:22Um, but there, there's also a chance that this offense takes another step and it could
01:00:26have to do with the play calling.
01:00:27So, Hey, maybe they break out and make something happen as the season, as the season ends.
01:00:31I'll give you one more since nobody said anybody on defense.
01:00:34Um, and again, my mind's still Jaheim Bell, but just, just for the sake of the exercise,
01:00:39right?
01:00:40How about Alex?
01:00:41Austin didn't play a ton on defense early.
01:00:44It was Marco Wilson as that, that next boundary corner, he struggled.
01:00:49Austin finally got a look, got hurt.
01:00:51He's been on IR since he was a full participant in practice today.
01:00:55So maybe a sign he comes back this week.
01:00:57They are hurting for somebody opposite Christian Gonzalez, especially against bigger receivers.
01:01:03Austin's built for it.
01:01:04He had a good summer.
01:01:05I'm surprised he didn't get as many chances early in the season.
01:01:08Now this may not pan out because he's played 14 defensive snaps all year.
01:01:13He hasn't been on the field since September 19th, we're going on two months.
01:01:16So maybe he's lost all that momentum he had in a strong summer.
01:01:19Like that's very possible, but they got to give him, he should at least get a chance
01:01:23because Jonathan Jones is banged up.
01:01:26They also might need him at safety because their safety plays not good right now.
01:01:29Marcus Jones has been good, but you put them up against a six, three receiver and there's
01:01:34only so much he can do.
01:01:35And they have some more of those guys on the schedule.
01:01:37Um, again, Marco Wilson has been really good.
01:01:40They haven't tried Marcella style on defense yet.
01:01:42Maybe that's another guy.
01:01:43Isaiah Bolden.
01:01:44Maybe that's another guy, but Austin should start getting significant reps when he comes
01:01:49back as boundary corner on defense, whether or not he rises to the occasion, we'll see.
01:01:55But I feel like we should say somebody on the defense, cause there's gotta be some hope
01:01:58this defense gets better.
01:02:00And ideally it would be somebody up front giving you a pass rush.
01:02:02I don't feel great about saying Keon white.
01:02:04I think we saw his best punch to Quail and Roy, those first two games, right?
01:02:08Maybe it's Quail and Roy, but, um, Alex Austin, you will, I'm more interested in Taylor.
01:02:14You made a face when I said Keon white, why was that?
01:02:18Because he's so he's a weird situation.
01:02:20First of all, his season's kind of backwards where like at the beginning of last season,
01:02:24he kept getting pressures and couldn't finish plays.
01:02:26Then in the second half he started doing it.
01:02:28He hasn't had a sack in like a month.
01:02:32He was really disruptive and all that.
01:02:35Although I will say he's gotten better.
01:02:36And I think he's been more consistent as a run defender and he's getting pressure more
01:02:39than he was a few weeks ago, but like, he's just a really interesting case.
01:02:43I think he's starting to figure it out a little more disciplined, but, uh, I, whatever happens,
01:02:49it's going to be a very interesting end of the season for Keon white.
01:02:52All right.
01:02:53So the inaugural points on the crossover, Taylor comes away with the win with 31.
01:02:58It was all pretty random.
01:02:59I did my best.
01:03:01We can try it again or not guys.
01:03:02We'll discuss it after the show.
01:03:03But Taylor, since you won in the spirit of around the horn, uh, 30 seconds, give us a,
01:03:08Nope.
01:03:09That's not, that's wrong.
01:03:10Uh, 30 seconds.
01:03:11Why can't I just put Taylor up?
01:03:13There we go.
01:03:14Taylor, 30 seconds.
01:03:15Give us a take.
01:03:17What take do I want to have?
01:03:18Um, it can be about anything too.
01:03:20Not just football.
01:03:21Oh shit.
01:03:22It'd be about anything.
01:03:23You sure about that today?
01:03:24You're talking about the, what are they calls behind you?
01:03:27Oh, okay.
01:03:28I'll just introduce everybody.
01:03:30Cause I have been prepared.
01:03:32This is Aang.
01:03:33He's the avatar master of all four elements.
01:03:37This is Dr. Sinister.
01:03:38We don't like him.
01:03:39He's kind of an ass.
01:03:40Uh, Magneto.
01:03:41We're torn about him because he, he speaks some lovely soliloquies, but he's a bad dude.
01:03:47And then more, uh, they're very cool.
01:03:49Actually.
01:03:50Voice actor killed it.
01:03:51Uh, go watch X-Men.
01:03:53Fantastic show.
01:03:54That's my rant.
01:03:55I think that's about 30 seconds.
01:03:56Good job.
01:03:57Taylor.
01:03:58I'm reading the comments and I would have won if I used, uh, Croy Cronk as my breakout
01:04:01candidate.
01:04:02I would have gone Croy Cronk.
01:04:03Get his name wrong.
01:04:04Croy Cronk.
01:04:05Sorry.
01:04:06I would have won.
01:04:07Get out of here.
01:04:08Sorry.
01:04:09All right.
01:04:10Well, that'll do it for this crossover episode of Patriots Beat and Patriots Daily.
01:04:13Uh, for more on both these shows, Patriots Press Pass on YouTube.
01:04:16You can find the show feeds wherever you get your podcasts.
01:04:18Me and Brian will be back tomorrow with a Patriots Bears preview.
01:04:21Uh, Mike and Taylor, what do you guys have cooking tomorrow?
01:04:25Uh, we got mailbag tomorrow.
01:04:26We got our questions in.
01:04:27So we're going to do with that.
01:04:29Also let us know in the comments, um, if you'd rather.
01:04:31We do the mailbag instead of the preview show.
01:04:33If you want both, we can make it happen.
01:04:35I know at this point in the season, things are just kind of so lost, you know, two wins
01:04:41not looking great.
01:04:42I know fans probably care more about how the team can get better than necessarily the ins
01:04:46and outs of the opponent.
01:04:47So just let us know in these comments, we'll check back and make a decision then.
01:04:50But mailbag for sure.
01:04:51We'll be tomorrow.
01:04:52All right.
01:04:53I'll do it for this crossover episode.
