00:00The problem now is that some people in Casiguran, Aurora,
00:03after being hit by a typhoon,
00:06are taking their food and livelihood.
00:09We have on the spot again, Darlene Kay.
00:12Darlene?
00:16Connie, the weather here in Casiguran, Aurora is fine,
00:19but I can clearly see the debris left by the typhoon Nika.
00:23What I'm standing on is a banana tree,
00:26and as you can see, it's totally damaged.
00:29This means that all of the 100 trees here
00:33were destroyed by the typhoon,
00:34which brought strong winds and rain.
00:39When the typhoon Nika landfalled here in the province of Aurora
00:42last 8 o'clock in the morning,
00:44you could feel the strong winds
00:48accompanied by the strong rain.
00:51That's why some houses were destroyed.
00:53Trees fell and electricity poles.
00:56Some places were submerged,
00:57like here in Barangay Marikit in Casiguran.
01:00The rain stopped yesterday afternoon.
01:02This morning, the weather is good,
01:04so there's no more flood here in Barangay Marikit.
01:07But the houses and livelihoods of the residents
01:09were left with the debris.
01:11Father Reinaldo, who works in the banana farm,
01:14doesn't know how to get up
01:15because it will take 4 years
01:18for the bananas to grow and bear fruit again.
01:21Larry, whose house was submerged in the flood,
01:24lost his banana farm.
01:27Here's what our residents have to say.
01:34Even if we were forced to leave,
01:35our life here in Aurora is really hard.
01:38We have nothing to do.
01:39I said, I hope someone will help us.
01:43We really have nothing to do.
01:50I will tell you the truth,
01:51we have nothing to eat.
01:54Okay.
02:01Connie, all the residents of Casiguran
02:04are now passing through here
02:05because the clearing operations ended yesterday.
02:08But there's still no electricity here
02:10and the lines of communication in other places are still difficult.
02:14Meanwhile, the good news is
02:18in the whole province of Aurora,
02:20and here in Casiguran,
02:22there were no casualties,
02:23no one was hurt, no one died,
02:25and no one was left behind.
02:27Connie.
02:28But you mentioned that the lines of communication
02:32and the supply of electricity are still difficult.
02:33Is there a warning
02:35that those will be returned within this week?
02:43Connie, that's what the local officials and especially the residents
02:48that I'm talking to here
02:49are hoping that in the near future,
02:51the supply of electricity will be returned.
02:53But until now,
02:55they haven't been able to say
02:56when the lines of electricity will be fixed
03:00because there are a lot of electricity poles
03:02that fell because of the strong winds and rain
03:05that they experienced because of the typhoon yesterday.
03:08But they are already working with the authorities of Aurelco
03:11so that in the near future,
03:13the supply of electricity will be returned.
03:15Connie.
03:15Was their water affected because of the typhoon?
03:25Connie, no matter what,
03:27there are a lot of houses,
03:28a lot of residents rather here
03:30that have water supply.
03:32Their problem is really just electricity.
03:35And also the lines of communication or signals
03:38in other places here.
03:39Thank you very much, Darlene Cai.
