A woman is becoming a single mum by choice at 41 - and refuses to "compromise" on a man just so she isn't alone.

Natalie Lovejoy has always wanted to be a parent and had expected she would meet a partner and start a family.

But after not meeting 'the one' she decided to go it alone so she didn't "miss out".

She booked a 'fertility MOT' in January this year and her levels came back normal for her age.

But when Natalie realised the cost of intrauterine insemination (IUI) treatment - which involves injecting sperm directly into the womb - she started look at other options.

00:00Hey guys, my name is Natalie. I am 41 and I want to be a mom
00:04So go watch my previous video if you're wondering why she's sharing this it will explain it
00:09I've pinned it to the top of my profile so you can go and have a look
00:11But I wanted to respond to comments like this and thank the amount of people that responded to this
00:18The other another comment that was quite common was you know, that I'd be denying a child father go out and date
00:26Believe me. I've tried
00:28I'm exhausted and I'm over it and there's no reason I can't do it on my own
00:33Now don't get me wrong. I am under no delusion. This is gonna be hard, especially as a solo parent, but
00:40You know, I'm prepared to take it on. I'm choosing to take it on. I'm 41. I've lived I've traveled I've experienced things
00:48This is the next thing that I really want to experience
00:51Yeah, it's gonna be harder solo than it would be in a couple
00:55But look at the original video and the amount of comments that say
00:58I can confirm like the amount of people that are in a relationship still doing it on their own
01:02Or the amount of people that have set out with a partner and end up alone
01:07There's nothing to say women can't do it on their own. We've been doing it for years
01:13Hundreds probably thousands of years
01:16So I'm gonna keep sharing my journey. I
01:20Don't have any updates yet. I went back to work for the first time today after 10 days off
01:24So I haven't made any phone calls or anything, but I'm gonna take a notepad
01:28I'm gonna go through your comments your inbox messages, and I'm going to
01:32Compile notes and suggestions lots of people mentioned going to Spain
01:37It's cheaper there a few other places. I think Greece, but lots of people have great advice. So I will be taking notebook
01:45I'll be trying to reply to as many messages that I can as well
01:49But as you can imagine after going back to work for the first time after 10 days
01:54This little one is a little bit needy now. I'm home from work. So this is Dorothy. She is four. She's partially blind
02:03She's hard work, but you know life's hard we get through it. My name is Natalie and I want to be a mum
02:10So you're probably thinking okay. Cool. All right. What's the story here story is?
02:14I am super single have been most of my adult life
02:18Everybody told me I've meet my person that hasn't happened
02:22So 2024 is the year that I am looking
02:27To become a mum. I don't know how yet. I
02:31Don't know what my options are, but this is a journey that I'm gonna be taking solo
02:36So I am looking to connect with other solo parents. So when I say solo parents
02:42I mean the people that have chosen to do it completely on their own not people that have
02:45The relationship breakdown or something like that, but also I don't know a ton about the options
02:52For people in the UK, so I am looking to connect with people who have taken a solo journey
02:57male, female, adoption, IUI, IVF
03:03When I found a stranger on the internet, I don't know how it works
03:06But this is the year that I want to become a mum
03:09Obviously, it's you know, quite a vulnerable thing to put yourself out on the internet and share that
03:14So be kind I know
03:17The internet can not be kind
03:20But yeah, I am looking to connect with people who have done the solo parenting thing and I want to know what journey you took
03:27What steps you took what?
03:30Anything all the information so feel free to drop me a DM if you have got any tips or
03:34information that you would be willing to share with me and
03:37I will hopefully share my journey with you all
03:40I would just like to put out that I am open to all avenues of how to become a mum
03:46I don't know when I say I don't know what my options are
03:48I mean, I don't know whether I'm able to yet or
03:52Part of my process is going to be doing checks and things like that with the hospital
03:57but I'm 41 and
03:59I've never been pregnant
04:00So I when I say I don't know what my options are, it's more that I know that adoption, IUI, IVF, all that kind of thing
04:06are the options
04:08sperm donor, that kind of thing
04:09So yeah, I am 41 and I've never been pregnant. I've always been very careful
04:15That could be it there could be nothing wrong
04:17But I guess first steps is finding out options and I also should probably say follow along come and join me on this journey
04:23I don't know where I'm going. I don't know what's gonna lead to but you're more than welcome to be here
