00:00Hope explained why the places where the storms are passing by are all the same.
00:05If we will count, there are already 6 storms that are passing through the country.
00:10Benjie Durango of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.
00:15There are 24-hour to 36-hour lead time, the hope is that the public will be prepared
00:21for the upcoming 2 storms, Ophel and Pepito.
00:23These storms are the 5th and 6th that will pass through the country.
00:28Some towns in the Cagayan Valley region are not yet affected by the floods.
00:31But the eastern coast of Isabela and Cagayan is facing another storm.
00:36Because of the non-sister storms, the public's question is now one.
00:39The so-called track of the 3 storms, Nica, Ophel, and Manny,
00:47are supposedly the same. Why are they initially the same?
00:53Hope explained, the track of the storm is north of the Philippines.
00:57But there is a weather system that avoids storms, that's why it passes through Northern Luzon.
01:01The storm avoids the reach of high-pressure area.
01:05Because it is in the northern part, it cannot move to the south.
01:08More on Pakanluran or westward, this movement is happening.
01:11In PTV's research, a scenario like this happened in 1948,
01:16where 6 storms entered the country in the month of November.
01:20This happened again in 1956, 5 storms in the month of November.
01:24The place where it formed is also a big factor, especially this storm cluster.
01:29It happens whenever the temperature of the Pacific Ocean is high,
01:32which is 27 degrees Celsius.
01:34The high temperature in this part of the Pacific Ocean is the same as that of the red color.
01:39That's where the next storms pass through the country.
01:41If there is anything different happening now in the formation of storms,
01:45that is the lowering of its number.
01:47It was monitored back in 1948, when the scientific records of hope started.
01:53The number of storms that enter the park is decreasing.
01:58The frequency is decreasing.
02:00But in terms of intensity of the storms,
02:03that is the increasing trend that we are seeing.
02:06Our storms are becoming more intense.
02:09In fact, based on our historical record,
02:13from 1948 up to 2023,
02:17typhoons are the most common category.
02:20Fortunately, there is no evidence that typhoons can enter the park.
02:26If the Northeast Monsoon, Visayas, or Mindanao is strong,
02:29typhoons can hit the park.
02:31This can happen in December,
02:33when two more typhoons enter the park,
02:34which are expected to form in the Pacific Ocean after Pipito.
02:38BSWD is sure that the 92,302 family food packs are ready for Cagayan Valley.
02:45Aside from that,
02:46the 2.2 billion pesos of aid is on standby for the typhoon.
02:51There are more than 80 million pesos of additional standby funds,
02:551.3 million family food packs,
02:57and more than 860 million non-food items.
03:01The government's target is no one will be hungry and zero casualty,
03:05even if the country is hit by the next typhoon.
03:08From PTV, Benji Durango, for Balitang Pambansa.
