00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. made it clear that the country will not help in any investigation
00:06by the International Criminal Court or ICC,
00:08also known as the War on Drugs of the previous administration.
00:11According to the President, if the former President Rodrigo Duterte wished,
00:16the government will not interfere here.
00:18The details of the national news of Clazel Fardilla.
00:23We will not interfere with the ICC.
00:27We will not help.
00:29But if he agreed to talk or investigate in the ICC,
00:36it's up to him.
00:37We have no decision there.
00:40President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. insisted that
00:44he will not help in the International Criminal Court,
00:47as part of the investigation into the bloody fight against illegal drugs
00:52under the administration of the former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:56But the government will not stop Duterte's decision
01:00after the ICC pursued him,
01:03which accelerated the investigation into his fight against drugs.
01:07It is said that 6,000 to 30,000 people were killed in Duterte's anti-drug campaign.
01:13Under the leadership of the ICC,
01:15the International Criminal Police Organization or INTERPOL,
01:19filed a case against Duterte
01:21and requested a red notice from the Philippine authorities.
01:26We have obligations to INTERPOL.
01:29We have to live up to those obligations.
01:33We'll see. We'll see how far it goes.
01:39We'll see what the ICC does.
01:41Solicitor General Menardo Guevara said
01:44that helping INTERPOL is an obligation
01:47while cooperating with the ICC is a political decision.
01:52It is considered one of the most important organizations in the world, INTERPOL,
01:57that helps countries fight international crime.
02:01The ICC's cooperation with the ICC
02:04is not new to the Philippine police force.
02:06It became a key factor in the involvement of the former mayor, Alice Guwo.
02:11If there is a warrant issued,
02:14and INTERPOL asks for our assistance,
02:18then, like I said, the PNP, particularly the Philippine National Police,
02:22is bounded by the security protocol with respect to assistance
02:26to be provided with our foreign counterparts.
02:30In 2019, the Philippines left the ICC.
02:34That's why President Chris Escudero asked Duterte.
02:39How will President Duterte operationalize the ICC?
02:43He's the one who left.
02:45No, I'm just saying.
02:47How?
02:48The Philippines was not divided because of him.
02:53And now, he'll make things easier for the ICC?
02:57Again, I'll go back to the question.
03:00How will he operationalize it?
03:02That's a better question.
03:04How will he plan to do that?
03:08In front of this, President Marcos said
03:12that he will continue the investigation within the country
03:15regarding the extrajudicial killings.
03:18The Justice Department will study the so-called Slutani Duterte
03:23and see if it can be used to file a case.
03:41...seen the justice for the murders of their children.
03:45And that's still, so that is the DOJ's responsibility
03:51to continue to examine all bits of comments,
03:57of statements, of testimony, and eventually of evidence
04:01to see if that justifies a case to be filed.
04:05From PTV, Kalei Zalpardilla, Balitang Pambansa.
