University fees in England are rising, we spoke with the public on their views on whether students should have to pay for university here and is the cost becoming too high for the average family?
Transcript
00:00It's definitely too far high. The reason why we have these loan systems in place is because no one can just, well some people can, most people can't just pay it.
00:07I think definitely Durham is an interesting one because we're so close to Scotland.
00:11Like it's only like however far it is, but if you go just a little bit up on the train there's so many students that are getting an education for free, which is a right.
00:20I think everyone should be able to study what they want and have access to jobs which are sometimes only available to people who are getting degrees.
00:27Everything's going up in price and if, when it comes to university it's hard to get a job as it is. At our age it's hard to get a job.
00:33So if you plan on going to university and the prices are going up it's rare that you're going to find, like be able to pay for that.
00:39I think absolutely it should be free but I don't think it ever really will be. I think that's, I think, well yeah, but I just think it's a really big reach.
00:47But I think the fact it's increasing and it's already £9,250 and that's just your university tuition fees, that's not even your maintenance loan.
00:55So I mean, we've just done our first year and I'm nearly £20,000 in debt already.
