With students in Scotland having the option to study at university for free, we thought that the recent announcement that prices for students in the rest of the UK would increase was the perfect opportunity to ask people on the street which system was fairer.

00:00Hi I'm Theo and welcome to People on the Street. Today I'm out in Manchester asking people about
00:03university tuition fees and that's because there's quite a variation in the UK when it comes to that
00:08very topic. In Scotland they're free whereas in England we found out recently that they'd be
00:13raised. We want to know whether people think it's fair to raise up the prices of tuition.
00:17I think it should be free. I think all education should be free.
00:23Obviously Scotland, yeah. I think the fees in the UK are ridiculous anyway
00:29so I've done an undergraduate and a master's degree. Obviously undergraduate degrees are like
00:34a price anyway but then like I think with like postgrad with the interest that you pay on top
00:38of that like I think it's kind of ridiculous so yeah okay. First of all I think a lot of
00:44universities have opened up and I think I'm not being disrespectful but I think a lot of the
00:49subjects that they're taking are not university standards. I'm not going to pull anything out
00:55but that's just my opinion so yeah I think that a lot of them could do a lot better.
