Malaysia may be the chair for the ASEAN and ABAC-Asean Caucus next year, but the 10-member block will continue to work together as one under the concept of centrality, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He expressed his deep appreciation to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) for its unwavering commitment to promoting ASEAN-focused initiatives through the ABAC-ASEAN Caucus.

00:41caucus comprises seven ASEAN members, namely Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines,
00:49Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, who are part of the APEC.
00:53Anwar, who is in Lima to participate in the APEC Economic Leaders' Week, said the ASEAN
00:59bloc remains unique as one of the most peaceful regions in the world, except for some minor
01:04issues with Myanmar.
01:05Meanwhile, Anwar also held a discussion with technology giant Google in the capital of
01:11Peru on Thursday, focusing on data centres and artificial intelligence.
01:17He said that appropriate attention needs to be given on strengthening the AI and data
01:22centre ecosystem, especially in terms of the relevant rules and regulations to prevent
01:28data leakage and exploitation with malicious intent.
01:32He told the media after meeting with Google's head of delegation, Karan Bhatia, who is its
01:37global head of government affairs and public policy, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific
01:42Economic Cooperation Summit 2024.
