00:00The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has urged online news portal Malaysia
00:07Kini to take down an article and video related to allegations of corruption involving the
00:12issuance of state mining licenses.
00:15According to Malaysia Kini, the letter from MCMC dated yesterday claimed that the article
00:20and video could interfere in the police probe into the alleged death threat against the
00:24purported whistleblower.
00:27The MCMC also said the article and video could compromise the safety and privacy of
00:31the complainant.
00:33Last Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Razarduddin Hussain confirmed that the alleged
00:37whistleblower who sent an open letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agung on the alleged bribery
00:42had received a death threat.
00:44The video in question featured footage of Tempaso Assemblyman Arsad Bistari who spoke
00:48about a RM17 million project being blocked and allegedly blamed the old team, which reportedly
00:54includes State Finance Minister Masidi Manjung.
00:57Yesterday, Arsad said his remarks made in the video allegedly linked to the Sabah Assemblyman's
01:02corruption case were made in jest, claiming the recording was edited and circulated with
01:06malicious intent.
01:08Arsad also denied allegations that he blamed Masidi and Sabah Chief Minister Haji Jinnur
01:13for blocking his project, saying that the matter was deliberately distorted.
