00:00Some families in Isabela now have a problem on how they will start again.
00:05Their livelihood is more affected and their house is destroyed.
00:10Isaiah Mirafuentes of PTV in Balitang Pambansa.
00:15It's past 1 o'clock yesterday when it started to rain and wind here in Santiago City, Isabela.
00:21There are no more people on the streets of the town of Santiago
00:24because of the fear that they might get caught if they go out of the house.
00:29It's past 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the wind and rain are getting stronger.
00:33The whole area has almost zero visibility.
00:36If most of the people are inside the house,
00:39there are some families who are inside the evacuation center
00:42because their house was lost during the previous typhoons.
00:46Just like Maneline, she earns P250 per day for her rent.
00:52The problem is, because of the typhoon, she can't work.
00:56Her entire house was destroyed because of the strong wind
01:00and the heavy rain that fell after the river overflowed
01:04near the house where she lives when the typhoon Mika hit.
01:09While I was carrying my things,
01:12the fire was spreading one by one.
01:15That's why I was so scared.
01:17I don't know, I just cried inside my house
01:20because I might get hit by the fire.
01:23This is what happened in a barangay here in Santiago City, Isabela.
01:27Because of the strong flow of the river during the typhoon Mika,
01:30the river flooded 15 houses.
01:34That's why the problem is,
01:35the residents here are even more worried about the arrival of Super Typhoon Pepito.
01:40The typhoon was so strong that it flooded other houses and trees.
01:44The water even overflowed.
01:46Now, there's another typhoon coming,
01:48that's why the remaining things are getting destroyed.
01:52That's why while the typhoon Pepito was coming,
01:55they stayed in the evacuation centers of the barangay and the local government.
02:01The typhoon was so strong that while we were in Silong in the municipality,
02:05some residents were forced to go to the city hall.
02:08They packed their children and their belongings
02:11because the place where they live was almost destroyed by the typhoon Pepito.
02:15While the local government of Santiago,
02:17or PNP, AFP, and BFP,
02:20carried out a forced evacuation to their many barangays.
02:2421 of their barangays are flooded every time there's a typhoon.
02:30The most pitiful thing is for our farmers,
02:34because of the continuous rain and wind.
02:37Of course, you know that when there's wind, the crops are still growing.
02:43Meanwhile, the LGU will provide help to those who lost their houses.
02:46But they admitted that it's not enough,
02:49that's why they are asking for help from the national government.
02:52The DSWD has sent some relief goods to their barangays.
02:56The LGU of Santiago is also trying to meet their target of not starving their residents.
03:03That's why they are also preparing food for the evacuees.
03:07From PTV, I'm Sayang Mira Fuentes, Balitang Pambansa.
