00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for Nintendo games we're excited
00:13to get our hands on in 2025.
00:17Although Nintendo is keeping next year's plans relatively quiet with a new console
00:21reveal on the horizon, there are still some enticing games to look forward to.
00:26While a few of our picks are also coming to PC, we prioritized console exclusives for
00:32this list.
00:33Together, we resolve to forge a new way of life here on Mira, come what may.
00:41Number 10.
00:42Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
00:48Nintendo is starting off the year by giving one of the best games on the Wii a new coat
00:53of paint.
00:54Those who missed out on Donkey Kong Country Returns, or players who just want to revisit
00:59this excellent platformer, will be able to do so on January 16th.
01:04The HD port obviously brings a nice visual upgrade, though it will also include the bonus
01:09levels from the 3DS version.
01:11Considering the original was also pretty difficult, there will also be an option to give DK and
01:17Diddy some extra health.
01:18While we'd prefer to get a new game and $60 for an upgraded Wii title is frankly ridiculous,
01:25there's no denying how fun this game is.
01:37Number 9.
01:38The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky The First
01:50Originally released only in Japan on PC in 2004, western players didn't get their hands
01:57on this RPG until 2011, when it was ported to the PSP.
02:01Trails in the Sky has since gained a passionate following through sequels, becoming a strong
02:06spinoff series of the Legend of Heroes franchise.
02:10Now a remake is coming to Switch, and since it's a worldwide release, we thankfully won't
02:15have to wait years to play it.
02:18The refreshed visuals so far look very impressive, and we're interested to see what new tweaks
02:23and changes have been made to mechanics.
02:26The story and characters are utterly charming, however, and we don't doubt there are new
02:31legions of fans who will fall in love with them.
02:41Number 8.
02:43Moth Qubit The first brand new game on our list is a
02:50satirical look at corporate life with a unique take on combat.
02:55Moth Qubit follows the titular bug protagonist as he navigates life as an office worker drone,
03:01but after accepting a big promotion, Moth will find himself at a turning point.
03:06Inspired by the writings of Franz Kafka and Albert Camus, it will blend anti-bureaucratic
03:11thinking, surrealism, and an RPG battle system reliant on dialogue.
03:17The top-down pixel art style looks great, and the imaginative take on office life has
03:22us intrigued.
03:23Although it will also release on Steam, Nintendo players can dive into the absurdity next spring.
03:34Number 7.
03:36Star Overdrive If you like delving into the secrets of mysterious
03:45alien planets, Star Overdrive is one to keep an eye on.
03:49Another indie game also coming to Steam, it'll task you with uncovering a planet's
03:54secrets after receiving a distress signal.
03:56What has our interest is the heavy focus on a hoverboard, which your character will use
04:01not only to navigate biomes and uniquely designed structures, but to survive in combat as well.
04:08There look to be plenty of creatures big and small for us to conquer, and if gameplay is
04:13as smooth and quick-paced as it seems to be, both the traversal and the fights should be
04:18exhilarating.
04:25Number 6.
04:27Fantasy Life I – The Girl Who Steals Time The Fantasy Life series from Level-5 gained
04:41a sizable following on the 3DS.
04:44Fans have been waiting quite a while for a Switch installment, which has suffered a
04:48few delays.
04:50But it seems The Girl Who Steals Time will finally be out in April of next year, barring
04:55any other setbacks.
04:57The role-playing life sim will place you on a strange, ruined island, where you'll travel
05:01between the past and present to uncover its mysteries.
05:05The cute art style has always delighted fans, but there's a lot of depth in what you can
05:09do in the upcoming game.
05:11Fighting, gathering resources, and crafting all come with a variety of sub-categories
05:17so you can live your new life as you see fit.
05:27Number 5.
05:28Rune Factory – Guardians of Azuma Rune Factory has long been a standout in the
05:41farming, social simulation genre, thanks to its implementation of fantasy elements.
05:47Next year, fans are getting a brand new installment in a spinoff, Guardians of Azuma.
05:52It will feature unique lore, chronicling the fallout of Azuma's land being broken up
05:57by a catastrophic event and the absence of its gods.
06:01It'll be up to you to rebuild and revitalize entire villages, bringing peace back to citizens.
06:07It won't all just be mystical farming and town construction, though.
06:11As the so-called Earth Dancer, players will combat fantastical creatures and choose a
06:16romantic path to follow as well.
06:19Fans of the series new and old can check it out in spring of next year.
06:27Number 4.
06:28Xenoblade Chronicles X – Definitive Edition
06:37With the Switch, there are several franchises that have grown more popular as the system
06:41has continued to sell well.
06:43Xenoblade Chronicles is one of them, and on March 20th, 2025, all entries will be available
06:50on the platform.
06:51This spinoff originally released on the poor-selling Wii U, meaning there's now a sizable fan
06:56base waiting to experience it for the first time.
06:59It follows the last remnants of humanity exploring a possible new home on the planet Mira, contending
07:05with its wildlife, and charting it for the first time.
07:09Those who played it adored the combat, art direction, and world design.
07:14The Definitive Edition will bring enhanced visuals as well as new additions to the story.
07:27Number 3.
07:29Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
07:40It's been a little while since we last saw Professor Layton, and we honestly can't
07:45wait for his return.
07:46The series gained popularity across the DS and 3DS due to excellent puzzles, wonderful
07:52art styles, and lighthearted yet tantalizing mysteries.
07:56The new story will be set after the original trilogy, following Professor Layton in a town
08:01in the midst of a technological boom.
08:03The locale's steampunk aesthetic is certainly alluring.
08:07Every single building we've glimpsed pops with personality.
08:10Plus, the plot revolving around a ghost cowboy definitely grabbed our attention.
08:16Level-5 has consistently delivered wonderful puzzlers, and we're looking forward to having
08:21our brains teased when the New World of Steam releases next year.
08:33Number 2.
08:35Pokemon Legends Z to A
08:372022's Legends Arceus was a great spin on the Pokemon formula, being even better than
08:50some recent entries in the main series.
08:53So we were more than happy to hear it was getting a follow-up.
08:57Where Arceus reimagined the Sinnoh region long before Diamond and Pearl, Z to A will
09:02focus on the urban redevelopment of Lumiose City, introduced in the 3DS's X and Y.
09:09There's a lot we don't know about the game yet, like what exactly the story is or
09:13what additions to gameplay Game Freak has made.
09:16However, the news of it releasing simultaneously on Nintendo systems means it's one to look
09:21forward to whenever the highly-anticipated Switch successor releases.
09:47Number 1.
09:48Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
09:54This one has been a long time coming.
09:57Announced back in 2017 before work was restarted with original developer Retro Studios, Nintendo
10:04grew hesitant to share many details on Metroid Prime 4.
10:08Thankfully, the wait is finally nearing its end, as a new trailer revealed it's coming
10:12in 2025.
10:14Much of the game is still shrouded in mystery, though we do know that Psylux, a minor villain
10:19in previous games, will play a key role.
10:22Metroid has reached new sales heights on the Switch, which also saw an HD remaster of the
10:28first Prime, much to our delight.
10:30That just means that there are more players anticipating this release than when it was
10:35initially announced.
10:36Whether it's on Switch or the new console, we'll be there on Day 1.
10:43What's the Nintendo game you're looking forward to the most in 2025?
