00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for 2025's biggest video
00:08game releases that we can't wait to play.
00:21Number 10 – Metal Gear Solid Delta, Snake Eater
00:23Finally, Konami has started to get on the remake train.
00:31This began with Silent Hill 2 in 2024, which defied expectations to be one of the year's
00:36best releases and is set to continue with a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.
00:40It's been years since we've had a mainline Metal Gear game, thanks to Konami parting
00:44ways with Hideo Kojima, to put it lightly.
00:46But with a beloved template to work from, we're sure that Delta will prove to be massively
00:50popular.
00:51To let him play the original, this one follows Naked Snake as he's sent deep into Soviet
00:55territory to extract a valuable rocket scientist and, of course, eliminate the latest Metal
01:00Gear that the USSR has built.
01:08Number 9 – Death Stranding 2 – On The Beach
01:15While Konami is trying to capitalize on Kojima's enduring popularity, Kojima himself is releasing
01:19the sequel to 2019's Death Stranding in 2025, too.
01:23Subtitled On The Beach, Norman Reedus will return as Sam Porter Bridges, and the game
01:27will supposedly examine the pandemic, according to Kojima.
01:30We're sure that it'll be even weirder than the original game now that we've already
01:34been introduced to the bizarre world of BTs, BBs and Monster Energy Drink, and the 9-minute
01:38trailer did not disappoint.
01:41It was extremely strange in ways only Kojima can dream of, featuring robot dogs, a guitar
01:45gun and a talking Guillermo Del Toro puppet so far.
01:55Number 8 – Claire Obscure – Expedition 33
02:06Heading to all major platforms sometime next year is this turn-based RPG from Sandfall
02:10Interactive, a new and unproven studio hoping to make its name with this ambitious title.
02:15The RPG is set in Belle Epoque, France, and follows a group of would-be heroes as they
02:19try to take down a goddess, the Paintress, who annually wipes out everyone of a certain
02:24age from existence.
02:25One day, she'll reach zero and everyone will be dead.
02:28Though it's turn-based, the combat also features dodge and parry mechanics, making
02:32it look to us like if FromSoftware decided to make a turn-based RPG.
02:36That bodes very well indeed, and we can't wait to see exactly how the game turns out.
02:47Number 7 – Fable
02:52A reboot of the beloved Fable franchise is slated to drop on PC and Xbox in 2025, and
02:58yes, it'll be landing on Game Pass Day 1.
03:00Fable is another once-huge Xbox IP that has been left to languish for years, and we're
03:05very excited to finally get our hands on a new one.
03:07Developed by Playground and running on its proprietary Forzatech engine, we're sure
03:11of one thing – the game will look phenomenal with best-in-a-generation graphics.
03:16We don't know about the plot, but we have seen and heard a lot of popular British comedians
03:20in the trailers.
03:21It's been in development for at least seven years, though, and was announced in 2020.
03:25Will it be the reboot Fable deserves?
03:27We hope so.
03:34Number 6 – Doom The Dark Ages
03:43It will have been five long years since the launch of Doom Eternal at the beginning of
03:46the pandemic, and id Software is finally back to give us another installment of top-tier
03:51FPS gameplay.
03:52While Doom Eternal moved the story along and brought things down to Earth, The Dark Ages
03:55is a prequel following the Doom Slayer's rise to demon-slaying, hell-defeating glory.
04:00The Dark Ages won't be confined to PC and Xbox, and will be landing on PS5, too.
04:05It's also going to lean into more fantasy elements with a pseudo-medieval setting, in
04:09contrast with the higher-level sci-fi of the other games, hence the name.
04:19Number 5 – Avowed
04:20Finally, it's time for a game with a concrete release date – February 18th.
04:27Avowed is the next game from Obsidian, and is a first-person ARPG set in the universe
04:31of Pillars of Eternity.
04:32Considering The Elder Scrolls VI is probably still a decade away at this point, Avowed
04:36is the next best thing, and could potentially be an Elder Scrolls killer if Obsidian's
04:41glowing track record is anything to go by.
04:43It was originally slated to release in late 2024, but was delayed to avoid competing with
04:47other big games, only for many of those games to be delayed, too.
04:51But Avowed will be a great way to introduce new players to the rich lore of Pillars of
04:55Eternity.
04:59Number 4 – Monster Hunter Wilds
05:06Always a popular series, Monster Hunter is returning in 2025.
05:10This time, it's going to be launching across PC, Xbox, and PS5 first, as opposed to Ryza's
05:14Nintendo Switch launch.
05:16Dropping on February 28th, we're sure it'll prove to be a big hit from Capcom.
05:19It's going to be yet another visual masterpiece from the series, sure to push the limits of
05:24what the current console generation can do.
05:26Recent trailers have shown off one of the most bizarre monsters the franchise has yet
05:29produced, the Black Flame, a giant octopus-like creature that breathes fire and is covered
05:34with oil.
05:41Number 3 – Metroid Prime 4 – Beyond
05:52Is the wait finally over?
05:54Metroid Prime 3 released all the way back in 2007, and after restarting development,
05:58it looks like Metroid Prime 4 is finally going to drop on Switch in 2025.
06:02It's yet another game with no concrete release date, but Nintendo has given it a year, which
06:06must mean the company is confident enough that it'll come out within 12 months.
06:10It's also still announced for the Nintendo Switch, which could suggest it'll come out
06:14earlier in the year before the Switch, too.
06:16But unlike some other big Nintendo games slated for next year, we have seen gameplay and it
06:20looks fantastic even on a 7-year-old console.
06:29Number 2 – Ghost of Yotai
06:38Coming five years after the release of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch's follow-up is
06:42sure to be a system-seller for the PS5 Pro.
06:45Yotai will be moving the series to the 17th century and the northern island of Hokkaido,
06:49and it'll follow a character called Atsu as she takes on the mantle of the ghost, following
06:53Injin Sakai's footsteps.
06:55We're extremely excited to get to go to Hokkaido in an open-world game like this, and though
06:59Tsushima is a tough act to follow, Yotai so far looks extremely promising.
07:04It has no release date, but we'd be surprised to see a delay out of 2025.
07:08The original game came out in summer, so perhaps Yotai will be another mid-year release.
07:19Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
07:22Pokemon Legends ZA
07:24The follow-up to Pokemon Legends, Arceus is dropping on Switch next year.
07:33Sid Meier's Civilization VII
07:35We'll be taking over the world all over again on February 11th.
07:45Judas
07:46John Levine's next Bioshock-like is slated to release by March at the latest.

08:16Grand Theft Auto 6
08:22Even though it will have been 12 years since the last GTA game, it's still hard to believe
08:26that GTA 6 might finally be landing on consoles in 2025, though we wouldn't be surprised
08:31to see it hit with a delay.
08:32The long development period is believed to be thanks to Rockstar taking the bold step
08:36to try and eliminate Crunch from its studios after the 2018 scandal ahead of Red Dead 2's
08:41launch.
08:42We're going back to Vice City and the state of Leonida, in what's sure to be a sprawling,
08:46highly detailed map.
08:47We'd be surprised to hear of a single gamer out there who isn't planning to play GTA
08:516 as soon as humanly possible.
08:56Let us know which games are already on your wishlist.
