00:09was recently asked about the 2024 presidential election,
00:13where Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris earlier this month.
00:16During his interview with the Sunday Times, Washington said,
00:19"...it's all politics, all promises unkept. And now with the information age the way it is,
00:24if anything, left, right, whatever had better learn how to use those tools to manipulate the
00:29people. There was a great line in the first movie I did, 1981's carbon copy, Power to the People.
00:34Yeah, they had it once. It was called the Stone Age."
00:37He continued, "...we're all slaves to information now. We really are. We're all slaves.
00:41So whatever you feel about the leaders, like this guy's crazy or the other one is sane,
00:45you'd better realize you're being manipulated by both sides, period."
00:48Before adding, "...yeah, so go to the movies."
00:51The star has previously been open about urging people to, quote,
00:54"...open our eyes and hold elected officials in office accountable."
00:58He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017,
01:00"...I think we, as Americans, need to unite and to hold all of our elected officials
01:04feet to the fire as it relates to working together,"
01:07during which Trump was serving his first term as president. He added,
01:10"...we need to demand that they work together through our vote,
01:13and that they work together to come up with solutions."
