00:16:45Hey coach, can you hear me okay?
00:16:48Yeah, I got you. Go ahead.
00:16:50Awesome. We're having a good day.
00:16:52We're going to go ahead and get started with questions.
00:16:54John Scott will have our first question.
00:16:56All right.
00:17:01Hey Sean, how are you?
00:17:03Doing well, John. How are you?
00:17:05Good, good, good.
00:17:07Last stuff before the bye week for you.
00:17:10How would you in more of a reflective way
00:17:13look at and look back at what your team's been able to accomplish?
00:17:17I know it's more than half, but this first portion of the season before the bye.
00:17:22Boy, that's a loaded question.
00:17:25Just with and if we could go on and on about different things, you know, there was a lot of
00:17:30I'm sure questions about our team coming into this season.
00:17:33A lot of turnover as has already been mentioned documented through the course of the early part of the season in particular.
00:17:38And I just think that, you know, we were able to do a good job.
00:17:43You know, adding some personnel and then
00:17:46coaches developing some of the some of the young players who were, you know, on board at early here and
00:17:52you know, we've kind of weathered the storm with some injuries getting through some of that
00:17:56kind of chapter of the book to this point as well.
00:17:58And so it's kind of been all hands on deck, you know, team working as a team and everyone doing their part, really.
00:18:06And how how do you or what do you attribute to the ability to at every position on this team seemingly go one, two, three deep on the depth chart.
00:18:18And for the most part, the level of play has maintained as it would with with some of the starters.
00:18:26Yeah, I would say it's never just one.
00:18:28It's never just one area like it's never just coaching.
00:18:30It's never just personnel.
00:18:31It's it's really everything.
00:18:33And including personnel, coaching the players themselves, you know, wanting to get better, wanting to learn, wanting to put more time.
00:18:41And it's leadership from the players in the locker room of leading by example of, hey, we've got an injury.
00:18:47No one panics.
00:18:49Hey, put the time in.
00:18:50You're going to put the time in.
00:18:51You know, there's some accountability, I would say, across the locker room that way.
00:18:55Which is important.
00:18:57Developing the players, these young guys and new guys, onboarding them the right way with our development staff downstairs, our training room, our weight room.
00:19:05I mean, again, it's never just one area, but it's it's definitely shared across across the organization.
00:19:11Appreciate it.
00:19:13Try to take some time off this week.
00:19:15Yeah, you too.
00:19:16Thanks.
00:19:20Hey, Sean.
00:19:21John Worrell.
00:19:22Hi, John.
00:19:23One thing I think we've got to ask how we saw that Josh Allen's hand was examined.
00:19:29Right hand was examined during the game.
00:19:31How did that hold up?
00:19:33Yeah, pretty good.
00:19:35I think we're going to give him a new one over the bi-week here.
00:19:37We'll be now.
00:19:39It's as far as I know, I have not heard any concern about it from NATO training to this point, John.
00:19:45So hopefully that's it remains that way.
00:19:49So that's all I know right now.
00:19:50I hear that.
00:19:52What's the team, you know, getting healthier and getting out of the bi-week?
00:19:58And it looks like you're going to have a lot of guys returning.
00:20:01What does that do?
00:20:03How does that shape things up for the stretch run in knowing you're getting some valuable bodies back?
00:20:11Well, also knowing you've had some youngsters gain some valuable playing experience.
00:20:15Yeah, I'll start with the experience part.
00:20:17That's been huge, right?
00:20:18You're getting a lot of guys, first-year, second-year players, a lot of valuable reps.
00:20:23And they're pushing through.
00:20:25And let's not forget some of these rookies haven't played this long without a break, right?
00:20:31So the length of this, the run up to the bio has been long.
00:20:36But I'm sure these guys are looking forward to getting some rest and kind of unplugging a little bit.
00:20:40But that experience that those players have gotten has been huge for us.
00:20:45We'll see in terms of who's healthy coming back off the bi.
00:20:49You know, this week, the players that have been rehabbing are going to stay here and rehab
00:20:56and try and get themselves back to where they're an option for us next week.
00:21:01We'll see where that goes.
00:21:03Don't really have any definitives at this point from Nate.
00:21:06But if and when they do come back, I think the important thing is that we continue to find our rhythm, right?
00:21:14Because sometimes when you add a new piece back that hasn't played in some time, it can kind of get you out of rhythm a little bit.
00:21:22I think I mentioned that right after the trade earlier in the year here.
00:21:26So to this point, our team has done a phenomenal job of kind of working through that.
00:21:31Lastly, and it addresses, I know how much you called it not a statement.
00:21:38And there's a long way to go still in the season.
00:21:40But how do you react when you hear or we hear, you know, Amari Cooper talk about the joy that that win brought out from him?
00:21:51Saying it's something he's not experienced in a long time.
00:21:54Just to be in a game like that and to come out with a win.
00:21:58Well, Amari has been a great addition to our team.
00:22:02You know, he's kind of a quieter guy.
00:22:05So it's great to hear him just express his gratitude, his emotions, right?
00:22:12Of being able to be a part of a win like that.
00:22:15And yeah, it's a win and it's an important win, right?
00:22:20It's in the AFC and against a really good football team.
00:22:23So it's I think that really speaks more to me about our culture and the environment that we have here in Buffalo than anything.
00:22:32Good.
00:22:33Enjoy the week.
00:22:35You too, John.
00:22:38Hey, Sean.
00:22:40In that first half decision to challenge the catch there.
00:22:45Can you take me through the process a little bit?
00:22:48Because honestly, when I first saw it on the replay, it looked like it was super close.
00:22:53Then of course you get some of the clear replays and I know you don't have the benefit of time always.
00:22:57But when that happens in a game and you don't get a challenge like that.
00:23:00How do you go back with everybody on your staff and evaluate the process for getting that right next time?
00:23:07Yeah, we've already discussed that.
00:23:09You guys know we've got John Perry, a great, great former referee on our staff.
00:23:12He's been a big help.
00:23:14And, you know, we looked at it as quickly as we could and we weren't getting a lot of great angles on it, I would say.
00:23:21They were not showing it on television.
00:23:24All we had was what was going on on our video board in the stadium there.
00:23:27So it was a backed up situation.
00:23:30And I think it was a second and long that led to a third and short.
00:23:34So and in the first half, didn't think it was, you know, a big if we didn't get it right.
00:23:41Didn't think it was going to have a big impact on the game.
00:23:43So based on the data we had at the time, we challenged it.
00:23:47I challenged it and obviously it didn't work out.
00:23:50But, you know, so we connected on that this morning.
00:23:53And, hey, would we have done it again based on the information we had?
00:23:57And so, you know, it's all always just continue to grow and continue to learn.
00:24:01And again, that's a timing issue there a little bit based on the views that we had.
00:24:07Appreciate it.
00:24:08And then I know you probably want to temper any expectations for Matt Milano as he kind of ramps back up.
00:24:14But if you're looking at the big picture here from your seat, what are the possibilities of adding him in late in the season,
00:24:23knowing that he hasn't really played in the game in over a year?
00:24:27No, that's that's, you know, something that we've discussed.
00:24:32We would want to do it if and when we're given the green light or he's given the green light, go about it the right way.
00:24:39So that's kind of a little bit what I was alluding to, adding a player back in.
00:24:45So this is awesome, man.
00:24:47I feel like I'm right right at home with you here.
00:24:50Great.
00:24:51Are those holiday decorations, by the way?
00:24:54Already up.
00:24:55I love it.
00:24:56That's great.
00:24:57My wife, my wife took the weekend all Sunday while I was down at the stadium and she got the house decked out pretty good.
00:25:04I see that.
00:25:05I love the backdrop.
00:25:07Now, so Matt, we'll just I'll just be quick.
00:25:09We just we just have to be smart with Matt and then making sure that, as I mentioned before, we stay in rhythm here.
00:25:16Thanks, Sean.
00:25:17Appreciate it.
00:25:18Enjoy your ride.
00:25:19You too.
00:25:27Matt, we can't hear you.
00:25:31No, Matt.
00:25:33Well, we'll go to Nick with the next question.
00:25:36Matt, let's get that.
00:25:37And Matt, you need to put up holiday decor.
00:25:39Everyone has to, you know, out, you know, I'll do Matt.
00:25:42We just had holiday decorations.
00:25:44We need you have to in order to get a chance to speak.
00:25:47You got to outdo Matt and his holiday decorations.
00:25:50New rule on Zoom.
00:25:52Well, I'll have to take that up with the with the company there.
00:25:57Go ahead, Nick.
00:26:00So going into the bye week, you guys have I think you're seven to know since you become the head coach coming out of the bye.
00:26:08Obviously, all those situations are different.
00:26:10But what is something that you and your staff do you think have been able to do to make you guys so successful after that week?
00:26:17Oh, boy.
00:26:18You know, if if it was if we knew exactly what it's been, Nick, I would say, hey, we'll just make sure we do that and and then go on from there.
00:26:27So I think it's a combination of things.
00:26:29I think a little bit of it is rest.
00:26:31I think a little bit of it is, you know, having a chance to do some self scouting and evaluation of what we do and how we do things and fundamentals as well.
00:26:41I think the other part is, you know, making sure, you know, we put it put together a good game plan for when the players return as well.
00:26:49So it's probably not just one thing, but a multitude of things, really.
00:26:54You've you've had a late by the last couple of years, and it seems like it came at the right time last year and again this year with the amount of injuries you guys have.
00:27:03Is there a preference for you as a coach on on when you get the bye?
00:27:06Preferably after a win.
00:27:08So I don't have to sit here and think about a loss for for a better part of two weeks.
00:27:13That's always one of my prayers.
00:27:15But no, it's it seems every year to come just at the right time.
00:27:19You know, you're always pushing and kind of earlier in the year.
00:27:22You're like, man, it sure would be nice to have a bye.
00:27:24We're kind of, you know, banged up, whatever it is, or we're not, you know, whatever it is, you're just kind of trying to get into your rhythm.
00:27:30And I think at this point, you know, it's been a long run up for us here.
00:27:34And we've had a lot of kind of different primetime games and different game times and whatnot.
00:27:39So, you know, it always seems to come at the right time if you're able to push through.
00:27:45What are your expectations of players on a bye week?
00:27:48Obviously, it's a week to rest and reset.
00:27:50But at the same point, you've got you've got some important business.
00:27:55You know, in a week.
00:27:56No, we do.
00:27:57Great.
00:27:58Great question.
00:27:59You know, what we talked about is making sure their habits match our goals right as a team.
00:28:04And certainly their goals as an individual to be the best version of themselves when they come back.
00:28:10You know, we're getting into the back third of the season, if you will.
00:28:13And as you mentioned, it's important time for us here.
00:28:17And then just from yesterday.
00:28:18You guys did a really good job of keeping Mahomes in the pocket.
00:28:22You know, how much was that the rush discipline?
00:28:25How much was that your coverage downfield that you were able to kind of, you know, keep him and make him think a little bit?
00:28:32Probably a little bit of both.
00:28:34You know, I thought the defensive line did a really good job.
00:28:38Early in the game.
00:28:40You know, we were able to kind of keep him in the pocket.
00:28:42You know, I thought the defensive line did a really good job early in the game.
00:28:48And then we had some third and longs doing the same thing.
00:28:53And then later in the game, as you saw, you know, he was trying to get out of the pocket.
00:28:56We had we had to spy on him a little bit there, too, sometimes.
00:28:59And, you know, that works, I thought, well, at times and maybe not so well at other times.
00:29:05So just something that we'll have to continue to evaluate, evaluate as we move forward here.
00:29:10Thanks.
00:29:11Sure.
00:29:13Good afternoon, Coach McDermott, George Radney, Challenger Community News.
00:29:19How are you doing this afternoon?
00:29:20Good, George.
00:29:21Always good to see you.
00:29:22Same here, especially after another win.
00:29:25Yes, indeed.
00:29:26And I was just wondering during the offseason, which for yourself as a head coach saying, how can you improve your coaching abilities as well as your overall team?
00:29:34I see one was with the referee, bringing in a referee on staff to help out with the with the with those challenges and things of that nature.
00:29:40And also, it seems like you're a lot more aggressive this year than I've ever seen you before with the team.
00:29:46Seems like you guys don't hesitate to go for it on fourth and short or whatever it seems to be at the if the timing's right.
00:29:53Is was that some of the part of some of the goals that you set for yourself this year?
00:29:58No, not necessarily.
00:30:00I think I don't know the data exactly and what the analytics would say on my history or my my resume as an aggressive head coach.
00:30:06But I think I've been towards the top, really.
00:30:10So I think just sometimes when we get the results that everyone looks for, everyone wants to, you know, kind of hover over that.
00:30:17But I think if you look at my track record, I think we've been pretty, pretty aggressive.
00:30:22Every situation is a little bit different.
00:30:24But that's kind of my my nature is to be aggressive.
00:30:27Yeah, it seems like you're not calling timeouts to think about it and think you guys are just going right into it.
00:30:32Whatever the play is called, boom, you're going up to the line and seems like everybody's all in and, you know, you just run the play.
00:30:40You know, you run that play and, you know, either you make it or you don't.
00:30:44It doesn't seem any type of hesitation this season.
00:30:48Well, I don't think we've hesitated too much in the past.
00:30:51There are some decisions if you have a timeout to burn that you'll use it just to make sure you got the right play, make sure everyone's organized and ready to execute.
00:30:58So every situation is a little bit different.
00:31:00All right.
00:31:01Last question for you.
00:31:02How would you rate the two guys came in Vandermark that replaced Spencer Brown and also the replacement for Deion Dawkins toward the end of the game as well?
00:31:10Yeah, Richard Garage there.
00:31:12So both those guys, what more could you could you ask for?
00:31:16They came in ready to play, prepared all week, you know, and Richard goes in in the fourth quarter.
00:31:21And, you know, so he's worked hard for the year and a half he's been with us roughly.
00:31:26And I don't know that there's guys that work as hard.
00:31:31I mean, we have a ton of guys that work hard.
00:31:33Don't get me wrong with those.
00:31:34Those two are towards the top for sure.
00:31:37Yes, I've seen those guys around for the past two years.
00:31:39Yeah, yeah.
00:31:40Even after practice, I see them out there working on their footwork and things, especially last season.
00:31:44They were working at St. John Fisher a lot on their footwork.
00:31:47That's right.
00:31:48That's right, George.
00:31:49Yeah.
00:31:50Footwork and all the technique that goes with playing online.
00:31:53All right.
00:31:54Thank you, coach.
00:31:55We'll catch you next week.
00:31:56All right.
00:31:57Sounds good, George.
00:31:59Hey, Sean, how are you doing?
00:32:00You got me OK?
00:32:01I got you, Thad.
00:32:02Go ahead.
00:32:03Yeah.
00:32:04With respect to the way you answer the question to John about how there's a whole bunch of different
00:32:07factors that go into a successful start, how much of it this year is guys internally improving?
00:32:11Because it seems like there's a number of players, both sides of the ball and not even first or
00:32:15second year players that have taken notable steps forward that have been a part of this 9-2 start.
00:32:19Yeah, it's been huge that it really has.
00:32:21And I mean, you could probably go across the roster, right?
00:32:25And point out a multitude of players who have improved their game last year, this year, within the course
00:32:33of this season as well.
00:32:35So just been extremely impressed by that.
00:32:37Risking, forcing you to toot your own horn here.
00:32:40How much of that success is because of the long-term culture that you've built up and the ability to have
00:32:47a similar message year after year?
00:32:49Does it make it easier then to find that extra one, two, five percent to make these guys a little bit
00:32:53better year to year?
00:32:53I think what goes with the continuity that you mentioned is really everyone knowing what's expected
00:32:59and that consistency around our building from the coaches, myself, to the personnel department
00:33:06and Brandon and training room, weight room, development staff, just all of us being on the same page
00:33:12with, hey, this is what's expected.
00:33:14This is what we believe in and how it needs to go.
00:33:18Doesn't mean we don't change and we're not flexible.
00:33:21It just means that I think we're all in sync with kind of that one single approach to doing things.
00:33:30And real quick, one of the players I want to point out specifically, Osiris Torrance, had a number of reps
00:33:35against Chris Jones yesterday.
00:33:37Seemed like he performed real well.
00:33:38How impressed were you with the way he held up in a pretty tough environment and a tough assignment?
00:33:43No, you're right.
00:33:44That was huge.
00:33:45Chris Jones is, I don't know, probably the Josh Allen of defensive alignment out there.
00:33:50I mean, he seems to, whenever he wants to make one of those superhuman plays, he makes them.
00:33:55And he tried to make a couple last night, made his fair share of plays, don't get me wrong.
00:33:59Our guys battled and each and every one of them, I mean, up front, he was lining up against people
00:34:05all the way up and down the offensive line.
00:34:07I thought those guys battled and did a good job.
00:34:09Appreciate it, John.
00:34:11Enjoy the bye and we'll have the office decorated for next week for you.
00:34:13Yeah, please.
00:34:14I was going to mention that.
00:34:15Let's get that worked out over the bye, please.
00:34:17AJ's working on it right now.
00:34:18We'll be all set for next week.
00:34:20We'll see you then.
00:34:23Hey there, Sean.
00:34:25Thanks for taking some time here.
00:34:27I have a nutcracker.
00:34:29I don't know if that counts.
00:34:31I'm not sure.
00:34:32We have a football for decoration, but that's all we've got here.
00:34:37I know Matt Milano was already asked about a little bit here.
00:34:41What about Dwayne Carter?
00:34:43I saw him out on the field pregame a little bit.
00:34:46Obviously, he wasn't dressed to play at all.
00:34:47How's his rehab coming along?
00:34:49Is he somebody that you're hoping in the not-too-distant future
00:34:52that you can have back in the lineup?
00:34:54He is, Josh.
00:34:56Again, there's this pool of players that they're kind of tiered
00:35:02as to when we expect to get each one of them back.
00:35:06Again, this week, being it kind of a rehab week for the players
00:35:11that are banged up, the message I'm getting from our training room
00:35:16is, hey, we'll let you know kind of how this week goes
00:35:20and then what that looks like for next week.
00:35:22So, you know, the challenge is not really knowing
00:35:25as we start to game plan a little bit towards the end of this week
00:35:28who's available, but certainly understand
00:35:31that the trainers need some more time with these guys.
00:35:33And, you know, again, it's kind of like,
00:35:35hey, who are they going to hand us on Monday?
00:35:38Are we going to get one player, two players, more, less,
00:35:41what have you?
00:35:42So we just got to kind of take it one day at a time here.
00:35:46Big picture coming out of the game, any serious injuries?
00:35:51I know Taylor Rapp is dealing with a foot there.
00:35:53He said he was fine.
00:35:54He obviously came back in the game.
00:35:56Any significant injuries there that you're concerned with
00:35:59going into the bye?
00:36:00Right. Nate updated us kind of midday
00:36:03and no new additions, I would say,
00:36:05to the injury list at this point.
00:36:07Okay, last one for me.
00:36:08I don't know if you saw the video.
00:36:10Coach Cower was out with the Bills Mafia pregame
00:36:15and decided it was a good idea to jump through a table.
00:36:19Any thoughts about Coach Cower jumping through tables
00:36:24at Highmark Stadium?
00:36:25I love it.
00:36:26I love it.
00:36:27I had a chance to catch up with Coach
00:36:29the night before the game.
00:36:30And, you know, I think the world of him.
00:36:32What a great coach, what a great man.
00:36:35I think we think similarly in a lot of areas, quite honestly.
00:36:39And for a coach to go out there and do that,
00:36:42I mean, that's kind of his element, right?
00:36:43This is what makes Buffalo so special.
00:36:46People come here and they fall in love with this place, right?
00:36:49And Coach Cower, all those guys that were on the show yesterday,
00:36:53I think they get a great taste of who we are
00:36:56and what we're all about here in Buffalo.
00:36:58Great stuff, Sean.
00:36:59I appreciate your time.
00:37:00Enjoy the bye week.
00:37:01I hope you get some time to relax at least a little bit.
00:37:04Thanks.
00:37:05You too, Josh.
00:37:09Coach, Mookie Harkins, Buffalo Sports 1080.
00:37:11I'm in the darkness.
00:37:11I can't give you my background.
00:37:13It's all good.
00:37:14It's all good, buddy.
00:37:15How you doing?
00:37:16Made me shut it down.
00:37:17I'm doing pretty good, Coach.
00:37:18It is Victory Monday, but I want to talk about the luxury
00:37:22and the development of Dorian Wilkins.
00:37:24How does that play into how you monitor Matt Milano's return?
00:37:28Yeah.
00:37:29So Dorian's a young player that, you know, he he's learning, right?
00:37:33Through the course of, you know, Matt's injuries here
00:37:37last year in this season, and he works extremely hard.
00:37:39He was wearing a couple of different hats for us,
00:37:42playing a couple of different positions last night in the game.
00:37:45And, you know, he continues to grow.
00:37:47And he's just he's a good football player that as more
00:37:52as he gets more and more experience, he'll continue to develop.
00:37:55Absolutely, Coach.
00:37:56And I know you love watching film, you know, this morning
00:38:00and seeing both sides of the ball in those trenches, you know,
00:38:03go out there and perform.
00:38:04Can you talk about how your guys battled in the trenches
00:38:06on both sides?
00:38:06Yeah, I thought, you know, that's where really the game is won
00:38:10and won or lost.
00:38:11You know that.
00:38:12And, you know, there was they won some.
00:38:14I thought we won some.
00:38:15So it was it was a good matchup inside on both both sides
00:38:19of the ball.
00:38:20You know, at the end of the day, I thought we rushed the passer
00:38:24well and we had them in some of those drop back,
00:38:26one dimensional situations.
00:38:28And I thought our offense, our offensive line in particular,
00:38:31did a really good job with all the different blitz games
00:38:34and blitz looks they give.
00:38:36Absolutely.
00:38:37Coach him and you are basically flawless coming off
00:38:40to a bye week.
00:38:41But, you know, it's a bye week, man.
00:38:43You know, so we got any particular plans to enjoy this
00:38:46this bye week this year?
00:38:48Just try and get some rest, spend a little time
00:38:50with the family.
00:38:53And I think that's about it.
00:38:55You know, just kick back, unplug a little bit.
00:38:57Absolutely.
00:38:58Coach, you definitely deserve it.
00:39:00Enjoy your bye week.
00:39:01Talk to you soon.
00:39:02Sounds good.
00:39:03Move back to you too.
00:39:04That's all we have for you today, Coach.

00:46:09Hi.
00:46:10All right.
00:46:11I'm just going to go over the chat.
00:46:14Hello?
00:46:15Hey.
00:46:16Oh, can you hear me?
00:46:17Okay.
00:46:18Awesome.
00:46:19We're going to go ahead and get started, questions.
00:46:21Mookie Hawkins, when I first questioned.
00:46:23It was Brady, Mookie Hawkins.
00:46:25Great win yesterday.
00:46:27Thank you, appreciate you.
00:46:29Hey, just tell me when did you get a good feel for
00:46:32what Kansas City was trying to do to you guys defensively?
00:46:34I don't know if you ever really do when you play them.
00:46:39I don't mean that, it's a credit to, they do a great job schematically.
00:46:44And Spags is always, they do a great job with checks and
00:46:50alerts with basically everything that you do.
00:46:53But it kind of gets to a point when you play them, you got to kind of really just
00:46:56focus on yourself and understand what your guys do well.
00:46:58And try to not overcomplicate it for them.
00:47:01And I was just assuming you got a guy like 17,
00:47:05just make sure you got the ball in his hands.
00:47:07And obviously, as you saw at the end of the game, good things happen.
00:47:12Absolutely, man, seemed like they were a little bit confused and
00:47:16off the rocket with those motions and those stack formations.
00:47:19That proved to be some man beaters.
00:47:21But key moment of the game, man, 39, four and a half to go.
00:47:25You needed to keep ahead of the sticks, just run us through that play there.
00:47:29You could.
00:47:30Yeah, is this, you're talking the Clio catch?
00:47:33Yes, sir.
00:47:34Yeah, I mean, you're thinking in that situation, right?
00:47:38They're probably gonna heat you up.
00:47:40And so we happen to have in the thought process of, hey,
00:47:44the ball doesn't have to go past the sticks and get the ball to your playmakers.
00:47:50And Josh was doing a great job in their all game of staying in the pocket.
00:47:54Ty doing a good job at the old line and protecting it.
00:47:56And I know initially Josh was thinking to his left, potentially working out.
00:48:00Maybe if he gets on Clio, maybe a little faster, Clio doesn't take the hit.
00:48:03But just speaks volumes to kind of who Clio is in those moments.
00:48:08But man, he finds a way to get it done.
00:48:11And it was a huge play in the game.
00:48:13We're up by two points right there and we don't convert that.
00:48:15We have to punt the ball back to them.
00:48:17And so once you get into that situation in those games,
00:48:20you're thinking players, not plays.
00:48:22And just a product of those two guys trusting them and
00:48:28they find ways to get it done.
00:48:29Speaking of players, how refreshing was it to see Curtis Samuel out there,
00:48:33making plays for his team and getting his first touchdown as a bill?
00:48:36Yeah, no, I loved it.
00:48:37I'm not too sure what the dance was.
00:48:39I got a lot to learn.
00:48:41But yeah, I mean, it's obviously up to this point.
00:48:46Not exactly what Curtis was expecting, but he's been battling a lot of injuries.
00:48:51And it was nice to see him the last two weeks kind of healthy out there,
00:48:54kind of moving around and getting a taste of kind of who he is.
00:48:57And I feel like you can see the confidence,
00:49:02the speed of the rack ability with him.
00:49:06And made a lot of plays out there yesterday.
00:49:09And something to continue to build on and
00:49:12get to our offense where we're gonna want to eventually be, we're gonna need him.
00:49:16Absolutely, coach.
00:49:17Great win yesterday.
00:49:18Enjoy your bye week.
00:49:19Thank you, appreciate you.
00:49:20Hey, Joe, how are you?
00:49:25Good, how you doing, bud?
00:49:27Good.
00:49:28You look at last year at this time going into the bye,
00:49:31you had kind of just taken over as the play caller.
00:49:34And now, more than a year into it here, what changes for you during the bye week?
00:49:40I mean, I'm sure you might approach it the same way, but
00:49:44are you accomplishing anything different this year?
00:49:47Yeah, no, I think one thing you guys will learn about me is I kind of try to be as
00:49:51consistent as possible.
00:49:52And I've approached, or you approached it the bye week the same way.
00:49:56And it's an opportunity to take a step back and
00:49:59kind of look back at what you've done, things that, tendencies,
00:50:05things that maybe you've gotten away from that, or
00:50:10good schemes or stuff that you got to get back to, or things that in your head you
00:50:13might think you try to do a good job throughout the weeks of really kind of
00:50:16staying on top of that and we got to do a great job on staff doing that.
00:50:19But really, you have an opportunity during an open week to take a deep breath and
00:50:23really kind of look at it and kind of put together a plan of like, hey,
00:50:27where do we want to go from here?
00:50:29And, but regardless of the win yesterday or not,
00:50:33it was going to be the same approach this week.
00:50:34And we have to find ways to continue to get better,
00:50:36and I hope we take advantage of that this week.
00:50:40I'd imagine you're probably not doing a ton of installation at this point in the year.
00:50:45But with all the different injuries, what's been the biggest challenge of kind of
00:50:50mixing and matching what you've had to work with over the last few weeks or so?
00:50:54Yeah, it's part of what comes with coaching, and it's exciting.
00:51:01I speak all the time about the character in that room and
00:51:04just the guys that just continually stand up and they're like, hey,
00:51:09it's my opportunity, I'm going to make the most of it.
00:51:11And I have full confidence that if guys are up, and our quarterback clearly does too,
00:51:14because you see him not shying away from not bypassing progressions.
00:51:17But if guys are up there rolling with it, and the reality of it in this profession,
00:51:21especially as the season goes, you don't really know who's going to be up.
00:51:24And sometimes come Saturday,
00:51:26you're still trying to figure out who's going to be up on game day.
00:51:28And guys just, whether you're on a practice squad or you're inactive,
00:51:32just staying ready, and then when their opportunity comes, making the most of it.
00:51:35And so it'll be exciting.
00:51:38Hopefully, we get some guys back, but to kind of have everybody to kind of work with.
00:51:43But I'm confident with whoever we have available is going to be able to get
00:51:47the job done, and they've shown to be able to step up.
00:51:51For a guy like Amari, how beneficial do you think this bye week can be for him?
00:51:56Not just health wise, but I'm sure it's kind of been a whirlwind for him
00:52:00the last few weeks, and maybe he gets a week to, I know he's a football guy,
00:52:06but kind of focus on football after this week.
00:52:09Yeah, no, I hope he gets away, to be honest with you.
00:52:12I mean, it's a lot, right?
00:52:13And this game of football, right, it's physically taxing, but
00:52:18it's also mentally and emotionally.
00:52:19And I think sometimes you need to unplug a little bit, and they're still humans, right?
00:52:23And I think he's done an incredible job since he's been here, his work ethic,
00:52:28his approach, even when he was injured, man, preparing like he was gonna be ready
00:52:31to go, and it was just fun to watch him make big plays yesterday.
00:52:38That's why he's here.
00:52:39And he looks like he's having a lot of fun playing football here and
00:52:43doing a great job with the guys.
00:52:44And so I want him to get away and unplug a little bit this week.
00:52:48Naturally, he'll always stay locked in and
00:52:50making sure he's continuously kind of learning the system.
00:52:52But I love where he's at and excited to continue to progress with him.
00:52:57Is his snap count, is that a matter of maybe having two weeks off,
00:53:05or maybe still learning the playbook a little bit?
00:53:09Yeah, I think it's a combination of things.
00:53:11When you're learning, there's only so much you want to put on a plate slash
00:53:19coming off of a couple weeks, being injured and
00:53:22seeing how that was going to hold up and everything.
00:53:24And he didn't blink, when you can one hand a ball with a cast on kind of speaks
00:53:29to the kind of football player you are, and excited for
00:53:34him to continue to just progress with it.
00:53:35Thanks, enjoy your week.
00:53:41Yes, good afternoon, Coach George Redney, Challenger Community News.
00:53:44How are you doing this afternoon?
00:53:45How are you doing, George?
00:53:47Good, good.
00:53:48My first question for you is, Zach Davidson, how is it that you're able to
00:53:53bring guys in that haven't played that come up from the practice squad?
00:53:57The guy makes his first catch during the game.
00:54:00Are you able to see what they do in practice and say, hey,
00:54:04do you think these certain plays could work for that individual player per se?
00:54:10Yeah, I think, look, these guys have been with us since OTAs and
00:54:15training camp and they've earned the opportunities.
00:54:18No, we're not playing guys just because we're down injuries and we have to.
00:54:21I had full confidence that whatever Zach Davidson was gonna be able to do,
00:54:24he's gonna go in there and he's gonna know his job.
00:54:27And when the opportunity came to make a play, he made the play.
00:54:30That's kind of what he's done.
00:54:31And he showed that even on the practice squad,
00:54:33going against our defense every single day.
00:54:34And the type of person he is, and you can see that Josh has the trust in him,
00:54:37that he didn't blink and pressed through it and found them.
00:54:40And that's kind of the guys that we have.
00:54:41And I'm excited to see them.
00:54:45It's tough when you don't make the team after, you're hoping to make a football
00:54:49team and you have to go on a practice squad and
00:54:51you sit down with these guys on cut down day.
00:54:52But you let them know like, hey, we're gonna need you at some point this year.
00:54:55And you gotta make sure you're ready when your time comes.
00:54:57And a guy like him and multiple guys on our football team that are just
00:55:01understanding that it's frustrating not playing.
00:55:03But I'm gonna stay ready because when my time comes,
00:55:05I don't have to get ready.
00:55:06He's a product of that.
00:55:08And so that's more of a mental, a lot of mental thing where the guys have to
00:55:11mentally stay focused and say, hey, whenever that opportunity comes,
00:55:16they have to be ready as you were just saying.
00:55:19Yeah, I mean, we've had multiple instances this year where guys
00:55:24are having to prepare like they're playing the football game.
00:55:26They don't actually know if they're gonna be up until the day of the game or
00:55:28the day before the game.
00:55:30But it's part of that what comes with this business.
00:55:32And there's a reason we have the type of players that we have,
00:55:35not necessarily from a physical attributes.
00:55:37But just how they can prepare and how they are being able to handle
00:55:42everything that comes with their roles.
00:55:43And I'm proud of the guys, their approach.
00:55:46And that guy like Zach and Richard Garage and Shade, guys that have continuously
00:55:50stepped up on their opportunities kind of the best of it.
00:55:53And there's a reason they're here.
00:55:56Yeah, so Garage and Vandermark, how would you rate their play coming?
00:56:01Especially Garage coming in in the fourth quarter and
00:56:03having to play almost cold almost, so to speak.
00:56:08How would you, that's gotta be tough.
00:56:11Yeah, it's definitely not easy.
00:56:13No, I mean, Vandy, that's why I love Vandy.
00:56:16And unfortunately, obviously what happened to Spencer, but
00:56:18just getting Vandy in there last week, being backed up.
00:56:21And him picking up the twist and doing a great job on the screen.
00:56:24And just, he's a confident football player, but it's one thing to be confident,
00:56:29but also to go in there and then feel like you're making good plays.
00:56:32And so I felt like that that was something that was big for him last week,
00:56:36and he didn't blink.
00:56:37And I had full confidence in him, and he knew it, and I thought he played that way.
00:56:42And Coach Cromer, Coach Gundy doing an incredible job just getting him ready to
00:56:46go, and I thought he did a great job last night.
00:56:50And Garage, again, just like you're saying,
00:56:53it's a guy that doesn't know if he's gonna be up, but he's preparing and
00:56:56going against Greg and Vaughn in that every single day and getting better.
00:56:59And finds out that he's gonna be up on game day, and who knows,
00:57:02he's one snap away.
00:57:03But he didn't sit there and just, hey, you know what,
00:57:05I'm not gonna be up this week, I'm on the practice squad.
00:57:07He prepared, and look what happened, a critical in the game, and
00:57:11he's having to play.
00:57:12And like I said, there's a reason he's here.
00:57:16Absolutely, especially after standing around for that long and
00:57:18then being able to go in, I was impressed with his play as well.
00:57:21Thank you, Coach, and have a great week, and we'll talk with you next week.
00:57:24I appreciate you, Greg.
00:57:27Hey, Coach, or hey, Joe, Ian Mills for Channel 10 in Rochester.
00:57:31What did you see on the fourth down play in the first half that led to
00:57:35the interception?
00:57:36Looked like, at least on our end, maybe a bit of miscommunication.
00:57:39What did you see on your end?
00:57:41Yeah, I think a combination of things.
00:57:45It's a play that if I can go back in the same situation, I'd call it again.
00:57:49So I'm not gonna just go off the quality of the decision based off the result.
00:57:54But I'd love for, just talking with Josh, the potential of maybe hanging in there
00:57:59a little bit and seeing maybe Curtis kind of popping on the cross, or
00:58:02just cleaning up some of the things.
00:58:03So there's some of the details in the execution that we can do a better job of.
00:58:06I can call a better play in that situation as we kind of talk about it,
00:58:10but now knowing the result.
00:58:13But I think if we get back in that,
00:58:15it's a play that Josh has a lot of confidence in, and
00:58:18he'd like that one back for sure.
00:58:22Obviously, Dawson Knox has been targeted a little bit more recently.
00:58:25Obviously, part of that's because of the Dalton Kincaid injury.
00:58:28But how satisfying has it been to get him back into the fold of things and
00:58:32have a couple of big games back to back here?
00:58:35Yeah, it's huge.
00:58:37Dawson Knox is a Pro Bowl player.
00:58:38And unfortunately, when you got a lot of people,
00:58:43it's hard to get the ball spread around to everybody.
00:58:45And he's the most unselfish player on our football team.
00:58:49And when his opportunities comes, he's making the most of it.
00:58:52And he's doing an incredible job in the run game.
00:58:54And he brings so much value to us.
00:58:57And unfortunately, obviously, what happened with Dalton, but
00:59:00just seeing him go in there and not blink and
00:59:03know that he's better than he was a few years ago when he was a Pro Bowl football
00:59:08player, and Josh has all the trust in the world in him.
00:59:11And it showed that last week in Indian, the opportunities on third down and
00:59:15the flood concept into the boundary and where he ran over three cameraman.
00:59:19I hope it wasn't your guys.
00:59:21But it's always good to see Dawson rolling.
00:59:24Yeah, lastly for me, you tweet 1-0 after every single win,
00:59:29presumably, right, treating each win the same.
00:59:31But is there any extra satisfaction beating a team that was previously
00:59:36undefeated and going into the bye week now?
00:59:39No, I mean, I always love a win going into bye week no matter what.
00:59:42That's always refreshing no matter it's, yeah, you never enjoy losses.
00:59:47But sometimes when you lost, at least when you get to prepare for next team,
00:59:50it's a little easier.
00:59:51But no, we try to preach the consistency and that they all count the same.
00:59:57And that's our focus is trying to score one more point than the opposing team.
01:00:00And if we can go 1-0 each week, good things are gonna happen.
01:00:03And yeah, it was an incredible environment last night.
01:00:07I enjoy it, I don't get to play football, but when I get to call games in those
01:00:10environments and see those things, man, it's a lot of fun.
01:00:13It gets you juiced up, I'm human too, I have emotions.
01:00:16But at the end of the day, when they all count the same and
01:00:19all we're trying to do is just go 1-0.
01:00:22All right, thanks so much.
01:00:23I appreciate you.
01:00:26Hey, Joe, I know Josh was pretty casual after the game in that game winning
01:00:31touchdown run.
01:00:32But his teammates were constantly in awe of that play in that moment.
01:00:38What was it like for you from your vantage point to see Josh do that?
01:00:45Yeah, I mean, it's what's going on?
01:00:49He is, yeah, I mean, it's one of those things when you're a coach,
01:00:55sometimes you're so thinking about, hey, the potential of the next play.
01:00:59And what can happen and you don't fully take in greatness or
01:01:04elite play, and it's a tough thing.
01:01:07But I mean, our box was going crazy.
01:01:10It was an incredible run, incredible play in the magnitude of the game.
01:01:15And just seeing a guy like him, Josh, just kind of put the team on his back.
01:01:20And this is something that we all know he can do at any given moment and
01:01:23to do it when he did.
01:01:24And just to be able to bounce off a linebacker and go with it and
01:01:27you can see the love that his teammates have for him, and
01:01:30them all kind of jumping on him and celebrating with him.
01:01:33And the electricity in the stands, and it was a lot of fun.
01:01:38And it's a moment that I'll obviously remember as much as I was naturally
01:01:41trying to think about, hey, what can be the next call after this fourth and two?
01:01:45So, but he's a stud, ball in his hand things, good things happen.
01:01:50And going off that, Josh said it was a play that was called for man.
01:01:55And when the ball is snapped, are you sitting in the box going, no,
01:01:59it's not man, what's gonna happen?
01:02:02At that point, obviously, I know the game's in your hands, but
01:02:04is there that moment of like, uh-oh?
01:02:08Yeah, absolutely.
01:02:11We had a man alert to his own check on it.
01:02:14And similar to what we had against Arizona, similar thing.
01:02:19And they ended up going zone coverage.
01:02:21But depending on the type of zone that we kind of see, Josh sometimes feels that,
01:02:26hey, the crossing patterns and the rubs are naturally gonna do exactly what they
01:02:30did and kind of get everybody's eyes going a different direction.
01:02:32And he'll feel a spot to kind of run a little different if it was like,
01:02:36hey, a third and five type of situation.
01:02:37And look, at the end of the day, I'm gonna trust him all day every day.
01:02:40And whether he got to the zone answer, boom, or ended up being zoned.
01:02:47And you can see how fast he realized, okay, it's not zoned, I'm gonna roll.
01:02:51You can obviously see good things happen.
01:02:54I appreciate it.
01:02:54Enjoy the bye.
01:02:55All right, thank you.
01:02:58Hey, Joe, quickly, just one quick Josh question.
01:03:02After that performance yesterday and seeing some of the reaction nationally,
01:03:06I know you guys don't pay attention to that stuff.
01:03:08But I remember a really animated Brandon being at training camp when he was asked
01:03:12about that player survey about the most overrated player.
01:03:18And I guess it was Josh Allen.
01:03:19And there was a visceral reaction there to see how he's responded to that.
01:03:24Not that he needed to respond to it.
01:03:26But can you kind of characterize or
01:03:30talk a little bit about the season that he's had and the development that he's had?
01:03:37I mean, I think you see a guy that's having a lot of fun playing football with
01:03:40his brothers and playing within the system and not caring about statistics,
01:03:45not caring about anything besides finding ways to win football games.
01:03:48And you see the hit that he took, throwing it up the coop on the double move.
01:03:53And you can just see a guy that everything is important to him and
01:03:56all he wants to do is win and his teammates absolutely love him.
01:04:00And so I think to me, that's what everything, he doesn't care about
01:04:04the accolades, he doesn't care about the hype, he just wants to win football games.
01:04:09And I believe our organization, our team feeds off of him.
01:04:13And when he's doing those type of things, you can see how much the guys love him.
01:04:17You see when he scores touchdowns, how they celebrate with him.
01:04:19You can see when he's on the ground, how fast everybody is to help him up.
01:04:23And not just doing that because it's a quarterback that doesn't happen all
01:04:25the way across the NFL.
01:04:26But it's genuine love and the trust and the care they have for him.
01:04:31It's a lot of fun to watch.
01:04:32Thanks, Joe. I appreciate it.
01:04:33Enjoy your bye.
01:04:34Appreciate you.
01:04:36Thank you, Joe.
01:04:37That's all we have today.
01:04:38Thanks, guys.
01:05:10Bobby, can you hear me okay?
01:05:19Got you.
01:05:20Awesome.
01:05:20We're going to go ahead and get started with questions.
01:05:23If you have a question, please raise your hand.
01:05:25Yeah, I just wanted to say before I take questions real quick,
01:05:28I just wanted to acknowledge a lot of guys that don't get a lot of credit for
01:05:33any success that we have and are more responsible for the success that we have.
01:05:39More so than even me, and that's Marcus West, our D-line coach,
01:05:44Matt Edwards, also a D-line coach, Christian Taylor,
01:05:48Al Holcomb, and Alvin Vaughn with the linebackers.
01:05:52And then in the secondary, Joe Dana, Jamal Adai, and Scott Booker.
01:05:56Those guys have done a tremendous job, and we wouldn't
01:06:01even come close to having any success that we've had if it wasn't for those guys.
01:06:05So just want to give them a shout out.
01:06:07So I'll open it up for questions.
01:06:10Hey, Bobby, since you started there, what's it been like,
01:06:14your first half a season run through, not only developing a cohesive defense,
01:06:20but a coaching staff and working together with all these guys,
01:06:24some new pieces, some guys that you've known.
01:06:27What's the synergy been like?
01:06:28Because on film or watching the tape back yesterday,
01:06:31it looks like things are going really well.
01:06:34Yeah, that's what you guys see on game day when things are going well.
01:06:38No, but it's like anything.
01:06:39It's like in any relationship.
01:06:41There's growing pains.
01:06:42There's obviously great moments that we have together.
01:06:46There's nothing better.
01:06:46I always talk to our defense and show our defense pictures of our guys celebrating
01:06:51in the locker room because, honestly, there's no feeling better because Monday
01:06:57through Saturday can really be a grind, really, really be a grind.
01:07:03And we could have some grumpy people, not only coaches but players.
01:07:07And it's all worth it when you get that feeling of exhilaration in the locker room.
01:07:14It's incredible.
01:07:18But like I always talk about, Brandon and Sean do a great job assembling our team
01:07:24with guys that fit our culture and good guys, good guys.
01:07:28And everybody's a different personality, so you've got to deal with different
01:07:32personalities.
01:07:33And it's the same with the coaching staff.
01:07:35We put together a really good coaching staff, a new coaching staff with a lot
01:07:38of new faces.
01:07:39And we're still, like any relationship, we're still trying to get on the same page
01:07:46and make sure we're all on the same page with certain things.
01:07:49And we've done a good job with that, and credit to our staff.
01:07:54They've done a great job.
01:07:56And one more quick, were you able to enjoy that Josh Allen play on fourth and two,
01:08:01or are you in that moment so concerned with what's about to happen after that
01:08:06series ends?
01:08:07So I believe the last two weeks we played, they both kind of ended in offensive
01:08:18touchdowns, right, like last minute.
01:08:21And it's been pointed out to me that I'm constantly yelling for everybody to shut
01:08:26up because I got to get ready for the next series of plays that are coming.
01:08:31So no, I don't get to enjoy it because I got to get ready for what's next.
01:08:34I'm trying to play all the scenarios in my head, field goal.
01:08:37Hey, in this case, we don't get it.
01:08:40Here's the situation.
01:08:41How many timeouts?
01:08:42So while everybody's going crazy, I'm very focused on what we're doing next.
01:08:49I wish I could enjoy it.
01:08:53Appreciate it.
01:08:55You got it.
01:08:57There we go.
01:08:58Good afternoon, Coach George Radney, Challenger Community News.
01:09:02How are you, George?
01:09:03Good, and yourself?
01:09:04Oh, I'm good.
01:09:05Good.
01:09:06What was the key to stopping Hunt?
01:09:08Looked like this week you didn't allow the running back, the opposing running
01:09:12back, to really get going.
01:09:14You had a few decent runs, but you guys seemed to really...
01:09:17What was the key to stop slowing him down?
01:09:20Yeah, it always comes back to, obviously, schematically, we want to be schematically
01:09:23sound, but, you know, George, the biggest thing is our fundamentals.
01:09:26We definitely...
01:09:27I talk about it every week, but there's a lot of things that we can improve on,
01:09:31you know, in the run game, fundamentally.
01:09:33We're not where we want to be, and we're going to continue to hammer those home.
01:09:37And, you know, obviously our...
01:09:40Not obviously, but our operation and execution has to also improve.
01:09:45It's loud in that stadium, and we have to continue to stress our guys out with that
01:09:50operation and communication and making sure everybody's on the same page.
01:09:54And last but not least, you seem to...
01:09:56KC always likes to use their tight ends, their tight ends effectively.
01:10:00What was the difference with stopping Noah Gray, seemed like, in the second half
01:10:04after...
01:10:05Especially in the key drives in the late second half.
01:10:08What was the key to that?
01:10:10Yeah, I think it's just, you know, and I think our guys talked about it, it's the
01:10:14awareness of, you know, what they're trying to do, how they're trying to attack
01:10:17us, and, you know, there's no perfect call.
01:10:20I mean, both teams are playing with 11 people.
01:10:23So you can't double everybody to stop the run.
01:10:25You can't, you know, so I think it's just an awareness of what they're trying to do
01:10:31to us offensively and understanding where the pieces are throughout the formation.
01:10:36All right, coach.
01:10:36Thank you for your time.
01:10:37Good luck next week.
01:10:38You got it.
01:10:38Thanks, George.
01:10:40Coach Babbage, Mookie Hawkins, Welford Sports in 80.
01:10:43Great win yesterday.
01:10:45Thanks, Mookie.
01:10:45Appreciate it, man.
01:10:46SFP, smart, fast, and physical.
01:10:51Just care to talk about how your team was able to do that, smart, fast, and physical.
01:10:55Yeah, I mean, we talk about it every day, Mookie, and the guys buy into it.
01:10:59You know, I think the other day I actually saw a mic'd up where TV was breaking down
01:11:04the linebackers with that.
01:11:06And when it comes down to it, I mean, it encompasses a lot of things.
01:11:09And, you know, I think if you can do that, if you can check those three boxes to
01:11:14start with, you're going to give yourself a chance to win a football game.
01:11:19And the guys have bought into it.
01:11:22They believe in it.
01:11:23And that's the most important thing, because you can put whatever letters you
01:11:26want on anything, the guys aren't buying into it, then it doesn't matter.
01:11:31It's just letters.
01:11:33Absolutely, coach.
01:11:34And just care to talk about how you were able to do something that no one was able
01:11:38to do really all year.
01:11:40It was really cut down Kansas City's chunk plays.
01:11:43I think they probably had like one chunk play the entire game.
01:11:46So, you know, just kind of talk about how you were able to do that.
01:11:49Yeah, I mean, I think it's more just our, you know, the philosophical way of how we
01:11:53play defense.
01:11:53I think over the years, shoot, I would guess since we've been here, we've probably
01:11:58given up the least explosive plays defensively.
01:12:01And it's really just, you know, the way we operate, the way we execute,
01:12:04understanding where the strengths and weaknesses are of each defense.
01:12:08And, you know, 15 is hard to stop, 87 is hard to stop.
01:12:12That offense is hard to stop, you know.
01:12:15And I think if you just kind of understand how they try to attack you and, you know,
01:12:21what, like I said, what the strength and weaknesses of each defense are, you know,
01:12:25as long as we keep the ball in front of us to tackle the guy that catches it,
01:12:28you know, we have a chance to play again.
01:12:30Absolutely, coach.
01:12:31You held Kelsey to two catches, eight yards.
01:12:34And that's just duly to the good blend of rushing coverage.
01:12:38Care to talk about how that blended well yesterday?
01:12:41Look, in the past game, if rushing coverage aren't working together, it doesn't matter.
01:12:45So, you know, we had a big emphasis of, you know, winning the line of scrimmage,
01:12:50affecting the quarterback, making sure we were good on what we call our MQFs
01:12:54and our plaster and all those type of things.
01:12:59So, you know, they complemented each other well.
01:13:03Even, you know, there was even a lot of non-statistical things that the defensive
01:13:08line did that was really, really were a major factor in the outcome of the game.
01:13:14And a credit to those guys and Marcus and Matt for getting them going and, you know,
01:13:20having that mindset that they needed to affect the game.
01:13:23Okay, coach.
01:13:24I want you to have a SFR bye week, all right?
01:13:27A smart, fast, and relaxing bye week.
01:13:31You deserved it.
01:13:31Talk to you soon.
01:13:32Thanks, Boogie.
01:13:32I appreciate it, man.
01:13:33I'll try to do that.
01:13:37Hi, Bobby.
01:13:38How are you?
01:13:39Good.
01:13:39How are you?
01:13:40Good.
01:13:41Mookie touched on it a little bit with the rush yesterday.
01:13:47You know, keeping Mahomes in the pocket, how did you guys go about kind of reshaping the
01:13:53pocket even, you know, after the snap where there was a couple plays where maybe, you
01:13:58know, the edge guy got a little too deep, but your tackle was able to kind of slide
01:14:02over and protect that gap and not let him get out to the side?
01:14:05Yeah, we had a pretty clear plan that the defensive line coaches came up with that was
01:14:09really good on how we wanted to rush.
01:14:12And, you know, based off the package we were in, the defense we called, whatever,
01:14:16where they could take their shots, you know.
01:14:20So there's a whole system that we went in with and the guys bought into it.
01:14:24You know, there were still some things in there that we could have done better, but,
01:14:28you know, it's coming up with a plan and executing the plan.
01:14:33How would you assess how your defensive line has played this year?
01:14:36Obviously, there's not a lot of huge sack numbers, but they create a lot of chaos.
01:14:41I mean, you look back at Vaughn last week on that screenplay, he didn't get a sack,
01:14:46but he created that.
01:14:47Greg created a sack yesterday without getting credit for it.
01:14:51It just seems like there's a lot of chaos without the numbers.
01:14:54Yeah, I think that goes to an unselfish, you know, mindset.
01:14:59And, you know, to us, the only stat that matters is a letter.
01:15:03That's the only stat that matters is a letter, and that's a W.
01:15:07So, you know, their mantra in that specific room is four equals one,
01:15:13you know, four equals one.
01:15:15And they truly love each other.
01:15:18They like to see each other have success.
01:15:21And, you know, I think there's a maturation process with that, that, you know,
01:15:26like our offense says, if we just follow the plan, everybody will eat at some point.
01:15:30You just can't go chasing plays.
01:15:33I think Greg mentioned last night the only stat that matters is the letter.
01:15:38So it's probably good to know at least someone's listening there.
01:15:41Yes, yes, because not a lot of people listen to me in general.
01:15:47Terrell, what makes Terrell so good, you know, with those quick decision plays
01:15:52or on the box?
01:15:53He had a big play yesterday as a spy where he turned that into a sack.
01:15:56And he just seems to have real, just control over the defense right now.
01:16:01Yeah, I mean, you've watched him.
01:16:04I mean, he's just a football player.
01:16:05He's just a football player, and he's in complete control of the operation.
01:16:09He's, you know, he is the unquestioned, you know, signal caller leader of our defense
01:16:15and, you know, showed a lot of fire yesterday.
01:16:18And, you know, the work TB puts into it is a good, you know,
01:16:26case of where if you work your tail off at something and, you know,
01:16:31pay attention to the details and all that, things will happen the way they're
01:16:34supposed to happen.
01:16:35And, you know, we need him to continue to make plays for us.
01:16:38He's made some critical plays throughout the last two years.
01:16:41And, you know, I can't say enough about Terrell Bernard.
01:16:46There's been a number of incidents over the season where maybe there's a breakdown
01:16:53and you could see him get on somebody about it.
01:16:55And rarely at that time do they go back at him.
01:16:59How much does that just show the respect that those guys have for him and his
01:17:03control of defense and just his respect as a leader?
01:17:07I just think, like I just said, just shows you exactly what I just talked about,
01:17:12which is that, you know, he's in complete control of it.
01:17:16You know, he's in charge when he's out there.
01:17:19So, and the guys know that is what it is.
01:17:22And we're all professional.
01:17:25Thanks.
01:17:26You got it.
01:17:28Hey, Bobby, thanks for taking some time here.
01:17:30I just wanted to ask you a quick about kind of your opening statement there.
01:17:33Was there anything in specific that made you want to shout out your defensive
01:17:36assistants this week or just generally thought they were missing praise?
01:17:41You know, you just think about it that I'm on this, you know,
01:17:44press conference every week, and really, I'm just a piece of the puzzle.
01:17:48You know, those guys work their tails off.
01:17:52They're detailed, smart, and I just felt like it was, you know,
01:17:58my job to make sure that I acknowledge the work that they're doing and that you
01:18:02guys understand the work that goes on or, you know,
01:18:04the general public understands the work that goes on behind the scenes.
01:18:08And, you know, one never asked me to do that.
01:18:11They wouldn't do that, but they deserve it.
01:18:13They deserve a shout out, and that's the least I could do.
01:18:17All right, great.
01:18:18Thanks for your time.
01:18:18Enjoy the bye week.
01:18:19You got it.
01:18:21Thank you for your time, Sir Bobby.
01:18:23That's all we got for you today.
01:18:25Excellent.
