00:00Good afternoon, I'll get you the injury update here so Taylor Rapp will not practice
00:07he's day-to-day is a hip Christian Benford remains in concussion protocol
00:13he'll be limited with that and then Matt Milano will be limited as well with some
00:18hamstring soreness with that I'll take your questions
00:22John I know I know the approach this week will be treated like another game
00:26and saving you've been doing all year do this week when everybody knows what's
00:31on the other side of a win this week I know that the approach this week will
00:35still be treated like another game yeah how much harder is that to do this week
00:40when you know what's on the other side of a win yeah we've got to take them one
00:43one game at a time just like the regular season and stick with our process and be
00:47consistent with it quite honestly I think when you know who you are and you
00:54know what works for for us it's a lot easier if you have to adjust things this
01:00time of year then then it then it gets more more difficult perhaps but we've
01:04been taking the same approach rather consistently all season I won't take
01:08credit for this but somebody said this I think it was make Gary for that matter
01:12but is this team not afraid to lose if you know what I'm getting at there seems
01:18to be a fearlessness about this team where it doesn't just go out there and
01:24not be afraid to lose is that where we've gotten in this whole thing
01:34I mean it's a mindset like we've talked about numerous times in here right and
01:39you know I think you know that's there's some there's some truth to that in order
01:43to win you can't be afraid to lose and I think those two go hand-in-hand John I
01:47know you played them a lot and then play them in the playoffs but in 2020 it was
01:51the championship game but what do you remember from that game and what are
01:55your thoughts over now this many years later going back for that yeah what a
01:59change of just you know what's going on in our world you know with the COVID
02:05situation at that time and I think there you know there were some fans allowed in
02:11the stadium if I remember correctly and and we had some you know some Buffalo
02:15representation there as well even though the I think it was limited capacity or
02:19limited seating so this one will be a little bit different right so just from
02:23a just from a crowd standpoint and I'm sure we'll have a great a great number
02:27of Buffalo people there as well having our own fans there oh it's huge you know
02:38we've gone on the road we've played at home our fans travel everywhere and in
02:43anywhere that we play so we've got the best fans in the NFL and just love I
02:48think that the connection with our fan base as I've said multiple times over is
02:52is unique in the NFL John can you quantify just how good your your
02:57offensive line has been this year because obviously Sunday it's gonna need
03:01to be really good against this team with their Blitzey but just how good is that
03:05line been I've been great they really have led by Connor you know at the
03:09center position and having those guys pretty much all season long working hip
03:15to hip side-by-side all year has been has been tremendous for our offense and
03:21for our team and and I just can't say enough about their kind of their
03:26brotherhood their their camaraderie if you will I think that just it fosters
03:31into the rest of the in the rest of our team what if anything can you draw from
03:35week 11 and be that game stands alone as this game will so you know as you saw
03:42with our experience last week these games are individual of each other
03:48fans your defense of the city the other day was really appreciated around here
03:54I was just wondering since that is anybody said anything to you about how
03:59much they really did appreciate that whether it was you know some of the gas
04:02station yeah I haven't gotten gas between then and now but it's a good
04:09reminder for me I'll stop I'll stop either tonight or tomorrow night maybe
04:12Friday night and get some gas no it's I've got a couple texts I'm not really
04:17going through and checking all my messages right now but that's what I
04:21genuinely feel this is a place that has embraced me and my family since we moved
04:25here eight years ago and it feels like home and and I'm defensive because I
04:32love the people and you just I think people who don't know Buffalo it's
04:40because they don't they haven't spent time here to to appreciate and respect
04:45what really goes on here and that's just not Orchard Park it's it's beyond
04:49Orchard Park so that's that's truly how I feel about it
04:53I know a BL inspector has had four games on IR. Can you just give us an update on where he is?
04:58Do you plan on having him designated to return at all this week?
05:00We'll see taking it one day at a time and he looks like he's moving in the
05:05right direction so we'll see.
05:06In terms of coaching ball security to your team, can you talk a little bit about how you do that and do you do it to
05:13defensive players as well? I'm just kind of referencing the way Vaughn Miller
05:17held on to the ball. It might be the best example of ball security that I'll see.
05:21Just tell us a little bit about how it's coached to all the players.
05:25Well it's something that we try and do every week on on all three sides of the
05:31ball. Never taking it for granted I think is the key for us. You know we're
05:39somewhat old-fashioned in the way that we approach practice perhaps focusing in
05:44on the fundamentals and you know that's really what I think it's one of the big
05:52stepping stones to playing playing at a high level is the fundamental approach
05:55to the game. From the first game to now they've got Pacheco back, they've got
06:01Brown back at the receiver, Hopkins has been there a while now. How different is
06:05this Kansas City offense do you think compared to the one you saw here in
06:09November? Yeah I mean there's there's some some things that are similar there's
06:14certainly some things that are different personnel wise for sure you know and
06:18conceptually some of the things that they're doing you know a very talented
06:21team and a lot of speed on the field and you know it makes sense in terms of you
06:26know how Andy's been able to lead that offense for for a number of years now
06:30and and for this team that we're gonna play to have the success that they've
06:33had it's incredible I'm sure there's a lot that that goes with all that success
06:38but just an incredible collection of talent and and scheme. Sean we talked a
06:45lot about how you and this team has kind of changed and morphed over the
06:49several years that since you've been the head coach. How about Kansas City? How
06:52have you seen them kind of change over the last five six years to now? Yeah you
06:56know I think that that's probably not as appreciated as it should be just how you
07:03are able how one team is able to sustain success in such a highly competitive
07:10year-to-year week-to-week league like the NFL and that that is a great example of
07:17you know continuing to evolve over time trying to stay out in front of trends
07:22roster wise personnel or scheme wise coaching wise and so it's that's that's
07:30always what we're trying to do and I think that's helped us as well as
07:34continue to drive every every year of what what can we do better and where
07:38where's the league going and how can we continue to stay out in front. Matt do
07:44you have an outlook after talking with the training staff and did that injury
07:47happen when he came out at the end of that game? There was some there was some
07:51soreness afterwards but I don't know if it's an injury or not it's just you know
07:58what I'm being told is hamstring soreness and and so he'll be limited
08:01today with that. Preparing for a team like the Chiefs that you've played so much over
08:06the last few years is it all like preparing for a divisional opponent
08:09where you like they know you so well you know them so well like what element does
08:12that play in preparing for this one? Yeah I mean we've played each other in
08:17multiple times now you know initially when we first arrived here we played in
08:222017 my first season out there and then didn't play for there was a gap in there
08:27of time and then it seems like you know when you have two good teams two good
08:32organizations that you kind of see each other frequently now so we've a lot of
08:39respect for them. Sean you talk about all the things that have changed for both
08:43teams really but one thing that hasn't is Mahomes to Kelsey but in your from
08:47your perspective has it has that changed at all the way they do things because it
08:52obviously has worked for them. Does that change? Those two oh yeah they're
08:59incredible I mean just their their relationship their rapport you know
09:04they've been doing it especially Kelsey for for some time you know even before
09:09Patrick out there so you know just an incredible duo and connection between
09:15those two.
