Bailey Zimmerman talks with Katie Neal at the 2024 CMA Awards Radio Row!
Transcript
00:00So, attending the CMA Awards this year as a first-time nominee, how are you feeling
00:06about that?
00:07Pretty awesome.
00:08It's an honor, but also very nervous.
00:11Nervous?
00:12Because, yeah.
00:13Performing.
00:14Yeah, I'm performing.
00:15If I was just coming to hang out, different story, but yeah.
00:18Have you had rehearsals yet?
00:19Yeah.
00:20Okay.
00:21And when you see the show, you'll understand why I'm so nervous.
00:24You'll see.
00:25Oh, okay.
00:26What a little tease Bailey Zimmerman just gave us.
00:28Yeah, you'll see.
00:29Well, this is exciting.
00:30I honestly think that performing at one of these award shows would be terrifying because
00:34I don't want to look at the people I know and see them in the front row.
00:38You know what I mean?
00:39Yeah.
00:40It's nothing to prepare you for.
00:42Who's it going to freak you out if you make eye contact with?
00:47That's what I always think about.
00:48I don't think anybody.
00:49No?
00:50No.
00:51Okay.
00:52I think I'll be okay there.
00:53Nobody would make you giggle or something?
00:54Yeah, actually, maybe.
00:55I'm going to try to keep it together.
00:56Okay.
00:57Who would you make you giggle if you saw them?
01:02I don't even know.
01:03That's kind of...
01:04I don't know.
01:05You never know, right?
01:06We're not going to put that in the universe.
01:07We're not going to put it in the universe.
01:08Let's just not put that out there.
01:09So you are performing New to Country, which has been a great song for you.
01:13Thanks.
01:14Holy Smokes.
01:15New single.
01:16Talk about this a little bit.
01:17It's one that I didn't write, but I relate to it a lot because being 17 and falling in
01:26love for the first time is one of the sickest feelings ever.
01:29It's the coolest feeling.
01:32I just think that song really touches on that, just that first love.
01:37That's how my first love was, was finding an empty parking lot, smoking cigs, doing
01:42what your parents told you not to do.
01:46I don't know.
01:47And the song is just so badass.
01:50From the moment I heard the first demo, I was like, oh yeah, this is so sick.
01:55It meant a lot to me.
01:57I related to it like crazy.
01:59And I was like, this is going to be so much fun to sing because I love singing the
02:03Oh, yeah.
02:06It's so good.
02:07All right.
02:08Last question before you go.
02:09How's Marley?
02:10Marley's doing great.
02:11Yeah.
02:12And so is Pi.
02:13I have a new puppy.
02:14You got a new puppy?
02:15I got a new puppy.
02:16I got a Golden Retriever.
02:17You got another Golden Retriever?
02:18Yeah.
02:19I'm going to need to know where you're getting your Golden Retrievers because I want to get
02:20a Golden Retriever.
02:21The first people I got Marley off of was awesome and bought her as a puppy and did the thing.
02:28And then this time, I had been wanting to get Marley a sister, but I was waiting on
02:34like a rescue or something to like kind of get me and be like, oh, I need to do this
02:39and not just be like, I'm going to buy a puppy and go buy a puppy.
02:41I wanted to kind of like rescue one.
02:44And the story is kind of weird because I was in like Southern Tennessee at this truck
02:50show and they were like, hey, these people have Golden Retrievers for sale at the end
02:56of the road.
02:57What?
02:58And I'm like, at the end of the road?
02:59So I drove out there and these puppies were like not being treated the greatest.
03:05You could tell it wasn't the greatest.
03:07And something was just like pulling at me.
03:09You're like, I need to get one.
03:10I don't know.
03:11And I picked up Pi.
03:12Her name's Pi.
03:14And I picked her up and it was just like, wow, like I just really, she just like took
03:18right to me and we were like best buds.
03:20And then turns out she was really sick.
03:24And like I kind of rescued her in a way, like didn't rescue her from already being in a
03:30bad spot, but she could have been.
03:32So I was like, okay, this is what I've been looking for.
03:34Like, yeah, this, I need to like, yeah.
03:37So then she ended up getting really, really sick and almost didn't make it.
03:41And we had to like rush her to the ER.
03:43It was this crazy story of like all these shots and, and she was just champ all the
03:48way through it.
03:49Like crushed it.
03:50Wow.
03:51And yeah.
03:52And she's doing good now.
03:53And she's chilling, running around.
03:54Yeah.
03:55It makes me so happy to hear Marlee has a sister.
03:56Yeah.
03:57Marlee's got a sister.
03:58Family Zimmerman, dog dad to the stars.
04:00I'll take that.
