00:00Weather Bureau Pag-asa announces the Northeast Monsoon, or Amihan Season, is finally here.
00:06The Northeast Monsoon season typically lasts from October until February or March, which
00:11means its onset in 2024 is delayed.
00:14This comes more than a month after the end of the Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, which
00:18ended in October 2024.
00:20Pag-asa weather analysts say they had observed the northeasterly wind flow in extreme northern
00:25Luzon in the first week of November, but it wasn't sustained.
00:29In early June, Pag-asa had announced that El Niño was over.
00:33The 2023-2024 El Niño episode caused droughts in parts of the Philippines and agricultural
00:38losses worth billions of pesos.
00:41Pag-asa is currently monitoring the potential development of La Niña in the tropical Pacific.
