00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It remains cold through the next few days, bitter for many with the risk of a widespread frost, ice and also snow showers.
00:12There are many warnings in force through this evening and overnight.
00:15For more details of those warnings, check out our weather app or go to our website.
00:19But certainly you can see these snow showers pushing in, temperatures really taking a tumble.
00:23Those wintry showers also running in across the North Channel towards North Wales, North West England.
00:28Drier skies elsewhere, clearer skies but where you have seen those showers through the daytime, expect some ice as we head into the early hours of the morning.
00:36At the same time, the cloud will thicken towards the South West, bringing with it the chance of some rain towards Cornwall as well as Pembrokeshire.
00:43Eventually this wet weather nudges further North East very slowly.
00:47Before that though, here are your temperatures in the towns and cities.
00:50Much lower than that in the countryside across the snowfields of Scotland, minus 11 degrees Celsius.
00:55Mid Wales up towards Northern England, Pennines possibly down to around minus 6 degrees Celsius.
01:00So a very cold start to the day.
01:02Let's just focus in on the West Country as well as southern parts of Wales because this feature here will bring rain but it will bump into the cold air.
01:09So there is the chance of some snow, particularly over the moors, the higher ground.
01:13A snow warning extends throughout the day on Thursday.
01:16The rain nudges across the far South of Wales towards central southern England.
01:20Again, it's the coastline seeing some wet weather with clouds spilling ahead of it towards the Severn Estuary.
01:26Brighter skies elsewhere through Thursday morning but the first part of Thursday will get off to a very cold start indeed with a severe frost.
01:36Now through the morning, a few features run down from the North towards the West as well as the East.
01:41So this is a mix of rain, sleet and snow showers.
01:44Snow inland over the higher ground, rain and sleet snow towards the coastline.
01:49Winds pick up particularly across the North Channel there, stronger wind and we could see some running in towards the North West.
01:55And then this feature here brings with it rain, sleet and snow yet again across more northern and northeastern areas of Scotland pushing ever southwards.
02:03Brighter skies with some sunshine across much of England and Wales away from the far South West where you'll see that mix of rain and some hill snow eventually receding away.
02:13And then Thursday night yet again will be a bitterly cold one.
02:17You could see some accumulations of that snow especially over the higher ground as we head through Thursday evening.
02:23Some tricky driving conditions out there with the risk of ice as well as this feature runs down towards Wales as well as the Midlands.
02:29And then winds pick up along this East Coast here again with a mix of rain, rain and snow inland, but just grazing the East Coast.
02:37At the same time, further showers are likely to push in from the North West.
02:42So into Friday morning, bright for many, a widespread severe frost through the afternoon.
02:47You'll see temperatures up to around four or five degrees Celsius, so much lower than what we expect for this time of year.
02:53And there will be some drier and brighter weather around. The winds ease as well.
02:57However, into Saturday, this weather front here bringing with it rain, we'll see some snow preceding it.
03:03So the risk of some heavy rain, also some snow, particularly across northern England as well as Scotland.
03:07And some high rainfall totals for Wales as well as the West Country warnings here through Saturday.
03:12And then the milder air will gradually push its way northwards into Sunday.
03:17Heavy showers for many, the risk of gales as well.
03:20Some high waves associated with it and that extends into the first part of next week.
03:25So some nasty weather coming our way through the weekend.
03:28It could cause some problems on the roads as you are traveling through the weekend.
03:32Stay tuned to our forecast and obviously we'll keep you posted here on all our social media channels, YouTube.
