00:45So as soon as you walked in, it's kind of funny. This table's wet or did I draw myself

00:53lot of stuff to sign and I was going on and just moments ago. Yeah. Okay. When you first
00:58walked up and there was a conversation about gluing Holly's bangs to her forehead, you
01:03were like, okay. And then turn around and laugh. And I go, look, this is Riley and ours
01:10relationship. It's always, people think that it is, that it's weird, but this is just how
01:14it probably comes off. It's like, I don't like y'all. That's actually what we think.
01:19But I really, I like y'all a lot. We like you having fun right now. Oh, we are too.
01:24We want to talk about Australia though. Can we talk about Australia? Yeah. Okay. This

01:51let it fizzle out and I'd go to the next song and then they just chant again. And they're
01:54not letting it go. No. So I put, I got a brand new boot. This is smart. And I put a cup in
02:00it. Yeah. Oh, that's even, that's even a step further. Wait a second. He's pretty smart.
02:05We heard about new boots, but this is one step above. Well, you know, I'm pretty. This
02:10is what show business is. Yeah. I feel like I'm giving you show business. But man, you
02:13should see my face. I was like, oh, so gross. Like I sold it. I do think you're a pretty
02:19good actor. We've talked about this before because you can never, they don't watch this
02:22down there anyway. Right? They won't see it. They'll never see it. They might. If you ever,
02:26no one listens to our show. Let's be honest. I always go back and watch them after to see
02:31if it was like I thought it was. Really? Every time. Every time. Yeah. Every time. Huh? It
02:35was exactly the same. It was great. Just as good. Last time we saw you as faster horses.

02:51Farley in the old SNL skit. Do you remember this? Where he's like, he lives in a van by
02:55the river. No, he's interviewed. He's an interview person like us. And he's always real nervous.

03:12You feel like that's how our interviews are with you. It's great. It's a good interview.
03:19Well, y'all really get it. We'll talk about the music. What music? I don't know. You do
03:28music. It's so mean. What do we have questions? I want to talk about duck blind Nashville
03:35because this student is the new, it's the new venue. Everyone's doing the Broadway thing
03:41and you're like, no, I'm doing, I'm doing Midtown because that's like, that's, that's
03:44the cool place to be. That's the new thing. He's always on the cutting edge. Okay. Seriously.
03:51Uh, I think it's cool that it's not on Broadway to me. Like that's where, that's where I hung
03:56out at. When I started going to town, used to play at whiskey jam, which was in winters,
03:59which is where that bar is now. And, uh, it's cool to like, see a lot of like up and coming
04:04artists come in there and kind of get their start playing in the same stage. I did. We
04:07left that stage pretty much the same, but upstairs is a good place to like watch ball
04:11games and think about shooting ducks. So as loser, it's still losers. So losers as connected
04:16to it's connected. Yeah. Okay. Cause I like that you did, you made sure to keep like the
04:20integrity.
04:21It does. I mean, cause that's a, that's a special place to a lot of people. You know,
04:25Nashville's growing so much that you can't help but have all these, you know, old historic
04:28venues and bars getting torn down and big, really nice stuff getting built. But like,
04:32you want to keep that kind of like a hole in the wall, honky tonk, local hangout kind
04:36of feel. I really appreciate that. Cause so, so many times you're like, no, why would
04:39you change it? I didn't say it like that. I do remember going to winners and losers
04:45back in the day, you know, 10, I don't know, probably more than 10 years ago and going
04:49to whiskey jam on a Monday night. And now whiskey jam has gotten so huge that it's now
04:55it's downtown. Yeah. Uh, did you play there when it was, Oh yeah. Yeah. Several, several
05:01times. I think, I think everybody did. Honestly, everybody played at winters at some point
05:05and that was, you know, you had to get there early or you couldn't get in. And, uh, they're
05:09still doing, Ray's Rowdy's doing some stuff there now, but it's still the same kind of
05:12thing. A lot of up and coming artists and songwriters get to go in there and tell their
05:15story about their songs. And that's, that's what drew me to Nashville. I guess when I
05:18started going up there was the songwriting and the stories of, you know, how they came
05:22up with the stuff they did. Do you think as Nashville expands and it's like, you know,
05:26Broadway, that, that crowd keeps getting bigger and now it's getting out to midtown. Where's
05:30the next spot that's like the spot where people, not a lot of people know about yet. I don't
05:34know, but I'll find it. I'll find it. I think that midtown is always going to, it's going
05:39to be a while before that gets like a Broadway feel to it. Cause Broadway is like, it's a
05:43spectacle and it's something you got to go see. Everybody's got to go down there a time
05:45or two and, and experience it. But it's a completely different vibe over there in midtown.
05:49I don't think you could walk down Broadway anymore, especially with all the bachelorette
05:54parties. Yeah. The women are just insane for, if you walk down Broadway, the bachelorette
06:01parties will, they'll not be able to handle this. One time before I bought my place in
06:05Nashville, I stayed at the Graduate. Y'all know about that place? No. Well I didn't either,
06:09but I came off the elevator and it was like, I could hear, it was so blonde and bright.
06:14It was just like all these girls in pink. It was like thousands of them down there.
06:17And it like, it made me nervous. I just shut the door and went back up to my room and I
06:21called my buddy and I was like, dude, what's the deal? What's going on? And he said, that's
06:23like the bachelorette spot. That's where they stay. And I just didn't know that.
06:28Brian, I don't think you could get through a Broadway bachelorette situation without being
06:32accosted. Well, I don't know if I'd want to. Sometimes you want to get accosted. Sometimes
06:38you don't. True. Yeah. Well, let's talk about the Damn Country Music tour. Why not? Yeah,
06:46that's going to be great. Well, we touched on it because you were just in Australia. Yeah.
06:49This is your tour. Yeah. Y'all should come out. I think we were going to. Okay. We're going to
06:55get a little taste of it at Stars and Strings. Just a little bit. Just a little bit. Yeah.
06:59It's going to be fun. We're taking Ella back out, Drake White, Jake Worthington,
07:02several up and coming artists that I'm a big fan of. And I mean, this year has been great.
07:07All the shows are great. It's nice to have a new album out when you're going on tour. So it's going
07:11to be a lot of fun to see kind of the fruits of our labor this year. We went all over the place,
07:16a lot of new places. And I just that's one thing I never get tired of is playing country shows.
07:22I love that Drake is back out because if you don't know his story, he had a stroke, right?
07:29Yeah. And I don't know if it's a common knowledge, but I'm sure there'll be like his story coming out
07:33at some point in a place where people can find it. But it's really, really inspiring. And I was
07:38a fan of him from when I was a kid. He grew up 10 minutes from me in Hooks Bluff, Alabama. So
07:44really, really enjoyed him for a long time. And now we're really good friends. And it's
07:47great to be able to take him on the road and see him kind of back at it.
07:49Now, do you think that you'll have music, like you'll write music with him while you're on the
07:54road maybe? Because I find it interesting that you have songs with Ella, but maybe...
07:58Well, I haven't been on tour with Drake yet. You know what I mean? I got a song with Luke
08:02Colms when I was on tour with Luke. Ella was with me. So we ended up with two songs from that. And
08:06now I'm sure... One reason I like to take people out on the road with me is for that reason. First
08:10off, people I'm a fan of, people I want to hear play live, but also people I can write with.
08:14Yeah.
08:14Where do you feel the most inspired to write a song? Is there any particular place,
08:20or is it just kind of random?
08:22It never happens the same way twice, it doesn't seem like. But I definitely get most of my
08:26inspiration from being back home on my farm. Life just seems to move a lot slower down there. And
08:32my family's in a lot of the songs I write and those values in a small town. And
08:37between that and sitting in a tree or in a duck blind, that's kind of where I get most of my
08:41ideas.
08:42There's been a lot of hunting talk so far because we're in hunting season right now.
08:48I don't hunt, but my husband hunts. So I hear a lot about the hunting stories.
08:52For him, it's like Christmas.
08:54Yeah. What's your bucket list hunt? Have you had it
08:57yet? Or are you still thinking about something?
09:00Well, it took four years for me to get an elk with my bow in Montana.
09:04Really?
09:04And I got one this year. So that checked a big box for me. That was a lot of fun. And that's
09:08different than any other kind of hunting, because it's so physical. You're hiking in
09:11and having to hike out with this big, giant animal and everything. Plus elk's delicious.
09:17At this point, I'd just like to get about four days to sneak off somewhere and hide.
09:20I don't care what it is.
