00:00I was feeling inspired after we were all at the Boot Barn fashion show last night to wear
00:06these fun boots.
00:07Listen, I felt like everybody there was looking at me for my reaction.
00:11I wish I could have seen you.
00:13I could.
00:14It was like trying.
00:15Are we standing up?
00:16Yeah, we're standing up.
00:17Okay.
00:18I was trying not, it was like not laughing in church.
00:19You know, I was like, cause it was, it was fun, but it was fun, but I was like right
00:24there.
00:25And the lady came out and she was doing the, there was a lady doing acrobats and she was
00:28like interpretive dance and they were all staring a hole through me when they were walking
00:32down.
00:33I didn't know where to look.
00:34Is that the first fashion show you've ever been to?
00:36It won't be the last though.
00:37It's a fun time, right?
00:38I enjoyed it.
00:39I wish it lasted about three hours and I was drinking.
00:44Yeah.
00:45That would have been fun.
00:47It's very quiet when it's happening.
00:48Here's what was tough when it started and that girl was doing that dance thing where
00:51she was spinning on her head and stuff and it was real quiet.
00:53I wanted to clap.
00:54Miranda had to like stop me because I was like, you don't clap for, that was awesome
00:58when she did.
00:59Oh my God.
01:00It's a different setting than I'm used to.
01:01I can't believe that Miranda Lambert like reached over and stopped you.
01:03Don't do that.
01:04Don't embarrass me here.
01:05That's incredible.
01:06All right.
01:07CMA Awards.
01:08That's what we're here for.
01:09You are performing with Ella Langley, correct?
01:11Do I have that right?
01:12That's right.
01:13All right.
01:14Um, this song, when she sent you this to write the second verse, did you like, what was your
01:18thought about it?
01:19Did you imagine that it would get the reaction that it's gotten?
01:22No, this song is proof that I don't know what's a hit cause uh, I mean it was, it was very
01:28organic how it happened, which has been like a lot of the collaborations I've done.
01:31You know, I took Thomas Rhett, Duck Cotton and we came out with half of me and I was
01:34on tour with Luke Combs and played him different around here and that ended up being a big
01:38hit for me.
01:39So, uh, Ella was out on tour with me, heard the song.
01:43I don't think they really know what they were going to do with it.
01:44I don't know if they were going to release it.
01:45Yeah.
01:46Cause it's so different.
01:47It is.
01:48And I, and I said, well, I mean, I wonder if, you know, the second verse was kind of
01:50more of the first verse.
01:51What if I wrote it from like the guy's perspective when we did it and, and they liked it and
01:55uh, yeah, I thought the talking verses were probably a little too traditional, right?
02:01But how awesome is it to see a song that's that country that's really that big of a hit?
02:05We were just down in Florida at a show that was at a casino and when I left one of the
02:09nights I was like walking past the bar and they were blasting that song at like 1am everyone's
02:14like dancing to that song, which is, I was like, this is the last place I ever would
02:18have expected to see that.
02:19But they loved it.
02:20It's uh, yeah, it's crazy.
02:21It's kind of a phenomenon.
02:23It really is.
02:24I've never had a viral hit, I guess, you know, and that was like kind of an overnight
02:27thing and you picked your phone up the next day and you couldn't get away from it.
02:31It was on everything, you know, so it's cool to see that I'm super happy for her success
02:35with it too.
02:36It's been awesome to watch.
02:37Great.
02:38And you guys are going to perform.
02:39Is this your first time performing on the CMAs?
02:40I think so.
02:41Yeah.
02:42You don't know?
02:43I feel better for not knowing.
02:44Yes, it is.
02:45It is.
02:46Okay, great.
02:47Are you nervous at all?
02:48Let's just do two answers.
02:49No, it's not.
02:50Okay.
02:51So now we got both.
02:52Um, who are you most like, who do you want to not make eye contact with?
02:53I didn't even think about that till you said it now.
02:55I feel like Dierks Bentley.
02:56I saw where everybody's sitting at, so if I look at him.
02:59Don't look Dierks in the eye.
03:00It'll be all over.
03:02And then Damn Good Day to Leave, your current single, obviously doing really well.
03:05Talk about this song.
03:06Yeah, it's a fun breakup song if there is such a thing.
03:10I love the thought of, you know, the girl left and you're sad, but the fish are biting
03:15and the beer's cold, so it'll be all right.
03:20And it's a fun song and it makes you want to roll the window down and turn it up.
03:23So I love to see that song and it's always great when a song's climbing the chart because
03:26you get to watch the crowd sing it louder every week.
03:28Yeah, which is always fun.
03:29And then you're going out on the Damn Good Day to Leave tour in 2025.
03:32Uh, that would be a good name for it.
03:34Wait, no.
03:35It does have damn in it.
03:36It's the Damn Country Music Tour.
03:37Damn Country Music Tour.
03:38That was close.
03:39So close.
03:40You can't throw damn in too many things and confuse all of us.
03:41Anyway, what are you excited about for the tour?
03:43My new damn tour.
03:44Damn it, Riley.
03:45Riley's damn tour.
03:46Damn Country Music Tour.
03:47Ella Lange is going to be with me.
03:49I kind of can't get away from her at this point.
03:52You guys are glued together.
03:54Drake White, Jake Worthington, a bunch of up-and-coming artists that I'm a huge fan
03:57of.
03:58And you know, it's really exciting to have a, you know, my album Don't Mind If I Do just
04:01came out.
04:02So I'll get to play a lot of these songs I haven't even played live yet, which is always
04:04a lot of fun.
04:05Good.
04:06Well, I'm very happy for you.
04:07I can't wait to see this performance.
04:08It's Friday night on the CMA Awards.
04:09Riley Green, thanks for coming by.
04:10I'm looking forward to it.
