00:00A 2,000-square-meter lote was given by the city of Tumuran in Cebu

00:05for the first ever satellite office of the Bureau of Agricultural Research in Visayas.

00:10This was reported by Jocet Antista of PIA Central Visayas.

00:17The local government gave a 2,000-square-meter lote to the Bureau of Agricultural Research

00:22or BAR of the Department of Agriculture for its satellite office.

00:27This was after BAR Director Jonel Soriano announced

00:30in a post-suana forum held in Tumuran

00:33that of the six satellite offices to be built in the country,

00:36Tumuran was chosen for Visayas.

00:39As of now, we do not have satellite offices in the country.

00:44Based on our plan, based on the approval of the management,

00:48we will build five.

00:51One here in Cebu, two in Mindanao, and two in Luzon.

00:55The sixth is in the central office and in Visayas.

01:00In order for the agency to help implement the plan for the construction of the satellite office,

01:05Tumuran Municipal Mayor Democrito Diamante

01:08led a ceremonial turnover of the lote.

01:11In order for Director Jonel and his office to benefit,

01:16so that they can earn money,

01:18we will now have a ceremonial turnover of the lote

01:23for our BAR office here in Tumuran.

01:28Through the satellite offices,

01:31BAR's goal is to strengthen agricultural research and development in the country.

01:36The main goal of our office is to build new technologies.

01:44Technology for farming and fishing.

01:47Technology on how to increase our rice.

01:52Technology on how to increase the income of our farmers and fishermen.
