00:00Mary Jane Veloso is very happy because she was allowed to go back to the Philippines.
00:05For her family, this will be their happiest Christmas after not being with Mary Jane for more than a decade.
00:12We have the first news from Darlene Cai.
00:17The promise of a better life for the family brought Mary Jane Veloso to Indonesia 14 years ago.
00:25Darlene was just 2 years old.
00:30But all of Mary Jane's dreams came back to nothing.
00:37When she was jailed and sentenced to death in Indonesia.
00:41Because of what her recruiters said, that she didn't know that she was carrying 2 kilos of heroin.
00:49Now, Darlene is 17 years old.
00:53More than a decade of birthdays, Christmas, New Year's Eve, passed by without her mother.
00:59It's very hard to grow up without a mother.
01:03I get jealous sometimes.
01:05I even think that if my mother is there, I will be with her.
01:09It's hard because sometimes I was bullied in school.
01:13My parents said that I was jailed.
01:19But we didn't notice it because when I was sentenced, nothing would happen.
01:27That's why we didn't notice it.
01:29Darlene is now in 9th grade.
01:31She looks like Mary Jane to her two siblings.
01:34Her brother, Mack, is now working as a farmer.
01:39Since then, her mother has been carrying her prayers.
01:44And now, she was blessed by the Lord.
01:48Mary Jane will be able to go home.
01:51I didn't know what to do back then.
01:53I'm very happy.
01:57Mary Jane's parents, father Cesar and mother Celia, are also very happy.
02:03Mary Jane's room is now ready in their house.
02:07Mary Jane, this is your room.
02:09When you arrive, you will sleep here.
02:12Mary Jane is the daughter of five siblings.
02:15They have reached the point where they don't expect that Mary Jane will be released.
02:20That's why they are now hoping that their daughter will go home.
02:24This is probably their happiest Christmas.
02:28We are very happy that our daughter will go home.
02:34She has been praying in Indonesia for a long time.
02:39The Veloso family has not yet talked to Mary Jane about the new development in her case.
02:45But in a statement read by her prison warden,
02:48Mary Jane said that she was very happy to have the opportunity to go home and be with her family here in the Philippines.
02:56She thanked everyone who helped her to return home.
03:02It's time for her mother to go home.
03:04Darren has already planned what they will do.
03:07We miss her so much.
03:09I hope she will go home.
03:11We will do everything we can to make her happy.
03:17So that we can make up for the time she was away.
03:22That's the first news here in General Mamerto Natividad, Nueva Ecija.
