00:00Whether you ski the west, midwest, or the east this winter, you'll be able to find good conditions somewhere.
00:07But AccuWeather's long-range expert, Paul Pastelok, says if you're chasing after the best conditions this season, you'll want to head west.
00:15And I think that places like Colorado and Utah and then across the northwest, I think those are the best areas going forward here,
00:24because they're going to see more frequent storms during the course of the winter season.
00:28Not only are more storms expected in the west due to a favorable storm track, but the weather pattern looks to be cooler than the historical average for many ski areas.
00:37In contrast, milder-than-normal temperatures are expected to prevail in the east this winter.
00:43Despite this temperature outlook, Pastelok says more snow is expected across the northeast and mid-Atlantic than last year,
00:50and conditions are generally expected to be good, especially in places like northern New England and western New York, where above-average snowfall is forecast.
00:59This year, yes, it's going to be mild. There's going to be some periods where it does interrupt.
01:04But I think those areas will do well at the beginning of the season, during the holidays, and maybe at the end of the season as well.
01:11In the mid-Atlantic and southern Appalachians, Pastelok says the mild temperatures forecast for this winter are a concern.
01:18And so when you get the snow events that do take place, that will melt off and we'll have problems as far as keeping good conditions on the slope.
01:26In the north-central United States, above-average snowfall is forecast for much of the region this winter, and Pastelok says conditions will generally be good.
