00:00Hi there, it's John Blow from the Yorkshire Post. I'm going to take you through some of
00:04the things coming up in the week ahead. First of all, it's 40 years this week since the
00:08original Do They Know It's Christmas single was recorded, and the new version can be heard
00:12for the first time today on BBC Breakfast Radio. The latest track blends voices from
00:17three previous editions of the song, the original in 1984, 2004 and 2014, including Harry Styles,
00:26George Michael and U2's Bono. In politics, a sensitive and divisive issue comes to the
00:32House of Commons on Friday, as MPs could vote on a bill seeking to change the law on assisted
00:36dying. MPs will debate the Terminally Ill Adults End of Life Bill, introduced by Spen
00:42Valley member for Labour, Kim Leadbeater, when it returns to Parliament for its second
00:46reading. It is intended to allow adults who are terminally ill, subject to safeguards
00:52and protections, to request and be provided with assistance to end their own life. And
00:58meanwhile, on a much lighter note, Christmas will become inescapable as we reach December
01:051st on Sunday. Events are taking place around Yorkshire to get people in the spirit, whether
01:10that be the first Christmas market fair on Friday, Skipton Christmas market starting
01:16on Sunday, the Otley Victoria market on the same day, or the four-day Great Yorkshire
01:20Christmas fair in Harrogate on Thursday.
