00:00The Dengue cases in the country were successfully brought down by the Health Department this October.
00:05But they fear that the number of cases may increase due to the water that was collected from the floods.
00:12This is the story of Bian Manalo.
00:17The Department of Health is worried about the possible outbreak of the Dengue cases
00:22due to the upcoming floods entering the United States.
00:26They have collected a lot of water that could be used to treat the mosquitoes that carry the Dengue virus.
00:32According to the latest D.O.H. data,
00:34the number of cases of Dengue in the country dropped by 17%
00:39from October 20 to November 2 of this year,
00:42compared to October 6 to October 19.
00:45The number of cases of Dengue in the country has reached more than 340,000 this year.
00:51This is more than 80% higher than last year.
00:55Our Dengue cases have actually increased.
00:57So there are several local governments that have declared outbreaks.
01:02More than 800 individuals have been reported to be infected this year
01:06with a case fatality rate of 0.26%.
01:09This is lower than last year.
01:12The D.O.H. has emphasized that the continued lowering of the C.F.R.
01:17has led to a faster screening, testing, and proper treatment.
01:22So because of the early diagnosis through that lateral flow test,
01:26I think we are able to diagnose early.
01:30The public health department has encouraged everyone to maintain a clean environment,
01:35to look for and dry the collected water that could be used to treat the mosquitoes.
01:40It has also urged communities and local governments to be proactive in fighting Dengue.
01:45Some of the symptoms of Dengue are high fever,
01:49severe headaches,
01:51headache and dizziness,
01:53nausea,
01:54and body aches.
01:57The D.O.H. has said that the best way to avoid Dengue
02:02is to avoid mosquito bites
02:04and to maintain a clean environment.
