00:36After developer Tarsier Studios left the world of Little Nightmares behind, many wondered
00:40what their next project would be, and the studio isn't strained too far from their roots.
00:45Focusing on two children, a brother and sister, players must navigate a nightmarish island
00:51full of disturbing creatures and abominations, all while solving numerous puzzles to avoid
00:56being caught.
00:57Unlike their previous series, however, players will eventually be able to freely explore
01:02off the beaten path to uncover disturbing new secrets about the island.
01:06The game already somehow feels even more oppressive and menacing than anything in Little Nightmares,
01:12with some truly unsettling level design, lighting, and especially the creatures hunting the protagonists.
01:18Oddly enough, Tarsier's previous franchise will also be releasing its third entry, this
01:23time headed up by Until Dawn's Supermassive Games in 2025.
01:28Both games will feature cooperative play to survive their nightmarish worlds together.
01:41The Dark Pictures Anthology, Directive 8020
01:52Speaking of Supermassive Games, their Dark Anthology Pictures series is continuing into
01:56the distant future with a new celebrity lead, this time the MCU's Lashana Lynch, with many
02:02others yet to be revealed.
02:04The fifth entry in their player choice driven series, Dark Pictures continues their tradition
02:08of taking inspiration from classic horror, this time John Carpenter's 1982 masterpiece,
02:15The Thing.
02:16While little is known about the overarching narrative or how the player's choices will
02:19affect the outcome, given the inspirations as well as the description of The Thing in
02:24Deep Space, we can assume that much of the player's choices will be based around who
02:28and their group they can trust as an alien species slowly assimilates its way into the
02:33group.
02:34Supermassive's Dark Pictures series has had a rocky track record, but hopefully the futuristic
02:38setting and premise will offer something new for fans of the genre.
02:49Tormented Souls
02:56Horror fans have a lot of nostalgia for the days of the original Resident Evil games,
03:01and while the series is constantly evolving with the times, some developers and fans have
03:06taken to recreating these classics of survival horror.
03:09Tormented Souls is getting a direct sequel in 2025, and will continue the lineage of
03:14its predecessor with fixed camera angles, tank controls, and a focus on solving ridiculously
03:19obtuse puzzles.
03:21Everything about the game pays homage to the RE series, right down to inventory management
03:26and even the sound effects as text is written out on the screen.
03:29Tormented Souls 2 does offer a few differences from its inspirations, such as a dodge mechanic
03:34as well as a focus on improvised weapons rather than traditional firearms.
03:39With detailed environments, cheesy voice acting, and a claustrophobic atmosphere, those looking
03:43for a more nostalgic horror experience should keep Tormented Souls 2 on their wish list.
03:54We Harvest Shadows
04:03Leave it to video games to take something seemingly everyday and mundane and turn it
04:07into a nightmarish experience.
04:10Cozy sims are all the rage these days, but solo developer David Wheel is turning the
04:15traditional Stardew Valley experience into a psychological nightmare.
04:20Focusing on the day-to-day chores of farm life, night brings a whole new set of dangers,
04:25as something stalks the player from the shadows and the deeper you go into your many acres
04:29of farmland, the more disturbing the events become.
04:33Designed as a slow-burn horror story, keeping up with your crops and livestock as well as
04:37your farmhouse as the nightmare unfolds around you is reminiscent of some of the greatest
04:42horror films of the modern day.
04:44The game already has a demo on Steam for those interested in the nightmare of farm life.
04:56The Midnight Walk
05:05Although the Tim Burton-esque The Midnight Walk doesn't look like a traditional horror
05:09game, the deeper you look, the more disturbing it becomes.
05:13Animated entirely in stop-motion claymation, The Midnight Walk will see players guide a
05:18little lantern named Popboy through increasingly disturbing locations full of horrific creatures
05:23all looking to snuff out his flame.
05:26The handcrafted animation style adds not only more depth to the world and its monsters,
05:31but also adds to the overall unsettling atmosphere itself.
05:35Fully playable in VR for even more ambience, Popboy needs to actively avoid conflict if
05:40he hopes to survive the path of the Midnight Walk and see his journey to its end.
05:55The Sinking City 2
06:06Lovecraftian horror is fertile ground for the genre, and few have managed to capture
06:10the true spirit of HP Lovecraft like Frogwares' The Sinking City in 2019.
06:16In 2025, the developer is diving deep into the depths of this nightmare once again with
06:22another standalone visit to the flooded city of Arkham.
06:25Utilizing the developer's masterful tools of investigation, a new protagonist will interrogate
06:30numerous NPCs all affected by the Lovecraftian horrors of the floods slowly swallowing the
06:36city.
06:37As the floodwaters move throughout what remains of the city, new areas will open up and will
06:41either provide answers or even more questions about the mysterious events unfolding in Arkham.
06:47Full of nightmarish creatures and occultists worshiping an eldritch deity, The Sinking
06:52City 2 forces players to survive Lovecraft's 1920s horror and question their own sanity
06:58in the face of the unknown.
07:06Jurassic Park Survival
07:19Admit it.
07:20How many of you have either imagined or wondered how long you would survive on Isla Nublar
07:24after the dinosaurs escaped?
07:26For those of us who saw the original film in 1993, this was a daily discussion amongst
07:31our playground friends.
07:32Now, over 30 years later, God we're old, Jurassic Park Survival will give players the chance
07:38to survive after being left on the island after all the remaining staff and survivors
07:43have been evacuated, leaving only you and some of the greatest predators in history
07:47alone on the island.
07:48Giving players the ability to search the island scavenging for resources, iconic locations
07:53such as the Visitor's Center, The Gates, and many other familiar locations as well as brand
07:58new ones will be fully explorable.
08:01Focusing on stealth and resource management, players will need to avoid encounters if they
08:05want to survive not only the many dinosaurs, but the island itself.
08:18State of Decay 3
08:25While not a horror title in the traditional sense, you don't know true terror until specific
08:30members of your community are killed during a scavenging mission and suddenly your settlement
08:34is without clean water or a doctor.
08:37Focusing more on the long-term goal of surviving a zombie apocalypse rather than simply mowing
08:41down the undead with every weapon imaginable, State of Decay 3 tasks players with building
08:47a new home for those that remain and keeping them happy and healthy as the world around
08:52them continues to crumble.
08:54State of Decay 2 introduced multiplayer, and the third entry expands on this with its persistent
08:59open-world design and ever-evolving threat of zombie hordes, this time with infected
09:04wildlife added to the mix.
09:06With the constant threat of permadeath for your survivors, although their sacrifice will
09:10never be forgotten, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
09:22Silent Hill F
09:31Konami is finally resurrecting their long-dormant IPs, and Silent Hill is experiencing a very
09:36welcome resurgence.
09:38After the woefully misguided and disappointing Silent Hill short message, Bloober Team's
09:43remake of Silent Hill 2 proved to be a surprisingly faithful and updated experience that has us
09:49hopeful for the franchise's future.
09:51Silent Hill F is slated to be the next mainline installment in the series and is also set
09:56earliest in the timeline, taking place in the 1960s, leaving the titular town behind
10:02and instead being set in a Japanese village affected by the otherworld of Silent Hill
10:06proper.
10:08Silent Hill F features a very unique visual style for the series, full of flowers and
10:13overgrowth, while still maintaining its traditional fog-laden aesthetic.
10:17With much of the development team composed of industry veterans, we're cautiously optimistic
10:21about this new direction that looks to expand on the established lore of the beloved horror
10:26franchise.
10:34Will Follow the Light
10:43Horror doesn't always have to come from something supernatural.
10:46Sometimes, the scariest things are simply the unknown and the fight for survival against
10:51overwhelming odds.
10:52Set against the backdrop of a Nordic winter, the isolation of exploring these areas creates
10:57a sense of dread as the elements battle against the player just as much as the personal demons
11:02of the protagonist's past.
11:04Focusing primarily on exploration and puzzle solving, the world actively works against
11:09you, with biting and harshly cold environments and an unpredictable ocean as you sail or
11:14traverse the uncharted and abandoned landscape by dogsled.
11:18The sense of loneliness is palpable, as each new location unravels more memories and the
11:23mystery of what led the main character to this place and their journey back home.
