00:00Tucker Carlson spoke publicly for the first time since his abrupt departure from Fox News,
00:04but he didn't say exactly why he was fired. So what are the leading theories about his exit?
00:08Brute can explain in less than 60 seconds. Most theories point to a series of redacted
00:12messages that recently came to light. Just one day before the Fox News and Dominion
00:16Voting Systems trial was set to begin, the News Network reportedly found highly offensive and
00:21crude texts from Carlson in court filings, including one in which he calls a senior Fox
00:26executive a misogynistic slur. Leading up to the trial, other texts from Carlson were made public,
00:31including vulgar messages about Sidney Powell and critical messages about Donald Trump. It's
00:35unclear why it took until a day before the trial for the Network to discover the troubling messages,
00:40and Fox News has yet to release a statement as to why Carlson was fired.
00:44The content in many of the messages remains unknown, which has led other news outlets to
00:49call for the texts to be unredacted, meaning they could still become public in the future,
00:53even though Fox News and Dominion settled the lawsuit for $787.5 million last week.
