00:00The primaries just wrapped up, which means we're on to the midterms.
00:04And even though we're not voting for a president, they're still very, very important.
00:07And here's why.
00:08All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for grabs.
00:12And 35 out of the 100 Senate seats, also up for grabs.
00:16And there's 36 gubernatorial races.
00:18So yes, the midterms are very important.
00:20The Dems currently hold the House with a slim majority.
00:23And the Senate is split 50-50, only having the Democratic majority,
00:26thanks to the tiebreaker, Vice President Kamala Harris.
00:30So if one or both of the chambers flip,
00:32the Biden administration will no doubt face an uphill battle
00:35trying to pass the legislation that they promised on the campaign trail.
00:38And when it comes to governors,
00:40they're the ones that veto or sign into law legislation like abortion bans.
00:46And they issue executive orders when it comes to, like, disaster emergencies.
00:50So again, there's a lot at stake come November 8th.
