00:00And I'm so excited about Generation Z, because we are like the face of the future.
00:16How did you know at three? What sparked it?
00:18I have no idea. I just think, like I said, that it called me and that it was my passion and my calling to do this.
00:24So, I've been doing it ever since and I love it.
00:30I didn't know what was going on in the world. I didn't know that there was racism.
00:49I thought just we all loved each other. We're all together.
00:52So, I feel very grateful that I was in 12 Years of Sleep.
01:00Ava did make history and she was the first African-American woman to direct a film with a budget over $100 million,
01:14which is so monumental and crazy.
01:16And, I mean, she just gives us African-American girls and just gives people hope and millennials hope and minorities hope.
01:24And I feel like she's just making a way and making a change for all of us.
01:28When I was reading the book, I loved it, but I didn't see myself as Meg,
01:32because Meg was written as a young Caucasian girl trying to save her father.
01:36So, once I got the audition and got the script, I was like, hmm, this is interesting,
01:41because I didn't see myself in this role.
01:44But now that it's presented to me in that way, I really feel like I can save the world
01:50and I can be, I guess, the role model for girls that look like me and that don't get the opportunity to feel that way.
02:20It's disheartening, because women should have their own opinion and their own choice over their reproductive rights.
02:36And to be from Atlanta and be such a hard rider for Georgia, this is the first time I've been ashamed to be from a place.
02:50I feel like she was my role model.
02:56Like, she is my role model, and to be working with her now is really amazing.
03:00And I feel like she's just a great young woman and just like a great role model to not only me, but to others.
03:20Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry.
03:35I don't know how to. There's no, I don't, I can't.
03:43Mom!
03:50What happened?
03:51I got in.
03:52Yay!
04:11A piece of advice I would just give to young girls or just women, just be yourself and be you and don't let anybody try to alter that or try to conform to what society wants you to do.
