00:00Hello, very good day to you. This week's weather is not as busy as last week's, but nonetheless
00:05there will still be quite a bit going on. Some decent sunshine, some heavy rain, but
00:10also some frost and fog or freezing fog patches too. Starting off though looking at the bigger
00:15picture at the moment and the feature that was storm Bert clearing away towards the northeast,
00:20taking the heaviest rain, the strongest winds with it. But worth bearing in mind there are
00:24still some ongoing flooding issues because we saw such a huge amount of rain and there
00:29is some snow melt to add into that as well. But if we look at Tuesday and actually for
00:33many a lot of dry and sunny weather around. Yes, some showers, particularly first thing
00:37in the southeast, some showers early on, a lot of those though clearing away through
00:41the morning. Elsewhere the showers will be most frequent towards northern western coastal
00:45parts or northwestern coastal parts really. Some inland areas actually avoiding the showers
00:50entirely, many places staying dry. Worth bearing in mind that there will be a few wintry showers
00:56mixed in across northern parts of Scotland. But yes, most areas having a decent amount
01:00of sunshine and the winds will be lighter than on Monday too, except towards the northeast
01:05of Scotland. Here it is still going to be pretty blustery. Temperatures are going to
01:09be on the low side towards the north, so chilly feel to things. Mid single figures for many
01:14places milder towards the south, most places just about getting into double digits. Later
01:20Tuesday and into Wednesday, our attention turns to an area of low pressure that's pushing
01:24in from the Atlantic. Now there is some uncertainty about the track of this feature. Most likely
01:29is that it's going to push its way eastwards along the English Channel. In doing so, bring
01:33some wet and windy weather with the heaviest rain largely confined to southern most counties
01:39of England. However, there is the possibility that it pushes a bit further north, in which
01:44case the heavy rain is going to be a bit more widespread across the southern half of the
01:49UK, and we could see some pretty high totals building up, perhaps 50 to 60 millimetres.
01:54Nonetheless, there's likely to be quite a bit of rain around first thing on Wednesday
01:58morning, especially across the southern southeastern corner of the UK. Some difficult driving conditions,
02:03especially with the strong winds, gales possible in coastal parts. But all of that unsettled
02:07weather pushes away towards the east as we go through the morning. Further north, a very
02:12different story. A lot of dry, bright, sunny weather to be had, although it is going to
02:16be frosty, icy, perhaps even a bit foggy for some as we start the day. And that fog
02:22could take quite a while to clear. As we look at our temperatures, and it's chillier still
02:26compared to Tuesday across northern parts. Some places only just about scraping above
02:31freezing. And in the south, whilst it is milder for some, it is also going to feel a bit unpleasant
02:37with the cloud, the rain and the wind. As we go through Wednesday night and into Thursday,
02:42much of the country will be under the influence of this area of high pressure. The low pressure
02:46that comes through earlier on will be clearing away towards the east. But high pressure at
02:51this time of year, it means, well, we're going to see some clear skies, but that means we're
02:55likely to see our temperatures taking a bit of a dip. And with that, there's going to
02:58be some fairly widespread frost, could be quite harsh frost for some of us, and also
03:02some fog and freezing fog patches too. Because of the time of year, our days are short, our
03:07nights are long, those fog patches could be locally dense and take quite a while to clear
03:12as we go through Thursday. In fact, some places could have that fog lingering through
03:16much of the day, especially towards the east. Further west, things are going to take a bit
03:21of a turn, turning cloud here as we go through the day, the winds picking up and some outbreaks
03:26of rain arriving too, mainly across parts of Northern Ireland, but western fringes of
03:31Scotland, Wales and southwest England, seeing a few outbreaks of rain as we go through towards
03:36the end of the day too. Temperatures towards the east are going to be a little bit on the
03:39low side and further west, turning a bit milder, but again, with the more unsettled
03:44conditions, not exactly feeling pleasant. Later as we go through Thursday into Friday,
03:50we end up with, well, we end up sandwiched in between high pressure towards the east
03:54of us and low pressure towards the west. So we get a bit of a west-east split really.
03:58In the east, that high pressure means it's likely to stay largely dry, some sunshine
04:03around, some fog, some frost perhaps first thing, and some fog could actually linger
04:08through into the afternoon. Further west, more wet and cloudy and blustery weather
04:14to be had here. Outbreaks of rain, some of these could be a little bit on the heavy side.
04:18So yes, the west-east split in terms of the weather and in terms of the temperatures too,
04:22a bit chillier towards the east, a bit milder towards the west. Now as we head towards the
04:27weekend and towards the end of meteorological autumn, that west-east split somewhat continues.
04:33More of a northwest-southeast split by the weekend really, so cloudy, wet and windy towards
04:38the northwest and relatively mild. Meanwhile, towards the southeast, staying drier, couldn't
04:43rule out a few outbreaks of rain pushing their way through. But with that as well, we're
04:47likely to see something a little bit chillier, chillier than average perhaps towards the
04:51southeast, whereas elsewhere it's likely to be a little bit milder.
04:55Whatever your plans are this week, you'll want to make sure you stay up to date with
04:58the forecast, especially with the potential for some hazardous weather with the fog, some
05:03icy stretches and also that heavy rain in the south on Wednesday. I'll see you again
05:07soon. Bye bye.
05:08Bye bye.
