00:11Arab Emirates to personally extend his heartfelt thanks to its head of state and other government

00:16officials for the mass pardon of 143 Filipino immigrant workers and the help shared to the

00:22country's typhoon victims recently.

00:29The one-day working visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to the United Arab Emirates

00:33kicked off today.

00:35At 6 o'clock in the morning Philippine time, the president together with First Lady Luis

00:38Araneta Marcos arrived in the UAE.

00:41This afternoon, the chief executive met with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed

00:45bin Zayed Al Nayyan.

00:47In a post on his ex-account, the UAE president shared his meeting and discussions with President

00:52Marcos Jr.

00:53The two leaders talked about deepening cooperation between the UAE and the Philippines in key

00:57areas including economy, trade and sustainability.

01:00He also emphasized the UAE's readiness to strengthen ties with the Philippines for the

01:05mutual benefit of the citizens of both nations.

01:08It is also expected that several cultural cooperation agreements will be signed between

01:11the National Commission for Culture and the Arts led by Chairperson Vic Manalo and the

01:16UAE Ministry of Culture witnessed by First Lady Luis Araneta Marcos.

01:20The president is also set to meet with UAE Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness

01:25Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

01:27Recently, the president spoke with the UAE leader in a phone call where he expressed

01:31gratitude for the pardon of 143 OFWs in the UAE.

01:35The president also recognized the humanitarian work of the UAE, especially in helping the

01:40Philippines following recent calamities.

01:43Former DILG Secretary Benher Abalos, who has close ties with the UAE royal family, is also

01:48part of the president's delegation.

01:50DNR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga is expected to hold meetings with her counterparts

01:55to discuss agreements on steps to prevent ocean waste.

01:58The president, through the PCO, has already apologized to the Filipino community in the

02:02UAE, saying he would not be able to visit them, as he will immediately return to the

02:07Philippines to personally oversee relief and reconstruction activities in communities affected

02:12by recent typhoons.

02:13Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulia, and Agrarian

02:18Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III have been appointed to the caretaker committee

02:22while the chief executive is abroad.
