00:00I called him and we sat down and had a one-on-one conversation so
00:04I could tell him what to expect from me and also what I expected from him.
00:09And we had a mutual understanding from the get-go, obviously my approach,
00:14my demeanor is different than some people, but
00:17it's always meant to bring out the best in him.
00:20And it's pretty direct person, so
00:21I think that can come off different ways of different people.
00:24But he's not soft, which I appreciate.
00:27Me and soft people sometimes don't always see eye to eye, get along.
00:30But I think he likes being challenged, likes being coached.
00:33Definitely all about encouraging,
00:34uplifting our guys when it comes to doing things the right way.
00:36But I think it's about finding a balance about, we've made some great improvements,
00:40some great strides.
00:41But being good is not to be confused with being good enough.
00:45So I can be better, he can be better, the entire group can be better.
00:47So I think it's about finding that balance.
00:49And also with each individual player, it was very obvious, he had no fear at all.
00:54Which is, I think, the way we wanna have him be able to play.
00:57I think about being aggressive and taking calculated risk.
01:00So aggressive is not being reckless, it's two different things.
01:05So not putting the ball in jeopardy, he's done a really good job taking care of
01:07the football.
01:08Obviously making some tight window throws,
01:10which is why you get drafted number one overall to make those big plays.
01:14And I think, again, when it comes to end of the game, end of the half,
01:18he's delivered in a big way.
01:20Sometimes goes unnoticed because of the result, which I get.
01:23But that's a rookie quarterback who, in my opinion,
01:26has the extracted surface of how good he can be.
01:28And it's my job, my focus, to continue to try to find ways to make him the best he
01:32can be, hold him accountable, but also the entire group.
01:35So it's not just about him, it's not a one man show.
01:37Myself as a coach, or him as a quarterback.
