00:00There has been a lot of focus, and rightly so, on the exciting transformation taking place here in the city centre.
00:08But our regeneration plans go far beyond the city centre.
00:12Let me take you to Attercliffe to show you the work that's taking place there.
00:23For centuries, the east end of the city has been the beating heart of our industry.
00:29Today, it's home to many businesses, but the area is changing fast and there are big plans for Attercliffe.
00:36Construction is underway at Attercliffe Waterside Housing Development.
00:41The project will bring brownfield land here and on either side of the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal back into use.
00:49Across 23 acres, 1,000 new zero-carbon homes will be built by Situ, an award-winning developer with a track record of creating successful neighbourhoods here in Sheffield and in Leeds.
01:03Phase 1 of the project will provide 362 new homes and will also see existing buildings in the area converted to provide new workspaces as well as arts and leisure facilities.
01:18Attercliffe is also home to the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, where construction is due to begin in early 2025 for the first ever National Centre for Child Health Technology.
01:31And we are also going to be breathing new life back into the old Adelphi Cinema.
01:36This much-loved Grade 2 listed building will be brought back into use as a key part of our plans to boost Attercliffe High Street.
01:44Attercliffe has got so much going for it. Just 10 minutes from the city centre, the area is on the tram route and has got great access to the River Don and to the canal.
01:56Together with our partners, we are working hard to bring in new investment, create new homes and new jobs to make sure that Attercliffe has a bright future.
02:06Our city is changing and Attercliffe is a key part of our plans.
