00:00Kapuso, a few weeks before Christmas, 500 families in Santa Cruz, Manila lost their homes because of a fire.

00:09Two people were injured.

00:11A family was about to give birth to their soon-to-be-born child because they had to evacuate their home.

00:17Let's hear from Jomara Presto.

00:22This is the fire that the firefighters of Barangay 310 in Santa Cruz, Manila are trying to put out.

00:29The fire started at 9 p.m. last night and was quickly put out by five alarms.

00:34This means that the firefighters will not be able to put out the 20 trucks that need to be put out.

00:39The residents carried their belongings one by one.

00:43Others were not able to be saved except for the images of San Tonino and Nazareno.

00:48Some were the first to try to save their pets.

00:52According to the barangay, they were surprised because the fire that started at the third floor of a house in the playground compound quickly spread.

01:01We were not able to bring the fire extinguisher because the fire spread quickly.

01:06It spread around. It started here in Bungad, near the barangay, in Bantay's house.

01:12We were brought to the LRC.

01:14The fire also spread near the facility of Manila City Jail.

01:19Some of the people of the Prime of Liberty who were trapped here were rescued.

01:23According to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penalty, they immediately transferred hundreds of PDLs to other parts of the city jail.

01:30The Manila City Jail was not affected by the fire, said the Bureau of Fire Protection.

01:34But they also put it inside to pump water.

01:37The road is very narrow so that we can get the focal points of the fire.

01:46At the same time, there were a lot of people. We were blocked when we entered.

01:54No one was left behind or killed. Two women were injured.

02:00As a senior citizen who had a second-degree burn in various parts of the body,

02:05according to the BFP data, around 500 families lost their homes.

02:10The estimated value of the lost property is more than P3.7 million.

02:18Nanay Michelle was the only one who came home from work when the fire broke out.

02:31The BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire.

02:34For now, the Manila Department of Social Welfare is listing the names of the residents who were burned.

02:41According to the barangay, several residents are being evacuated and are claiming that they were burned

02:46in order to get help from the government.
