00:00Counseling, legal assistance, and other projects against gender-based violence
00:05are being supported by an international women's service organization
00:10along with the 18 Days Campaign to End Violence Against Women by the government.
00:15For more details on this, let's watch this.
00:21In commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women,
00:26Zonta, an international women's service organization, launched the 16 Days of Activism
00:33to fight gender-based violence and protect the human rights of women and children.
00:41This program is part of the 18 Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women by the government.
00:56There are many activities now. We're having programs all over the Philippines
01:04because this is international. And we hope that by this activism, we can help women.
01:12The group is actively organizing seminars and workshops to provide information
01:18about gender-based violence and strategies to fight it.
01:22They will continue to provide support and services to victims of violence
01:28including counseling and legal assistance.
01:31Under my area, we have 19 clubs. They have their own projects, activities, like what?
01:37They have forums and talk about the rights of the women and children.
01:42And they will also give free medical advice on those who cannot approach the legal process
01:50or fear of approaching them.
01:53According to the 2022 National Demographic and Health Survey of the Philippine Statistics Authority,
01:5817.5% of Filipino women aged 15 to 49 experienced physical, sexual, and emotional violence
02:09from their intimate partner. That's why the group is striving to end it.
02:16Statistics show that a higher rate of violence are being done on the members,
02:24on women of the marginalized sectors. And their suffering is not just physical harm,
02:35but also all forms of psychological and mental pain
02:41that victims of domestic violence experience.
02:46This year, we should remember that the Philippines should lose our reputation
02:55that we are number one in terms of online sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
03:04Through this campaign, Zonta International
03:08continues to spread the message that violence has no place in our society.
03:14Let's fight gender-based violence together and continue advocacy
03:20for a safe and fair community for all.
