00:00What do you think about the investment in Sicily?
00:08Maire decides to invest in Sicily, specifically here in Catania, and aims, as you have stated, to enhance this territory.
00:17Yes, I think that we have to start again from the territories. Territories like this, a precious territory, where there are universities and high-level excellences.
00:30Our group is present all over the world. We have engineering departments in India, more than 3,000 people.
00:37We have asked ourselves why we are not able, also in our country, in some territories, to help those territories not to depopulate.
00:47That is, those talents that remain in the territories, but that can be useful for their territory, but above all also in a group like ours, as a multinational that works all over the world,
00:59to export engineering talents all over the world, from Sicily and Catania, where, as I said at the beginning, there is a pole of excellence, which is the university,
01:11and that the link between a company that looks to the future, like ours, and technology, and the new generation that is here, works, and we believe that it is a winning choice.
01:25You referred to the university. Do you plan to hire more than 200 engineers and technicians, therefore, in addition to investing in the territory, also to prevent a brain leak?
01:36That's exactly the issue. We have skills in Italy, at the university, they are distributed throughout the territory, even with specializations,
01:48and then we made this choice to say, we map, we see where there are really these skills.
01:55Here, as I said before, there are, so we want to avoid that these brains somehow emigrate, first maybe to the north, and worse, to the west.
02:07And so we want to leave them in their homes, in their homes, in their families, but at the same time, with the technologies that we have today, we can work remotely,
02:18we are connected in all cities around the world, we can carry out a project in connection from here, from Milan, from India, in the Emirates.
02:27So, how to say, we put technology to use, but which gives back to the territory.
02:34The challenge of the future is the ecological transition. You speak of green chemistry, so the future of Maire is green.
02:42Yes, we are working on a process, as we know, there is a very strong process on which we are interpreters of decarbonization.
02:52We have deep roots, the Maire group, Techrimont, Stamicarbo, we have brands within the organization that are now born from the early 1900s,
03:03so very deep roots in chemistry, we are world leaders in the production of polymers, almost a third of the market, as well as in the sector of fertilizers, more than 50%.
03:15So, thanks to those skills, we said, we have to do it, we have to reproduce the same products, because they serve, the same products, whether they are fertilizers, whether they are fuels, in a sustainable way.
03:29So, from here a process started at the beginning of the 2010s, and today, we gave life in 2018 to Neschem, today we are in reality,
03:38consider that more than 25% of our results now come from the green transition.
03:46So, we count in our strategic plan, which we announced in March, to reach more than 50% in the next 10 years.
