00:00The Department of Science and Technology is pleased with the addition of a budget to the Bicameral Conference Committee

00:07where a large part of it was allocated for hope,

00:11so that the disaster risk reduction and management in the country will be strengthened.

00:26And there was a lot of hope in maintaining the situation of the typhoon

00:30so that it can be prepared and give the public a warning of its possible effects.

00:34And in convening the Bicameral Conference Committee for the 2025 National Budget,

00:39Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri pushed for the addition of almost a billion pesos budget

00:44for the Department of Science and Technology.

00:46According to Zubiri, from the 26 billion pesos fund this year,

00:50how did he think he will raise it?

00:52To 29 billion pesos.

00:54It is higher than the 28.4 billion pesos budget in the National Expenditure Program.

00:59And a large part of it will go to hope

01:02to support the facility, equipment, and maintenance program.

01:06We have to stop blaming hope for no hope.

01:09We have to help them.

01:10That's what I said on the floor.

01:12If you were there, I said let's not blame hope for everything.

01:16Let's give them the tools to be able to, you know, tell the weather effectively.

01:22And yes, this is important to strengthen the disaster risk reduction management of the country.

01:27What we are building is the redundancy of the Doppler radar.

01:31Sometimes the Doppler radar breaks down or gets old.

01:37And the technology is also changing.

01:39So we need to regularly replace or maintain our Doppler radar.

01:44And yes, the equipment is important,

01:47such as monitoring the rain to give a warning.

01:50Subirin believes that science and technology is the heart of every country.

01:54In this regard, the DOST will approve an additional budget for the facility.

01:58While Subirin hopes that it will not move anymore.

02:01And yes, the Bicameral Conference Committee will open an additional fund for the facility.

02:06Also included in the proposed addition of the budget is the Philippine Science High School

02:10where a new school will be built in the Negros Island region.

02:13Aside from this, the Phibox budget is also planned to be raised.

02:17The Philippine Textile Research Institute for its promotion of local textile innovation,

02:21the Advanced Science and Technology Institute for its Artificial Intelligence Center,

02:25and others.
