01 December - National weather forecast presented by Marco Petagna
Transcript
00:00Hello, good morning. Here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Pitania.
00:04We've got fairly mild air in place still across the UK at the moment, all thanks to a south
00:08to south-westerly air stream. But notice over the next few days, low pressure starts to
00:11pull away to the north-east of the UK. That allows our air to be drawn down from the north,
00:15those blue colours indicating a drop in temperature, at least during the first part of the coming
00:19week. Looking at things in more detail for the rest of the day now though, we've got
00:23bands of rain working their way in from the west, moving eastwards across all parts through
00:26the day. Some of the rain turning quite heavy at times, albeit interspersed by some bright
00:30or sunny spells, and quite a blustery picture, particularly to start the day, and especially
00:34towards the north and north-west, those winds gradually easing down as we go through into
00:38the afternoon. A pretty mild day once again for the time of year, temperatures widely
00:41in double figures, peaking at 12 degrees in the north, up to 14, possibly locally even
00:4615 degrees down towards the south, 15 will be 59 in Fahrenheit. As we go through the
00:50evening into the overnight period, those outbreaks of rain continue to work their way in from
00:54the west, again, some of those bands could be quite heavy, interspersed by some clearer
00:58spells. By the time we get to Monday morning, notice some colder air starting to move in
01:02from the north into Scotland, showers starting to turn wintry here, especially across the
01:06hilltops. Could see a touch of frost too by Monday morning across the northern areas,
01:10down to 3 or 4 degrees in a few spots, but still mild down towards the south at 7 or
01:148 degrees. As for Monday, well the new working week gets off to a pretty unsettled start
01:18once again, across England and Wales, quite a cloudy picture, cloud moving down from the
01:22north and west, outbreaks of rain developing here at times, but that colder air across
01:26Scotland makes inroads across northern England into parts of Northern Ireland, the northerly
01:30breeze really digging in by that stage, and those showers turning increasingly wintry,
01:34especially across the high ground in Scotland. By the afternoon on Monday, temperatures no
01:38better than 4 or 5 degrees across parts of Scotland there, several degrees below where
01:41they should be for the time of year, but still relatively mild down towards the south at
01:4510 or 11 Celsius, 11 in London is 52 in Fahrenheit. That's pretty much it for me, but of course
