00:00I think the meaning of the day is to pass on the values that we have learned in a life of sport and a responsibility that we have as athletes to do this, to leave a legacy, to pass on to young people what sport can give,
00:21I think there is nothing more beautiful for a young person to practice sport, it is really too important to avoid not talking about it and not stimulating them to do it, to practice it and to grow with sport.
00:35I have always been convinced that growing with sport gives you a lot, it makes you live emotions, it makes you share emotions, to grow in the good moments, in the most difficult moments, but it is precisely those moments, especially those difficult ones, that serve to grow.
00:52We talk about sport, we teach young people what sport has given us and we try to pass it on. It is a very important day to do all this, I am pleased to be here and to have been invited.
01:06Certainly, after a generation, several generations, especially in the male part, where we have done well, we have reached the end of our careers, in many athletes, so the generational changes are never easy and this is being seen.
01:21Fortunately, there are our women who carry on the whole system of victories and this is a very positive thing. Of course, we must try to help this generational change and we hope it happens as soon as possible.
01:39I must say that this summer, while I was at home quite calm and my colleagues in Ghiacciaio woke up at 4 in the morning, I did not miss the chair. But in reality, when the races started, there was obviously a bit of melancholy, because the emotion that competition gives you is unique and repeatable, but I left with serenity and knowing that I had done my best, that it was in my possibilities.
02:05I hope, instead, that there are other athletes who continue to make us emotional at home or behind the scenes of a World Cup race. It's nice, it's nice to see from home.
02:15You never stop learning, certainly. Let's say that there is a bit of work in progress. Certainly, the world of sport is my world, so we will see some role in time. There will also be the Winter Olympics in Italy soon, so there will certainly be an opportunity to talk about sport and to participate in many initiatives. But now we are here, we are here today and I am pleased to be here.
02:45I have to say that, given the Milan-Cortina event last week, there is a bit of regret for not being there, for not being able to represent Italy again in Italy.
02:58But it is also the beauty of being able to take advantage of an event like this to promote sport, which is growing in Italy, but I don't think it is enough. We must always do a little more to help the culture of sport and make younger people grow with sport. An event like this is an incredible opportunity to make many people fall in love with sport.
