00:00I went along to the Koorie Inn in George Street as part of Edinburgh's Christmas
00:04to try out Innocent Gunn's new Winter Warmer drink. It's authentic Scottish
00:10festive drink made by infusing Innocent Gunn original with Monkey Shoulder
00:14Scotch whisky, winter spices and orange zest.
00:20Well let's see what all the fuss is about.
00:24That is lovely, it's got spices, orange, beer and whisky obviously, oh it's got a light kick to it as well, it really is a Winter Warmer. Cheers!
00:42I also spoke to Innocent Gunn founder and master brewer Dougal Sharp about this
00:47Winter Warmer drink which is reminiscent of a hot toddy from growing up.
00:54Obviously it's Christmas and everyone seems to think mulled wine is a thing to drink at Christmas, but if you actually try mulled wine, it tastes pretty crap.
01:04So for many years I've been thinking what could we do, because obviously we don't make wine in Scotland, we make beer, we make whisky, we make all amazing drinks, but no wine.
01:14So I got the team together at Innocent Gunn and we were like, what are we going to do to sort this problem out once and for all,
01:21to end the legacy of furry teeth and purple tongues and big moustaches of red wine dripping, you know this sort of mulled wine experience that you get, which is never any good.
01:33So we came up with the Mulled Winter Warmer, which is basically a mixture of Innocent Gunn original beers, our flagship beer, with some beautiful Monkey Shoulder whisky from William Grant,
01:46and then we add some sugar, some orange, some spices, and we mull it, and the result is absolutely superb and it is selling like crazy.
01:55We are selling pounds over the markets and people are really loving it, because it's actually doing something that mulled wine doesn't do, which is it makes you really happy.
