00:09Edinburgh School named among Scotland's best by 2025 Parent Power Schools Guide.
00:14An Edinburgh State School has been named amongst the best in Scotland, while three of the city's top independent schools won awards for academic excellence.
00:22It comes as the Sunday Times Schools Guide 2025, called Parent Power, named the top performing and highest achieving schools across the country.
00:31Published annually, it is widely considered to be the definitive guide to secondary schools.
00:36Barrow Muir High School is the only Edinburgh State School to appear in the top 10 in Scotland, coming in at number 4 on the list.
00:43Patients hail fantastic news of go-ahead for Eye Hospital.
00:49Patients who campaigned for Edinburgh's promised new Eye Hospital say it's fantastic that the Scottish Government's budget included a pledge to fund the project.
00:57But they said the priority now was to make sure the long-awaited hospital, to be sited alongside the Royal Infirmary at Little France, is built as soon as possible.
01:06Finance Secretary Shona Robison's announcement yesterday, as she presented the Government's proposed budget to the Scottish Parliament,
01:13comes despite the two-year freeze on major capital spending imposed last year, which halted all work on the new hospital,
01:20due to replace the current Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Chalmers Street, which was declared unfit for purpose in 2014.
01:28Edinburgh Santa Fun Run returns this weekend at Prince's Street Gardens.
01:34The popular Edinburgh Santa Fun Run returns to West Prince's Street Gardens this weekend,
01:39with hundreds signed up to take part in the annual festive fundraiser, organised by local charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
01:48Runners will dress up as Santa and complete two laps of the gardens to raise money for children living with life-threatening illnesses.
