00:00You ever been hung up on in an interview, Keefe?
00:01Uh, no, I don't think so.
00:04I know you have.
00:05Danny Amendola hung up on me.
00:06I was there for that.
00:07Uh, let's see.
00:08Let's not get that streak going.
00:09Nope.
00:10Hunter Henry, Patriots tight end.
00:11Joining us here on Jones and Keefe, it's Patriots Monday.
00:14It's brought to you by Shaw's and Star Market.
00:16Perfecting the art of fresh.
00:17Hunter Henry, how we doing this week?
00:18Doing good, guys.
00:19Now, you ever hung up on any interviews?
00:22You're not.
00:23That's not you.
00:24No.
00:25You're not doing that.
00:26Hung up on interviews?
00:27Yeah.
00:28I don't think so.
00:30Good.
00:31Don't start now.
00:32There was a media member in New York who cut it very, very short.
00:36He was not enjoying the line of questioning.
00:39How was the bye week?
00:40What'd you do on the bye week, Hunter?
00:41Uh, just spent some time with the family.
00:44My wife.
00:45It's my birthday this weekend, so just spent some time with family.
00:50Happy birthday.
00:51Did you, uh, anything extra for that?
00:53Big cake?
00:54Anything like that?
00:55Uh, yeah.
00:56My wife did it right.
00:57My wife did it right.
00:58Uh, but just kept it private, not anything too crazy.
01:02All right.
01:03Now, I'm curious.
01:04Is it worse to have the first bye week of the year, like in week four or five, or is
01:10it worse to have it at the end of the year like you guys did this year?
01:13Probably worse to have, uh, the first one.
01:16Yeah.
01:17The first one?
01:18Yeah, yeah.
01:19Okay.
01:20You know, I read over the weekend, you guys were the only team, there were a bunch of
01:21teams on bye this week.
01:22You were the only team in the NFL to have a practice this week.
01:25Maybe you got to yell at Gerard about that.
01:26You guys were the only ones who actually had a practice this week.
01:28Uh, yeah.
01:29Uh, it is what it is.
01:30So, um, you know, uh, Mayo, you know, wanted us to practice and continue to try to improve
01:39and get better.
01:40Um, you know, he, he makes those decisions and we got to go out there and continue to
01:43get better.
01:44How much, uh, football did you watch over the bye week?
01:47College and NFL?
01:48Uh, I watched a little bit, not, I wouldn't say a crazy amount, but definitely watched
01:52some.
01:53You know, we were just asking, uh, Christian Gonzalez about this, but the college football
01:57playoff for the first year, going to 12 teams, you got four with a bye conference winners
02:02and the rest of it fills out.
02:03Do you like that?
02:04Just as a fan, the, the 12 team playoff, I think it's added some drama for sure.
02:09Um, and also like, I just felt like in college, it just made, um, you know, I feel like in
02:15college, if you lost one game, it was like the end of the end of the year, sometimes
02:19for some of those top teams.
02:21So it definitely added some drama.
02:24I've appreciated it a little bit more in college.
02:26Um, just that sense of it that like, you can, you know, maybe get in with three, three losses
02:32now and, um, you know, two losses, you can still get in.
02:35So I think that definitely added some kind of drama to things.
02:39Staying in college.
02:40We're talking to Patriots tight end Hunter Henry, uh, Bill Belichick came out last week
02:44has interviewed, uh, with the university of North Carolina.
02:47Could you see him coaching in college?
02:51Um, I think it will be definitely a different, uh, role for him for sure.
02:54Um, but you know, I, you know, Bill's obviously a tremendous coach, have so much respect for
02:59him.
03:00Um, and so I think he could get it done wherever he, wherever he, you know, his feet are wherever
03:05he's coaches.
03:06You know, the college landscape has changed so much with NIL and I know there was always
03:11jokes about college players getting paid or whatever, but now they for sure are getting
03:15paid.
03:16Can you, what would that be like?
03:18If you, if you put yourself back in that situation, whether it was you or some of your teammates
03:22in college, you know, 18, 19, 21 years old, making a couple million bucks, like how would
03:28you be able to wrap your mind around that?
03:30Hey, I probably would have been pretty crazy 18, 18, uh, 19 year old.
03:36Me would have been, that would have been wild, especially living in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
03:40Um, you know, a million dollars goes a long, a long way, uh, place like that.
03:44So, uh, yeah, it would have been pretty wild.
03:47Uh, me and my brother is like, we talk about that a lot.
03:49Okay.
03:50If a million goes a long way, how about 15 years, 765 million?
03:55That's what Juan Soto got from the Mets.
03:58How do you feel about major league baseball contracts compared to contracts in the NFL?
04:02The disparity there?
04:03Uh, yeah, it was pretty wild.
04:06Uh, congrats to him for sure.
04:10Um, you know, I'm always happy to see someone get a big contract.
04:13Um, they, yeah, pretty wild.
04:16But it was, uh, definitely something interesting to see, uh, happy for him.
04:22You know, what are the challenges for the final four weeks of the season, making sure
04:26all the guys are still, you know, a hundred percent locked in after you've been eliminated
04:30from the playoffs, but obviously have to finish the season as strong as he can.
04:33Oh yeah.
04:34I mean, there's, why would you not be locked in, man?
04:37We get to play, um, a child's game for Kings Ransom.
04:41So, I mean, this is, uh, this is what, you know, this is an awesome sport.
04:46We've all played this since we were little, um, and we're getting to play in the NFL.
04:50We get to play four more games guaranteed, you know, you never know, um, when your last
04:55game will ever be.
04:56So, I think that's, you always got to take it game by game and, um, attack each week
05:00like that.
05:01Um, with that mindset, man, we get to play some good football teams on the stretch too
05:04to kind of challenge ourselves.
05:06Okay.
05:07He's Patriots tight end Hunter Henry, joins us every Patriots Monday here on Jones and
05:10Keefe.
05:11Hunter, we appreciate the time.
05:12We'll talk to you next week.
05:13All right.
05:14Thank you, Hunter.
05:15All right.
05:16Hunter Henry here on a Patriots Monday, uh, coming off the, uh, the birthday, the birthday
05:19boy there.
05:20Birthday boy.
05:21All right.
05:22Pretty good.
05:23Probably should have been on my radar.
05:24What?
05:25You're going to send him a gift or something?
05:26No, I just say it would have been something worth saying to him.
05:29It doesn't matter if you know what his birthday is.
05:31It would have been good to know going into the interview.
05:33He's uh, he's, he's 30 now.
05:35I should have had more.
05:36It's another thing that should have been a top of mind for me.
05:3930.
05:41Wife did it.
05:42Right.
05:43He said, what does that mean?
05:44I don't know.
05:45I was afraid to ask quite frankly.
05:46A lot of texts, by the way.
05:473793.
05:48Oh no, it's not.
05:49I have a couple of ideas.
05:50617-779-7937.
05:51A lot of texts.
05:52Did he, did he hang up on Gresham for, I didn't mean to ask about, did he hang up on Gresham
05:57for you?
05:58I don't know.
05:59Oh, I actually think he might've one time.
06:00Wow.
06:01So when I asked that, that was just off the rip because he, he sounded a touch defensive.
06:07Why did he hang up on those guys?
06:09I don't remember.
06:10Okay.
06:11All right.
06:12We'll try it.
06:13We'll try it.
06:14If any of the listeners remember, let us know.
06:15Multiple texts about that.
06:16And so he did sound a little.
06:17He was like, I don't mean, huh?
06:18Me?
06:19Never.
06:20Definitely not this time slot.
06:21Nope.
06:22Didn't happen last year.
06:23That wasn't you guys, was it?
06:24They don't know.
06:25He doesn't know.
06:26He has no idea.
06:27He's like, I probably, yeah, I hung up on you.
06:28What are you asking about?
06:29Interesting.
06:30Yeah.
