00:00Season 1, as far as its musical representation is concerned, we wanted to make sure we continue
00:10that honesty, we continue that in-depth understanding of music because our audience is a very intelligent
00:17audience of Bandish Bandits.
00:18They want us to not just work on a surface level, they want us to go in-depth like we
00:24did in Season 1.
00:25In fact, in Season 2, we've gone even further with Gharana music and now that Tamanna has
00:30gone to the music school, we have to represent the music school well enough.
00:34We are not looking at western music as just pop music like in Season 1, Tamanna's world
00:39was just pop.
00:40This time, you'll hear other genres and there are reasons for that.
00:43Every episode, you will see construction and deconstruction of music and songs.
00:48There are 17 new songs that we've brought out in this album, there are some more that
00:52we haven't come out with, which you will see in the season and everything has dramatic
00:57value to it.
00:58It is not just music for music's sake.
01:00Each character has its own journey as far as their interpersonal relationship is concerned
01:05but also what music means to them.
01:09For all the people that are sitting with me, for Sheeba, for all the characters from Tamanna's
01:14world, they're all dealing with their musical philosophies in their own unique ways.
01:20So that for me was so important and inherent to the telling of Bandish Bandits that that
01:26responsibility we wanted to take forward in Season 2.
01:50If I confine it to a sentence, I feel Radhe spent the arc of Season 1 understanding his
02:13gharana.
02:14He's going to spend the arc of Season 2 understanding his ghar.
02:18I'm lucky that I got to play that character.
02:24He's going through so many things at once, whether it's the financial crisis he was handling
02:31in Season 1, his father's behaviour towards him, how to support his son, and in the end
02:42of the season, he has to deal with his wife, how he's dealing with alcoholism, how he's
02:51trying to find the space within himself, and how he's dealing with his wife's personal
03:00life.
03:01So I think there are a lot of things to explore.
03:07The first season ended with Virah, of course, and now in the trailer you see that Mohini
03:13and Digvijay are singing together on stage, and that is one part of it, and in the same
03:23trailer you see that Digvijay is saying to Mohini that agar tumse bhi gharana bachana
03:31So I think this indicates the drama that Digvijay and Mohini both are going through, plus Digvijay
03:43of course has his own journey, ki yeh mera gharana hai, and all that, so a lot of drama.
03:50The way they have written the second season, it is I think a very unique writing for a
03:58web show format, because not only our characters who were there in the first season, but also
04:05there are so many new characters, like Divya Dutta's character, and all the characters
04:09from Tamanna's world, it is very difficult to have such interesting characters, and to
04:18take them on a different level, so when I read it for the first time, that is exactly
04:24what I thought, that oh, I had not expected to have the second season to be at this level,
04:33so it is a fantastic writing I must say.
04:41I have always said that Digvijay's character is very close to Karna's character in Mahabharata,
04:48that something has been taken away from him for no fault of his, and that is exactly what
04:54he is fighting for, for his legitimate position, though he is illegitimate child, in that sense,
05:03so I think more than obsession, it is the kind of angst that he feels that what was
05:15mine is taken away, though I am equally talented, and I think that remains, and now in this
05:22season, I think it is much more, in a way, and at the same time, he also feels for his
05:29brothers and Mohini of course.
05:33I love that pause before Mohini, and that's very inconsiderate, considering her husband
05:38is sitting right next to her.
05:40Where is he?
05:42Where is he?
05:44I don't know what he thinks about his brothers.
05:46He takes a pause before Mohini and says, where is Mohini?
05:56That is why I am saying that so many conflicts at the same time can be played, and as an
06:02actor, it is very challenging to find those moments, and as an actor, there are a lot of
06:13things that we talk about, and as soon as I read the script, I told him that separation
06:21should be answered.
06:23So separation is answered.
06:25So, separation is answered, that is there, and I used to play flute a little, and I am
06:33very happy that Anand has included it in the script, and in a beautiful way,
06:42it has become a part of life.
06:44So, that was a very interesting thing for me.
06:54Very honestly, I keep saying this as a joke, but I mean it deeply, that every time, like
06:58before having done season one, I always felt like I am very hardworking, I am very passionate
07:02about cinema, and this is what I want to do.
07:04Until I met Radhe, until I saw that world, until I saw what it actually means to work
07:10hard, what it actually means to dedicate yourself to the art, what it actually means
07:14to surrender.
07:16So, definitely just to see that in that character, and then have the privilege to play that part
07:22and go through those experiences for that character, I think that has given me a lot
07:26as an artist, very, very honestly speaking.
07:28But the most important thing that Bandish Bandits has given me is music, you know, and
07:32the world of music.
07:34And I have always had music in my life, but I was a listener, and for some reason, today
07:38I am more than a listener, I am definitely not a singer or instrumentalist or anything
07:42like that right now, but I feel like I have taken a step above from just being a listener
07:48to being a part of the world that is so vast.
07:52Even without being a musician, I still feel so deeply connected to the world of music
07:56right now, thanks to this show and having done two seasons of it, that I really think
08:00that every five years or ten years in my life, I should do one project where that character
08:06is a different kind of an artist, because that will just keep imbibing that love and
08:10passion and that dedication back and just bringing it back to me, you know, like hopefully
08:14that will just help me as an actor.
08:16Fully rewire my soul, rewire my senses.
08:18It needed some rewiring.
08:20It did need some rewiring, it's true.
08:22It did.
08:24It desperately needed some rewiring.
08:26His parents are thanking him.
08:28That is true.
08:30But that's so true.
08:32It's okay, you're welcome.
08:36You're welcome.
