00:00The government is also preparing the possible worst-case scenario of the eruption of Mount Canlaon.
00:06The possibility of a flood if there is a rain in Negros continues to be monitored.
00:12Patrick De Jesus, for Detailes.
00:17The government is preparing the worst-case scenario following the eruption of Mount Canlaon.
00:23This is the time when the volcano's alert was raised to level 4, which is currently at level 3.
00:28From 86,000, it will reach 139,000 individuals that need to be evacuated if the danger zone is extended to 8 to 10 kilometers.
00:40Based on the recommendation of PBOX, we are doing already a worst-case scenario planning,
00:48wherein our planning will reach up to 10 kilometers.
00:52That will require additional evacuation centers, additional food assistance, and the likes.
01:00After the eruption, they will not return immediately.
01:03We still have to assess what happened in the areas that were hit by the worst-case scenario or the very violent eruption.
01:12Currently, almost 50% or more than 39,000 individuals have been evacuated in the 6-kilometer danger zone.
01:20Most of them were evacuated from La Castellana, La Carlota City, and Canlaon City.
01:25Mandatory evacuation continues for the remaining residents.
01:29We have to move away from danger.
01:32Because if there are no more people in the 6, even if it erupts again and again, no one will die.
01:38As for the ashfall, there are solutions for that.
01:42But the pyroclastic materials, the density, the so-called PDC, that is dangerous.
01:49That is why we need to evacuate the people in the 6 kilometers.
01:53And if we need 8, 10, we will do that.
01:56That is our goal.
01:58There should be zero casualty.
02:00There is a warning that is given.
02:02We don't want that while it erupts, we will be rescued.
02:06Although there is still no indication to raise the alert,
02:10PBOX strictly monitors the activity of Vulcan Canlaon,
02:15which erupted in 31 volcanic earthquakes after it erupted.
02:19The possibility of ashfall is also monitored if there is rain in Negros.
02:24Explosive eruption may be followed by similar explosive eruptions on short term,
02:29which may generate density currents within the 6-kilometer radius area on the summit.
02:34When it rains, our volcanic materials on the slopes of the volcano may be immobilized as ashes.
02:44This is very important, especially now that it is raining in Caglaon.
02:49DSWD is now distributing food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and other aid to the evacuees.
02:5787,000 family food packs are also stockpiled in the field offices of DSWD in Region 6 and 7.
03:05The production of our family food packs is still non-stop,
03:10and non-stop delivery also of these family food packs.
