00:00For the one hundred and twenty-fifth time, it's the Army
00:06Navy game on Saturday between the Black Knights and the
00:11Midshipmen. Our active member of the army. That's Mark Zinna
00:15joining us here on this Thursday on the early line on
00:19Sports Grid. You know where his allegiance lies but really for
00:23all of us, our allegiance lies to this game. A rivalry between
00:28two bitter foes on the football field on Saturday and then
00:31teammates off of it for the foreseeable future. Zinno, as
00:35we look at the odds, six and a half points spread in favor of
00:39the cadets. A total that is as high as we have seen in the
00:43Army Navy game since 2019. Standing at thirty-nine and a
00:48half. And Zinno, DRS made mention of this earlier. This
00:52is not the Army Navy game of the past few years. In fact,
00:55this is not the Army Navy game we have ever seen. We have two
00:59great football teams squaring off in Landover on Saturday
01:04afternoon. Eleven wins for Army. Eight wins for Navy.
01:08Nineteen combined wins between the two programs. The most we
01:13have ever seen for both teams entering an Army Navy game.
01:17What will the result look like on Saturday afternoon at
01:22Northwest Stadium? Well, I mean, Army's going to win the
01:27game. I mean, I'm just being objective about that but also
01:30passionate. That's it. Them covering the numbers of
01:32different conversation. Now, when this thing opened at seven,
01:35I can't tell you how excited I got and prayed that it went to
01:38seven and a half because if it had, boys, and I'm looking at
01:42dead in the eye, I would have hammered the midshipmen like
01:44you would not have believed. Period. Look, there's an
01:48interesting situation here that's never materialized
01:50that we have to account for. You know what Navy did last
01:53week? Nada. They got ready for Army. You know what Army did
01:56last week? They played a football game. Pretty
01:59emotional one too, right? Uh a game against Tulane that they
02:03were an underdog in. Little chip on their shoulder. I don't
02:07know that Army can get back up again for another game. Like
02:13Navy has had nothing to do but salivated this opportunity and
02:15get ready for it. Army just played a game. They know what
02:18you know what it does to your body. These guys had a
02:20recuperate. They had to get ready. Now, they've gotta go
02:22install a game plan despite the fact they know the opponent
02:25very well. On a shorter week and go play Navy again. I said
02:30going into the whole situation. I stayed off the Army Tulane
02:32game in the AAC. I said, you know what? If Army loses this
02:36game, I'll come back and I'll play him the next week because
02:39I believe that they'll be ticked off that they lost the
02:41game and they really wanna take it out on Navy. However, the
02:44celebration, the elation of winning their first ever
02:47conference title, if they had won that game, I was gonna go
02:49the other direction and I feel like I still have to maintain
02:52that that Navy can keep this thing within three or four. I
02:56I tell you this much. I think the correlation is Army in the
02:59over Navy in the under because Army's a wagon on offense,
03:03right? Like like nobody really is other than Notre Dame.
03:05Nobody's been able to slow them down all that much. Maybe North
03:08Texas game when they only scored fourteen in the Air
03:10Force game where there was no Bryson Daly but beyond that,
03:13this is a team right now that if Navy can't stop them from
03:16scoring fourteen in the first half, guess what? This game is
03:18dead. Uh for Navy that is and I think Army will run away with
03:21it because their defense is also really good. Good. Let me
03:25take a let me take a look at that total in this game because
03:27it's always fun to say now we have two really good teams
03:30between Army and Navy. No doubt about it. They'll be able to
03:33put down scoring drives to get over the forty points. They
03:36seem never to get into the forties here. Thirty-nine and a
03:39half. I just heard you say like basically a correlation but
03:42let's just say the game plays out similar to what you feel.
03:44Is it a game that gets into the forties or no? I think so.
03:48I I genuinely do. Um again and a lot of that is dependent on
03:52Army. Army has to get to to twenty-four for it to get
03:58there. Like twenty-four seventeen kinda gets you home,
04:00doesn't it? Um that's that's kinda the way this thing goes.
04:03Remember, Army Navy games are typically more sort of NFL
04:06scoring numbers where the key totals matter, the key numbers
04:10matter, right? When you're sitting here at thirty-nine,
04:12it's either thirty-eight or forty-one. You know, you'd
04:15have to, there's just not enough scoring drives for the
04:17most part in these games where you can get two field goals
04:20instead of a touchdown and all of a sudden thirty-nine and a
04:22half as opposed to forty becomes a real thing, right?
04:25Whereas it's thirty-eight or forty-one, you know, you get
04:27twenty-one seventeen or you get twenty-four seventeen, right?
04:31That's the difference. So, uh I I take that into account when
04:33these two teams play but you know, look at Army's team total
04:37at twenty-three and a half. If they're gonna win this thing
04:39and cover it, they gotta get to twenty-four. I'd have a hard
04:41time believing that this thing stays under when they win the
04:43game twenty to ten.
