00:00Extra rush and they're going to end the game with a sack.
00:07So the Rams, instead of sending three, dropping eight, sent five.
00:12Rose Bloom gets credit for the sack and the Rams have now won seven of their last nine.
00:18Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:24Alright, it is crossover time.
00:27Brought to you by Atco Pest Control.
00:30Coming up in ten minutes.
00:32What's bugging you?
00:34That's what we do on a Friday, but we got 49ers to talk about for the next ten minutes.
00:39They lose 12-6.
00:41They're essentially eliminated and...
00:4412-6!
00:4512-6.
00:46Yep.
00:47Pay the under.
00:48Wow.
00:49Fade the dibber.
00:50Yep.
00:5112-6.
00:52What's the biggest takeaway, Dibbs?
00:53From the game last night?
00:54Yeah.
00:55The biggest takeaway is that Brock Purdy has regressed.
00:59Brock Purdy, for some reason, has decided that he needs to do more than what he did last year,
01:06which is what made him number four in the MVP race.
01:08This year, he's trying to do more than he should be doing.
01:12And I don't know if it's the coaching or if it's his own sense of,
01:16I gotta earn the contract that I don't yet have.
01:19But I look at three or four plays last night in the second half where there was meat on the bone.
01:24Take the incremental gain, but instead, he's trying to make the big play.
01:29I don't know why he's doing that, but...
01:31He used to do that.
01:32Exactly.
01:33And that's what got him to where he has been, taking the little seven-yard checkdown,
01:37taking the four-yard here, looking underneath, and just moving the chains.
01:41Last night, the biggest play of the game was his INT into double, if not triple, coverage.
01:47And a throw that did not need to be made.
01:50There's 540 to go.
01:52All you have to do is check that thing down and keep the drive alive.
01:56Take your three.
01:57Now it's 9-9.
01:58And let your defense, it's been so good all night, let them go out and make a play for you.
02:03They were phenomenal.
02:04I text and said, oh my god, the Greenlaw effect.
02:08If they somehow get it, we'll...
02:10If this happened on this team, it's very, very surprising to me.
02:15I don't think I'll ever play football again.
02:17And then...
02:18That's where I'm at.
02:19And this is also, this is nitpicking.
02:20It's not fair because this is not what lost the game.
02:23The game has essentially already been lost.
02:25However, did you see, and I love that you guys had Acho on,
02:29did you see one of the videos that he posted earlier today on the...
02:343rd and 4?
02:35Yes.
02:36It was mad.
02:37Where is Hefonga?
02:38Where are you going?
02:39Evan, if you saw that on the 3rd and 4...
02:42Yes, defensive confusion.
02:43They both followed the man in motion.
02:45Oh my god.
02:46Shout out to Jon Paul.
02:47Man in motion.
02:48It was a great play.
02:49And then I watched it like...
02:50He was wide open.
02:51I was standing there in the stands.
02:52I'm sitting in the stands and I looked at Christy and I went,
02:56your entire season, your whole season comes down to this
03:03and Matt Stafford turns to his right at a tight end, is standing by himself
03:09seven yards down the field, the easiest pitching catch he'll have his whole career.
03:15And I'm like, if that doesn't sum up, the 49ers motto this year is,
03:20if it's not one thing, it's another.
03:22Because, by the way, Brock Purdy, I agree with everything you said, Dibs,
03:26but I'll add, when he made a good throw last night, the receiver dropped it.
03:30And that one throw, his best throw of the night was a touchdown.
03:35And Jennings, who's become my favorite Niner this year, had two drops.
03:38Two of nine. He caught two of the nine talking.
03:41I just don't know how to define a team that if it's not one thing, it's another.
03:50Every single quarter, if it's not one thing, it's another.
03:55They cannot put it all together for one quarter, one half, at least not the ones that matter.
04:02Well, and you do need to take a moment, and I'll take it for all of us,
04:05to say, best game of the year for the special teams.
04:08They were spectacular.
04:11I did not have that making the crossover.
04:15I thought that was like 542 this afternoon.
04:19And I'll wait for Grandy's grades, and it better be an A, an A- at the least,
04:23because Demo actually gave you that last little breath of life.
04:28He took it eight yards deep, and took it to the 35, and they horse called him,
04:32and they got to the 50.
04:33I said, are you kidding me?
04:35And they still couldn't even get a Hail Mary off.
04:37They needed two more times to get a Hail Mary.
04:38He couldn't do it.
04:39Brock Purdy had Pearsall open on the sideline for a 15-yard pitch and catch,
04:44which at least gives you a chance to run an actual play, as opposed to a Hail Mary.
04:49And win the game.
04:50And credit the Rams for treating the Hail Mary the right way,
04:53which is rush five, dude.
04:55You rush the passer, you rush five, and you don't let him sit back there,
05:00and you don't rush two and drop nine and get cooked.
05:03They rush five, Brock's sacked, season over, night-night.
05:07I'm so bummed.
05:10I'm so bummed.
05:11Well, we lost the bet, because we had a bet,
05:13and he admitted that you would just come in, because we said he's got to be.
05:17Well, he's still going to do it.
05:18He's got points.
05:19No, he said he's bummed, so where it goes to.
05:21But he's also going to say, you know, this is who they were all year.
05:24No, but he said he's bummed.
05:25You owned it.
05:27No, I think, Stein, what you're trying to get me to say is, well, look.
05:34It's all good in the hood.
05:36They're going to be back next year.
05:39And the Warriors have a winning record.
05:42And Brock's going to still get his chicken,
05:45because he's played more good games than bad.
05:49And happy holidays, everyone.
05:53Isn't life beautiful still?
05:56Did you have fun with your friends and family last night,
05:58even though they lost?
06:00Is that what you want me to say?
06:01No, it was more.
06:03The one thing you're not coming in.
06:05No, what I really meant was, don't expect Willard to be incredulous today
06:11about what happened.
06:12Him being bummed counts.
06:14Count the bucket.
06:15Him saying he's bummed.
06:16I don't know if I ever get incredulous, but I'm really, really bummed.
06:22I'm bummed.
06:23I can't believe that this is how it went.
06:28I can't believe that this is how it went.
06:31And I feel greatly vindicated today.
06:34Victory lap?
06:35I'm not going to take a victory lap based on a take that comes across as negative,
06:40but all offseason I talked about a phrase that Mark poo-pooed over and over
06:45and over again, and here we are, and it's about to come to pass,
06:48Super Bowl or bust, and now you're 6-8,
06:51and this thing is going to get busted apart.
06:53No doubt.
06:54Debo Samuel?
06:55Does he come back?
06:56Trent Williams?
06:57Does he come back?
06:58We know that the big fella Javon Hargrave has been restructured,
07:02and he's going to be cut, and Mooney's not coming back,
07:05and you want to talk about a busting up of the roster?
07:08Well, it's here now, fellas.
07:10It is Super Bowl or bust.
07:12I was right.
07:13No, you weren't.
07:14Don't take your victory lap.
07:15I'm not taking any lap.
07:16That doesn't even exist.
07:17I love it.
07:18So there's roster changes, which happen to happen every team every year.
07:23Is De'Andre Campbell coming back?
07:26Super Bowl or bust?
07:28I can't believe he's still here.
07:29That's what I said.
07:30He's not.
07:31The victory lap that you should be taking, actually, was the one where you –
07:36no, put your hand down.
07:38I'm gesturing to the crowd after chipping in for birdie.
07:42You notice the crowd's making a lot of noise, aren't they,
07:45because there isn't one.
07:47They're not booing me like they boo Debo.
07:48Listen.
07:49I couldn't believe that.
07:50The victory lap you should be taking
07:52is the one where you talked about the roster before the year started.
07:57Yeah, no depth.
07:58Not having the depth that it needed.
08:00The Niners had a good draft.
08:01They had a bad offseason.
08:03They had a good draft.
08:05They had a bad offseason.
08:07Their free agent signings to create depth have not worked.
08:11They didn't do it in the secondary.
08:13The Andre Campbell one went from bad to, okay, I guess it's not that bad,
08:17to literally embarrassing.
08:19But it got good for a minute there.
08:20He had a couple of good games.
08:22It got okay.
08:23It got okay.
08:24Now it's patently absurd.
08:27Let's talk about Trent and Brandon and CMC.
08:29Exactly.
08:30The way you handled the contracts, the way you built your depth,
08:32the way you readied yourself for what you at least –
08:36I don't want to say should have seen coming,
08:38but it's your job to be ready for it.
08:41They did nothing.
08:43Who did they bring in outside of the drafted players?
08:47Who did they bring in that has helped this team?
08:50Give me a name.
08:51Outside of the drafted players?
08:53One person.
08:54I mean, he wasn't – Leonard Floyd wasn't absolutely terrible.
08:57And if that's the best – Evan Anderson with the Guardian cap.
09:00Okay.
09:01So if that's the best we can do, that's not very good.
09:05That's not very good.
09:06And your defensive coordinator didn't help a lot.
09:08I'm just saying what I feel.
09:09The changes you made, like, yes, you made –
09:12it appears you made some quality selections in the draft.
09:16But I would argue just about every other maneuver in the offseason
09:19came up very short.
09:22Yeah.
09:23I mean, it seems pretty obvious at this point.
09:27Hey, Goo, this is the point where you mentioned that the math is still there.
09:30He tried to get me to say that.
09:32I will not.
09:33Because the play is not there.
09:35No, it's over.
09:36It's over.
09:37And I want to say something to Willie.
09:39Let me do the legal.
09:40Go ahead.
09:41Time for the legal.
09:42You're listening to 95.7 The Game, KGMZ FM and HD1 San Francisco,
09:46always live on the free Odyssey app,
09:47Twitch and YouTube powered by First NorCal Credit Union.
09:50What's bugging you coming up very quickly?
09:53So you said the other day you thought Debo is not done.
09:57And then a lot of people said –
09:59and if I'm to believe that Purdy is the quarterback that I've seen
10:03the last two years and maybe not, you know, all this season,
10:06then I've got to put it at Kyle's doorstep in regard to,
10:09I don't know what the question is, but you've got to get the answers.
10:13Because maybe as a collective, everybody's not looking like themselves
10:16because maybe they caught up to you, the blocking.
10:20But I do believe Debo is in his own head now.
10:23But if he's not done, I don't believe Purdy is this bad.
10:26Because he looked like Jimmy.
10:28And so he looked like Jimmy yesterday.
10:30That stuff's all fair.
10:31I think that's all fair.
10:33I do think it's on each of us to sort of define what that question is.
10:38You know, when we get frustrated, and we're all frustrated,
10:42I find it like let's go further than just it's on him or it's on him.
10:47Like what does that even mean?
10:49Like what's the question?
10:51Obviously, it's on all of them.
10:54But let's go into each player and each coach and point to some things.
11:00Debo Samuel, to me, is an example of how this is how life works, man.
11:05When you're one action, when you're out of line, life's going to find you.
11:10Karma.
11:11If you want to call it that, call it whatever you want.
11:13They booed him.
11:15And we're going to talk about that right out of the gate.
11:17At home, Debs.
11:18I'll tell you what the Shanahan thing is that gets me.
11:21And it's not just that broad like this is on you, Kyle.
11:24Here's what gets me.
11:25I don't know if in 2024 anymore in the NFL,
11:29I don't know if you can play football this way
11:32where you are immediately at your absolute worst
11:36if the game is close in the fourth quarter.
11:39If you're even down by three, these two, Kyle and Brock,
11:43feel like they're down by 10.
11:45And I don't know if you – and I get it.
11:47I get that that's the system they run.
11:50But to me, that is too gaping of a hole.
11:53You have to in the NFL with the offensive rules the way they are
11:57and the quarterbacks that you have to go beat.
12:00When you watch what Stafford and Allen did to each other last week in L.A.,
12:04where it's just like, okay, it's a close game.
12:07We're both going to score 80 points in the fourth quarter.
12:10Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing.
12:11Pinball game.
12:12When the Niners are down three in the fourth quarter, you feel hosed.
12:16Like it's over.
12:18And the stats will show that usually it is.
12:20And to me, that's the hole in what Kyle Shanahan has built.
12:26It's effective until it's not.
12:29And when you get behind for whatever reason in the fourth quarter,
12:33they cannot – I can't say they can't, but they usually can't do it.
12:39I feel like we're watching an NFL team, an NBA team,
12:43not shoot threes by the vertical ball.
12:45I mean, if you could give me a video clip of a Niner going deep
12:48and a flag being thrown, I can't wait to see it.
12:52My point is, does he got to diversify his portfolio?
12:56This league is going downfield in the Niners.
12:58Everything is over the middle.
13:00And I believe teams have figured – the Rams weren't scared last night.
13:04Well, they still don't have anybody who can run deep.
13:06The 49ers, they don't have –
13:08But you got a $30 million receiver that didn't do that when he was on the field.
13:11That's not what he does.
13:13Like it's not – I mean, you know, not every receiver does that.
13:17Hey, who's enjoying these bouts of rain and cold weather we've been experiencing?
13:23The weather isn't the only thing to worry about.
13:25It's also ant and rodent season.

13:54It is time for the What's Buggin'?
13:56Yeah.
13:57Oh, that's right.
13:58My favorite part of the week.
13:59Yeah.
14:00Go ahead, Dave.
14:01And this one is personal to me, but it's more personal to someone who is very close to me.
14:05And what's bugging me is the Baseball Hall of Fame process.
14:10Because earlier this week, we lost one of the great ones,
14:13a man who certainly should be in the Hall of Fame.
14:16He had 374, I believe, career home runs.
14:19He played 14 if not 15 years in Major League Baseball in the 50s and 60s.
14:24I know where you're going.
14:25But what we do now in the Hall of Fame is we forget the men who laid the groundwork for the sport that we all enjoy.
14:33And we forget the accomplishments of a man in particular who was able to slug it out
14:40back when pitchers were on a higher mound.
14:42And you played eight days a week.
14:44You had doubleheaders.
14:45You traveled on buses.
14:47And life was a lot harder.
14:49Rocky Colavito died earlier this week at the age of 91.
14:53And I know a lot about Rocky Colavito because of my good friend Matt Steinmetz.
14:57And Rocky Colavito is a family friend.
15:00And so what's bugging me, Stiney, and I was thinking about this earlier in the week,
15:04and I sent you a text of condolence because I know that your mom in particular is dear friends with Rocky.
15:09And his wife.
15:11And Rocky's no longer with us.
15:13But a player like Rocky Colavito falls through the cracks.
15:16Whereas modern-day players who have similar numbers and similar impact, they get their causes championed.
15:24It becomes a cause celeb of these people as opposed to a man, Rocky Colavito, who I never saw play.
15:31Because I think he stopped playing when I was three months old in 1968, somewhere along that line.
15:37But some of the great players of days gone by don't get the credit that they deserve.
15:42And so it had me thinking about it, Stiney.
15:44And my thoughts go out to you and your family.
15:47Rocky Colavito, 91, a great life lived.
15:50But what bugs me is this whole idea about the Hall of Fame.
15:54We don't give credit where credit should be due, which is to those who came before us.
15:59I'm at it.
16:00Good one. Good one.
16:02I'll take it in a little different direction.
16:05What's bugging me is anybody who claims to have E.V.
16:10If you hadn't done that NBA thing two weeks ago, I'd argue this is your best rant of all time.
16:18I don't know where it came from or why it's happening or why you're so mad about it.
16:23But it's the most intricate, wonderful thing I've ever heard you say in my life.
16:26I've been thinking about it for three days, in fact.
16:28What happened?
16:29On the bottom of my...
16:30No, but who got you going?
16:32Just the phrase!
16:35Where are you hearing this?
16:38Urban Dictionary.
16:40Are you...
16:41No, look it up!
16:42No, I believe you.
16:43It's a phrase.
16:44It's one of the things that's holding back electric vehicle sales.
16:47But to be that bug, you need to be...
16:49I would think you were confronted with this somehow.
16:52No.
16:53I'm confronted with the idea of it.
16:56Amazing.
16:57And somebody uses a phrase that is so ludicrous.
17:03Mine is stupid and quick, so let me go next.
17:07Especially because Ken is sitting there looking at me.
17:10The two of you are playing each other in the fantasy game.
17:12Yes, we are!
17:13He had you on, Jimmy!
17:14Yeah, he had you on.
17:16You smiling and clapping right now is exactly what I want to talk about.
17:21Is that what's bugging you?
17:22No, what's bugging me is my own overconfidence.
17:24I don't like what happens when something good happens to your fantasy team on a Thursday night
17:31and you spend three days peacocking around, planning for the next round.
17:38And, damn it, Ken, I know damn well I haven't won anything yet.
17:42Ken started Cooper Cup last night.
17:45Zero!
17:47He got zero points.
17:52He had one target?
17:53I don't even know how many...
17:54Ken, how many do you have?
17:55Three.
17:56Ken's like, he had three.
17:57But I don't even think any of them were even close.
17:59Out of bounds.
18:00And now I've got to spend 48 hours just acting like my, you know what, don't stink,
18:07because he's basically playing me down a player.
18:09Wow, man.
18:10What's your percentage jump to?
18:11Oh, God.
18:12That's even worse.
18:13He doesn't believe in these.
18:14When you look at those stupid things...
18:16Evan got an A plus for his draft.
18:18Didn't make the playoff.
18:19You might as well just go to the toilet and slam your head with the seat
18:23rather than look at the ridiculous percentages.
18:27I had a 92% against you until that Jerry Judy happened.
18:30It's a miracle!
18:31Since you asked, I am now up to...
18:37Probably 71?
18:38I am up to 76.
18:40Wow.
18:41And I haven't even started.
18:43I did have to replace my tight end, Evan Engram, today, who's now out for the year,
18:47which dropped me, I think, from 77 down to 76.
18:50Man.
18:51So we're dealing with that adversity on the team, Ken, and we'll see if we can recover.
18:55Two Monday night games this week.
18:57I know.
18:58What's bugging you, buddy?
18:59Oh, yeah.
19:00Listen.
19:01Johnny's got somewhere to be.
19:02He's out of energy.
19:03The bag is not on the shoulder.
19:04From the streets to the hood to high school to some colleges, I wore number 34.
19:11And I wore 34 playing basketball because I was rough and tough in the paint.
19:15If I wasn't the most skilled, I was rough, and that's why I wore 34.
19:19Charles Oakley.
19:20If I see another NBA player eight feet tall give me the too small thing when a guy 6'1
19:28is guarding you, I'm going to lose it.
19:31Paul Malone's, the greats, Maurice Lucas's, they did what they did and ran down court,
19:38and the fans knew what you had.
19:40You don't got to symbolize that you're bigger than the other guy, and I'm seeing little
19:46guys do the too small thing.
19:48Get back on D. It's ridiculous.
19:51I might be aging myself, but it's whack.
19:54You don't got to tell us you moved and grooved down low in the paint.
19:59Let the fans watch it and know, man, look at them shoulders.
20:03But this little, oh, he's too small.
20:07It's sickening to me.
20:09I mean, if I'm Wim Benyama, I do that every time down the floor.
20:13Exactly.
20:14This might be my favorite what's bugging you of the year.
20:17It's such a great take.
20:21Like, shouldn't you be talking smack if you scored on someone bigger than you?
20:25Why would you be like, look at me?
20:27I just scored on someone seven inches shorter than me.
20:31In theory.
20:32Dude, he's 5'8".
20:34Come on, man.
20:35I need somebody to now start the, instead of too small, just go, yeah, yeah, exactly.
20:40I'm too tall.
20:41Wim Benyama can do every single play.
20:44Too tall.
20:46All right.
20:47That's what Juwan Jennings did last night when that ball flew over his head.
20:50Too tall.
20:51Which time?
20:52Sorry to bring the room back.
20:53You heard me a little bit last night, but that's all right.
20:55Debo, you got to catch that.
20:56That was awesome.
20:57That's a perfect place to let it go.
21:00Debo Samuel, right in the bread basket.
21:03That's what we used to call it back in my day.
21:06Back when there were bread baskets.
21:08How long ago was your day, Stiney?
21:10You know what?
21:11When I was in my prime?
21:131982.
21:14Consider your prime.
21:1582.
21:16Late 80s, early 90s.
21:17Late 80s, early 90s.
21:19It's that long?
21:20Yeah.
21:21Really?
21:22It was Holy Names High School, 1982.
21:23That wasn't my prime.
21:24That wasn't my prime.
21:25Like, you've been here now for six decades.
21:27Maybe senior year.
21:28What's it?
21:29Basically.
21:30What, you got rid of Ed Lackman?
21:31That's when you really started to blossom.
21:32My son is 10.
21:33Ed Lackman.
21:34If he asked you, what's the best decade out of the first six, what would you say?
21:39It's after college, but you gotta have a job.
21:44It's that first job after college.
21:46You like your 20s as long as they're...
21:48Yeah.
21:49It was like when I finally drew a salary instead of working for Waterfall Gardens for $5.50
21:55an hour as a college graduate.
21:57Was that salary, as Draymond would say, too small?
21:59It was.
22:00Too small.
22:01It was.
22:02It was too small.
22:03It was not a Wembinyama salary.
22:04All right, gentlemen, have a great show on 95.7 The Game.
22:07I love the young people.
