00:00G'day, I'm Helen DaCosta from the land. I'm here with Amy Canty of Elders Cowra.

00:07Amy, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you became an agronomist?

00:13Yeah, absolutely. Hi, I'm Amy. I'm 24. I've been based at Elders in Cowra for three years now.

00:18I came into agronomy through a graduate program with Elders and I've loved it since the first

00:23day. Yep, yep. So understandably you came from a small operation at Mirroolan,

00:30didn't really have too much of a background. Oh no, it was yeah, a 25 acre hobby farm.

00:36But yeah, no, the only background I've had is doing agriculture in school and then I

00:40decided I wanted to broaden that and go uni and got some experience there. But I've learned a lot

00:46in my current job, yeah. Yeah, beautiful. And what is it that you enjoy so much about your job?

00:53Oh, I love your relationship with clients. The success you see them go through from

00:57things you're bringing from industry research is fantastic. Yep. And just,

01:01you get me outside every day. Yeah, you get some views like this every day.

01:07Now, what would your advice be for people coming into the industry like yourself?

01:13Definitely don't be daunted. Okay. I think some people get a bit nervous not having any background.

01:18It's so welcoming. Everyone in the industry is so welcoming. Yep. And just any exposure you can get

01:22to agriculture is fantastic. You've got, geez Reeve, geez, that's gone 11. Yeah, wow. And then

01:30each of these sections are filled with your grain. So we've had a little bit of a loss because of the

01:35frost. But so far, average is looking three, four wide, which is pretty good. Five wide is the best.

01:42In your workout, you yield based off kind of how many head you had per square meter.

01:47And you calculate how many grains per head their weight. And it gives you a good rough idea of

01:52your per hectare, which you saw because it's looking pretty good.
